    I love you, Mr. Ramey! You are the absolute best! And wow…so humble 😌 Thank you for sharing yourself with the world 🌎 One of the happiest things to have happened to me as a young singer was the opportunity of performing as a soldier (supernumerary) in the MET’s production of “War and Peace” which starred you and the also fabulous Dmitri Hvorostovsky (2002) 🤩 The other thrilling moment I experienced was sitting outside your practice room and listening to you sing through a door 🚪 at DePaul University in Chicago 😍 You came out of the room and walked past me like a golden Lion 🦁 You are electrifying! God bless you and your family 🙏

      Thank you! I would have been in a Depaul practice room because of my wife, who got her Certificate in Voice from there. I may have been having a lesson with Norman Gulbrandsen that day.

    Thanks Maestro Ramey for your explanations of how you could sing Rossini with that ease maybe better than Filipo Galli himself jajaja, imagine if Maestro Rssini would met you , he would created more operas for Basses 😊. Thanks to you Caro Maestro and Marilyn Horne Rossinis Operas were appreciated all over the world, thanks for your contribution Maestro Ramey you are the best 👍

    Dear Ramey’s! Scott from Brooklyn, NYC here, and can’t emphasize how nourishing it is for my soul to see you both so happy and healthy looking, talking about Sam’s experiences on stage and off. I’m 47, but in the 90’s, when I was a voice student right behind the Met at LaGuardia H.S. Of the Arts, I was lucky & blessed to spend many many nights at the Met over the years enveloped in Sam’s lustrous, other-worldly voice. Sam, you were even kind enough to let a H.S. Opera wannabe come backstage and say hello a couple of times with my teacher, Anna Ext, legendary in her own right. I’ll never forget those experiences, and I’m so grateful for new ones on this channel. Wishing you both all the very best of good health and happiness! Warmly, Scott Reiburn

    Sam Ramey, the greatest opera Bass of my generation. Siepi was the same, from my father's generation. Two of the greatest of all time! BTW, I was the one who came up with the title, "Samuel Ramey, Greatest Villains" from Legendary Recordings

    Definitely what we young basses/bass-baritones want to know...the process of learning and singing coloratura (I use most of his ornaments anyhow!!) and technique. Brilliant!

    These are great videos! If I could make a polite request is if you could have one that focuses on Sam's wonderful singing technique. He often talks about his teachers "trout mouth" but I have not heard him say much else. Sam has a great effortless technique, like speaking to some degree and also sings opera and musicals - so it would be great if we could hear more about the "how". Thanks in advance!

    Charles X of the Viaggo à Reims was the brother of Louis XVI, the one who was beheaded in 1793....The three brothers have been kings of France, Louis XVI, then Louis XVIII, then Charles X. Louis XVII was the poor little boy who died in the Temple prison in Paris, Just a quick point of history for all the "followers". Thanks for all the stories and information you are given us.

    Maestro have you ever taught private lessons or Masterclasses? In terms of musicianship, did you continue to develop it as you did the voice? If so, what kind of exercises did you do?

    • @samuelrameybassbehindthecu177
      @samuelrameybassbehindthecu177  3 года назад +5

      I have done Masterclasses, though I prefer coaching students privately. I mostly teach them about style and language. The vocal exercises I have always done are usually from the Vaccai Practical Method of Italian Singing.
