I know this is an old video, but all of you that said that they could have given that ice cream to schools and such, can you seriously say that you would eat what came out of that place? I have worked in the food safety industry for almost 30 years, and seeing the state of those vehicles and the freezer units, I would never eat anything that came from that place. The health of my family is way more important.
@steelmonkey74 I hear you but some of it’s still perfectly fine. That said, my Granny would hardly let us eat off those trucks, and she grew up poor and hard through the Great Depression. If she saw this she would say see there…😅

@@Patrick_B687-3 I have conducted thousands of inspections of food facilities over the last three decades, and the amount of time needed to inspect all of that ice cream in contrast to what "might still be good" is really not worth it. Judging by the looks of that stuff, very little would be "safe" to eat. I also had a grandmother like yours. I sure do miss her.

Mane!!! This is MEMORY. during my struggle days, 2 months before entering college. I worked at this place for 2 weeks. They provide the truck and ice cream BUT you had to pay for the ice cream out the money you make. So from 10am til it get dark. 7 days week you make $80 to $125 but since you had to pay for the ice cream. You only made 30 to 35 dollars a day because they paid daily. WORSE JOB EVER

The person getting evicted could have called the school system or the Nursing Homes, somebody to help take some of the merchandise to help out the community and not loose everything to the curb. No doubt they had sufficient time to make some arrangement to clear everything out. It’s not a good time to make arrangements when the eviction has started. To bad for not handling such a serious business in sufficient time. Everybody have bills to pay, including the landlord. Take care and be safe.
In reality, schools and other places don't want the liability associated with accepting and distributing an unknown product from an unknown and unapproved vendor.

A cordless grinder with cutting wheel on it from harbor freight would cost a lot less to cut off padlock than a cutting torch. That torch gas and oxygen has gotten really expensive.

There are health codes in place that don't allow something like that donated to them
Usually a logistics problem. What vehicle is going to deliver it to all those places where it keeps it at a safe cold temp? Do those places have enough freezer storage for the stuff? Where is it going to stay in a safe cold area before it gets distributed? Etc.

He knew the eviction was coming, he could have sold off the stock in the freezer to a competitor long before it came to this. Also his back lot was full of scrap vehicles that a metal recycler would have paid cash for.

I don’t know who is running the business, but they have way too much inventory to the point they couldn’t handle it. They couldn’t even keep a neat and organized in the freezer. Probably wasn’t pushing it out fast enough. Don’t look like they even had enough trucks to push that amount out. That’s probably why they went under.

If I lived closer I'd at least help him out by my coming over there and buying some of that inventory so it don't all goes to waist. Of course most likely he would probably still be trying to sell it for full price with that ice cream man mark up price even though his whole life is melting right before his eyes in the streets.
thank you. I can tell you from personal experience that once it has gotten to this point they 1. Have had at least 3 months to pay up, setup a payment plan or file bankruptcy and be under chaper 11 protection. 2. People claim ignorance when it get to this point. 3. I can guarantee with the size of the property and the size of that walk
in that the landlord is already out 20k at least.
Scale down your business, sell 3/4 of those trucks, and once the economy turns and you are in a steadier place, MAYBE start scaling back up.

Ice cream trucks are not a year round thing. Especially for ice cream trucks. Owning a couple of trucks is far better then having a fleet that you don't own.
