I believe that Section 8 paid their portion of the rent for the month (with the stipulation that the owner take care of the mold before the next month’s rent comes due). However, the tenant took that to mean that she could withhold her portion of the rent until the mold issue was corrected. However, the landlord was just waiting for an opportunity such as this to get her outta that property. Needless to say that the tenant was correct; this was personal. She wanted her gone!
