@@livelong6685 It matters when you're trying to get a jump at the stoplight to switch lanes. But yes, highway passing can be made safer with more power as well. Also more dangerous if in the wrong hands.
I have an EV6 GT. It is not just ridiculously fast. It is an awesome daily driver. The suspension is very comfortable, especially considering the level of performance. The bucket sits are manual but again, I find them to be very comfortable as well. The climate control system is confusing and the controls for it are poorly conceived but they work and one ultimately gets used to them. My favorite feature of the car is the "iPedal" mode, Kia’s one pedal driving mode. This mode, unique to electric cars, allows one to drastically slow down the vehicle by simply lifting one’s foot off the accelerator. Doing so, equates to putting your foot on the brakes, except the brakes are not used at all. The energy used to slow down the vehicle is instead sent to the battery, in effect re-charging the battery as one drives. This not only dramatically extends the lifespan of rotors and pads, especially in busy, stop and go traffic. It makes the act of driving a lot more comfortable as a single foot on a single pedal now offers the kind of control a gasoline car driver can only dream of. It does take some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you don’t ever want to be without it, except for extended highway driving. The "iPedal" feature can of course be turned on or off at the touch of a button on the steering wheel.
Great comment. I've been looking for people with the EV6 GT and how it handles as a daily driver. I have a Mach-E Select and wanting to upgrade to more power and better interior/infotainment. I use the 1 pedal driving with the Mach-E too and I love it
I like having the power of being able to get out of any weird traffic situation instantly. Drivers out here in California can add 5-10 minutes to your short commutes easily. EV6 GT is the perfect daily for someone who drives under 30 miles a day. I also removed the fuse in order to completely silence the car on the outside. All you hear now is the motor "whine" when accelerating hard and that's it. Awesome car.

The U-drags are great! One thing I wanted to point out is that your intro clips which I assume are teasers show a bit too much of the race so it's not too hard to guess the winner in the first 30s of the video sometimes.
When it came time for me to get a new car last year I decided I was going to get an EV. I went to the Hyundai lot and tried an Ioniq 5 but I wasn't sold so before buying it I went to the Kia lot and the salesman was like "we're going to test drive the GT, but I get to take it out first because you'll kill us if you dont know what to expect." and he was absolutely right. All I could do was laugh as soon as he mashed the gas and gravity shifted. I was so nervous to actually mash it on a city road but the car is still super easy to drive and the traction control is very much there. What a beautiful thing. I almost went with the GT, but the seats in the GT-Line are far more comfortable and you get an additional ~20% range while saving $15K. The GT-Line is still plenty fast to shock anyone that rides with me without knowing what it can do before hand. I absolutely love the car and wouldnt trade it for anything.
Very well done! I was somewhat surprised here based on the HP and torque and weight numbers. There is a lot to be said for instant torque and traction.
The Black Ghost 1/4 trap speeds are soooo low even compared to the 707 hp variants that typically do 125-128. I don't know the weather conditions but it seems down on power.
By default if it’s hot out supercharged cars are down on power, not sure where they’re shooting at but it seems like it’s in the middle of the desert during the middle of the day “hottest” time. EV’s on the other hand love hot weather. Those 2 factors affected this a lot I’m sure. Also the fact that from the factory a lot of the times these hellcats and other high HP cars get crappy all seasons or something like a pirelli which are absolutely useless in terms of grip instead of something stickier like a Toyo R888R which would be a lot better for getting traction, I’m sure the Ghost would’ve fared a lot better with a proper tire. Still blows my mind that manufactures will happily sell a 800hp car and not put on proper tires for it. I run Toyo R888’s on a car with almost half the HP and it’s helped me tremendously. Everyone Ik with high HP cars runs Toyo’s or something similar in compound to properly grip.
Came here to say the same thing. Wonder if it's down in power due to heat or poor fuel or both. Seems odd that it couldn't reel the Kia in once it had traction.
you can't just jump in a hellcat and run a good time, you have to know how to manage that power. The 807hp cars are capable of sub 11 second quarter mile times and 0-60 around 3.4 sec. THey were off by about a second which is about 8-10 car lengths.
My favorite race, love these. Please put the EV6 in GT mode and don't turn off stability control otherwise the tires will roast off the line. It seemed slow off the line. I bet it would have been faster than the Vette.
Hey! This is a Kia. The same company that built the Picanto🤣 destroying the greatest muscle car legacy. Car technology came a long way. But i still go for I.C.E for life. I cannot drive quietness 🙂
the thing about driving an ev6 gt everyday, is you can pass any car from behind it to in front of it go from 70 to 100 then let off the acceleration and be back to 80 all in a few seconds. also, it is very stealthy. it really is way more fun than you are imagining. I saw a mustang turn in front of me yesterday at a red light. it was so loud and all I could do laugh, but I wanted to swing around and meet him at the next light. most people have no idea what my car is. and I love that. only one speeding ticket since January.
It's not really a surprise. The Black Ghost is just a special edition, last call Hellcat/Demon/Redeye variant. Did I miss one? These cars are high-powered boat anchors and are absolutely useless on street tires. Although the Black Ghost sounds awesome. However, the biggest insult to injury is spending $100k+ dealer mark-up, and getting its @$$ handed to by a $62k KIA!!! What makes matters even worse is that you can get a $7500 rebate check from Kia, so that's now $55k. Now that's arguably half the money. Sorry Dodge, I hope the e Muscled Challenger is better.
That EV6GT is 0.6 seconds behind a BMW M3 competition and 0.8 seconds behind a M8 competition. FFS Its a Kia SUV. The world has gone mad. The Challenger is a serious embarassment. The only thing it wins is the little pinky finger award.
I don't hate on EVs and I'm a huge hater of the HellCrap! However, the HellCrap can do that all day long from a full tank of gas all the way down to running it dry. The EV6 is going to start to conserve juice at some point and that will no longer be repeatable. Both have their places but racing against one another isn't that place.
Great race, but we know the RWD Hellcats can’t put the power down. I say do this again, but with the Durango Hellcat… Then we’ll see what’s up AWD vs AWD. Thanks for posting!

The Kia won the first round that’s what I’m talking about 807 hp got nothing on the Kia EV6 😂😂😂😂 I’m definitely going to get a Kia EV6 as my 2nd car in the future.
You can actually get more power in the EV6 GT by preconditioning the battery. Takes 5 to 15 minutes over 70% battery you get the full 576 hp and 545 tq otherwise it's more like only 500 hp. I know I own one. They should test it against a real performance car like the BMW M3 Comp X drive probably much closer.
Dodge is seriously fucking up. The Challenger is an absolute beast but is a total nightmare getting off the line. These all wheel drive cars do it so well, dodge really slacks on the tire set up on the Challengers. It’s really sad people spend this much money on these cars and cannot achieve maximum performance out of their cars. These cars need wider wheels and drag tires. Not all season tires on an 800+hp car. They fail to realize this and it’s sad to see them loose to weaker cars.
I've been saying the same thing since the Hellcat initially came out, waste of power for real life driving , don't even attempt to drive it in wet or cold weather !
EVs are definitely the future, and they will eventually own the performance records, but the classic muscle car is still a thing to experience. That said, this is more a test of RWD versus AWD on a less-than-ideal-surface, rather than ICE versus EV. It is representative of what would happen at a light, but would the tables turn at the track on a prepped surface and drag radials?
Once again, the "Black Ghost" gets ghosted and gapped! This Dodge Challenger has a famous name and big reputation that it's not living up to, but this rare car will bring in megabucks at Barret Jackson and Mecum.
You know what's funny tho... Those so called " boats" keep up with the mustangs and Camaros and weigh 500 lbs more. I've seen plenty of boats gapp mustangs and Camaros
The Charger/Challenger lived a great life but this was quite an embarrassing send off, this goes to show how advanced EV cars are that a KIA just absolutely murdered a Hellcat powered car... 😮
One thing that is true… the EV has no soul, no character… internal combustion engines will always stir and move you more than silence. They may not be faster but when I hit the start button of my C6 Z06 and the cammed LS7 spins to life and the long tubes & Borla are bouncing the sound waves off the walls of my garage, the stress of day falls from my face & all that is left is a smile 😊
That’s surprising, almost 3k more for what exactly? All of these chargers and challengers are all the same, you have to be an idiot to fall for these stupid trims. “Black ghost” = a stupid gator skin wrap on the roof and a badge placed somewhere else for almost $30k I’ll give Mopar props, they know how retarded their fans are
Kia Stinger GTs have often been getting the best of GT mustangs, SS camaros and Scat Challengers for 5 yrs already. Also underpowered comparatively but AWD.. KIA isn't bringing a knife to a gun fight these days and it's kinda funny all the denial and haters!
@jonpetter8921 nobody's talking about European cars. This is about how one electric car performed against an American benchmark in power and performance. You mad extra cuz some euros really can't. That's another talk for another time
Honestly, I'm not surprised. I had a 2016 Mustang GT (UK spec, so the tech and sport kits were standard equipment) and my current car, a dual motor EV6, easily out paces it despite being exactly 100hp down and 200kg heavier (321hp vs 421hp and 1800kg vs 2000kg). There's no transmission, you don't have to wait for a cam profile to change, you don't have to wait for a supercharger to spin up, the motors in an EV aren't driving any other equipment except the wheels through a reduction gear (basically direct drive). The EV6 GT has a TERRIFYING amount of Torque, and even my non-GT dual motor spits out over 600Nm. The chassis on the EV6 is a peach, too, and the centre of gravity if slap-bang in the centre of the car in the floor so it corners like a mo-fo. I've done a cheeky slide or two on a roundabout and it's very, very controllable, and this is on the stock Nexen eco tyres.
@@StuartJ True. I believe you'll still get the full performance/power with your foot and pedal to the floor, but if you've ever driven with the regen high, once you let off of the pedal even just a little, the vehicle will apply the regen brakes without driver input.
well, what did i expect, ev6 gt is unmatched, just a better car, what a beast, how come it will be outdated its modern tech, i would take it over a challenger anyday, just a better car overall
It’s electric, of course it will beat it. It’s got the instant torque and awd. And knowing the challenger doesn’t like corners, traction, and has rwd, you gotta admit it did pretty damn good.
@Maarten_vs you kidding me, hell no the ev6 gt is faster, carwow has drag raced one and the model 3 performance is not faster than the ev6gt, on top of that the ev6gt has more tech and better looking
Before watching- this should be interesting. My guess us that this will all come down to the Kia's brakes. If thr Kia's brakes work great, it will win. If not the challenger should be able to claw back s win on the return trip. If the driver nails the launch and turm at the end. Lets see how wrong i am!
And just think after dealer markup the black ghost is closer to 125-150k. So 800 plus hp, 125k...real world 0 to 60 in 4.5 - 5.0....and a mid to high 12. quarter....what a POS!! Give me a new loaded M3Comp and the Kia ev6 gt for $150k. Each will smoke any stock challenger or charger on any non prepped public road from a dig.

@vroomgc I don't trust you btw. But this will blow Model Y performance out of the water.
LOl ok keep on believing what you want , even the new Ionic N will be faster and so are many Teslas and and tuned Audi RS4 and up aor tuned M series that are awd. Just do searching around on youtube at some ppl's times for 0-60 and 1/4 and they are faster than your car.

I can't wait to see the drag race EV6 GT vs IONIQ5 N !!
They keep adding hp to the challenger, maybe it hasn't been enough😂
AWD is what it needs but its to late now
It would still lose. It's not the best roll racer either. The M5 competition keeps up with it with much less HP.
Because it has an aerodynamics of a brick
@@al151nah it aerodynamic of a refrigerator
@@MeMyselfI_69 awd in a muscle car? Where do u live chum?
Very well done! I was somewhat surprised here based on the HP and torque and weight numbers. There is a lot to be said for instant torque and traction.
Wow didnt expect that. The days of muscle dragsters are is coming to an end
It's a BS video What hellcat red-eye runs 12.4 in a quarter?? Scat packs run that on street tires lol
Don't forget about one of the most important things many people don't even know....elevation.
I know there will be so many excuses for getting destroyed and I'm here for it
My favorite race, love these. Please put the EV6 in GT mode and don't turn off stability control otherwise the tires will roast off the line. It seemed slow off the line. I bet it would have been faster than the Vette.
Honestly, these are amazing fun to watch. I think these two guys could race blenders and I'd watch with anticipation, LOL! Good work you two!
They just raced a blender. A fast blender.
😂
Hey! This is a Kia. The same company that built the Picanto🤣 destroying the greatest muscle car legacy. Car technology came a long way. But i still go for I.C.E for life. I cannot drive quietness 🙂
Why not have both, they are both fun
the thing about driving an ev6 gt everyday, is you can pass any car from behind it to in front of it go from 70 to 100 then let off the acceleration and be back to 80 all in a few seconds. also, it is very stealthy. it really is way more fun than you are imagining.
I saw a mustang turn in front of me yesterday at a red light. it was so loud and all I could do laugh, but I wanted to swing around and meet him at the next light. most people have no idea what my car is. and I love that. only one speeding ticket since January.
It's not about how much power you have. It's how it's distributed weight technology many different variables.
I REALLY LIKE THESE VIDEOS, YOU SHOULD DO MORE
More on their way!
PLEASE ! Model 3 Performance vs KIA EV6 GT !!!
Model Y performance would be a better fit
I get better to 60 numbers with the Ev6 on normal roads I pull a 3.3 3.2 to 60 even on draggy app some guy ran a 11.3 in a 1/4
I LOVE this format.

They were too busy coming up with quirky zingers to notice 🙄🙄
The M8 Comp's actual time is 32.0 @140.3
It's probably the difference in acceleration and handling.
I'm getting a Rayn Reynolds vibe from the voice-over. 🤣
For everyone in the comments moaning about the tyres Carwow dragged a Demon with the proper loadout and it did the qtr in 12 which is still piss poor
That EV6GT is 0.6 seconds behind a BMW M3 competition and 0.8 seconds behind a M8 competition. FFS Its a Kia SUV. The world has gone mad. The Challenger is a serious embarassment. The only thing it wins is the little pinky finger award.
You're wrong. Ev6 gt is faster than m3 already.
Dodge is just sad on the street when it comes to handling and drag racing.
Probably because it's built out of an old Mercedes designed in the 90's....

Can't wait to see what the Ionic5 N can do
Yes! Patiently waiting so we can pre order in US. 140 more hp then the ev6 so it should be quick one
Imagine buying a car that can’t launch well outside of a drag strip and can’t turn to any directions except straight line… 😂
I've been saying the same thing since the Hellcat initially came out, waste of power for real life driving , don't even attempt to drive it in wet or cold weather !
I love the uraces. Please keep them coming.

I can't wait to see the Escalade IQ vs EV9 GT drag race. And even though Kia says the EV6 is a crossover, I think it's a sporty hatch.
Damn, this and the Shelby would be close
EVs are definitely the future, and they will eventually own the performance records, but the classic muscle car is still a thing to experience. That said, this is more a test of RWD versus AWD on a less-than-ideal-surface, rather than ICE versus EV. It is representative of what would happen at a light, but would the tables turn at the track on a prepped surface and drag radials?
Once again, the "Black Ghost" gets ghosted and gapped! This Dodge Challenger has a famous name and big reputation that it's not living up to, but this rare car will bring in megabucks at Barret Jackson and Mecum.
Leave it to doge to put thin all seasons on a car with 800hp
You know what's funny tho... Those so called " boats" keep up with the mustangs and Camaros and weigh 500 lbs more. I've seen plenty of boats gapp mustangs and Camaros

I thought the ev6 would lose this one. Imagine spending that much for the Challenger and getting smoked IRL by an ev6 GT!
Wow the Black Ghost costs more than a Demon 170? That’s crazy 😂
Wtf really?
That’s surprising, almost 3k more for what exactly?
All of these chargers and challengers are all the same, you have to be an idiot to fall for these stupid trims.
“Black ghost” = a stupid gator skin wrap on the roof and a badge placed somewhere else for almost $30k
I’ll give Mopar props, they know how retarded their fans are
For now, wait till markups hit em.
No matter what "special" edition label Dodge slapped onto the Challenger, the result is always the same.
Who do had tought you will ever see a Kia beating a muscle car😂
Kia Stinger GTs have often been getting the best of GT mustangs, SS camaros and Scat Challengers for 5 yrs already. Also underpowered comparatively but AWD.. KIA isn't bringing a knife to a gun fight these days and it's kinda funny all the denial and haters!
Because it's electric. Instant torque and short race range, already knew what would win tbh
High engineered European sedans would beat most of american muscle cars
@jonpetter8921 nobody's talking about European cars. This is about how one electric car performed against an American benchmark in power and performance. You mad extra cuz some euros really can't. That's another talk for another time
What is the weight on that EV...
Mopar loses a lot of races on this channel😂
All that horsepower and can’t put it to the ground😂
I'm surprised they kept the regen mode ON in the EV6, especially when it was at level 3 (almost MAX). Either way, was nice to watch.
Why? Makes no difference to the performance.
@@StuartJ True. I believe you'll still get the full performance/power with your foot and pedal to the floor, but if you've ever driven with the regen high, once you let off of the pedal even just a little, the vehicle will apply the regen brakes without driver input.
AWD vs 2WD. Been proven a bunch of times Challengers get no traction off the line.
it wasn't gaining even after the U-turn
That black ghost with the white strip at the back and the wheels, it's just BEAUTIFULLLL!!!! 🤭♥️♥️🔥😂
well, what did i expect, ev6 gt is unmatched, just a better car, what a beast, how come it will be outdated its modern tech, i would take it over a challenger anyday, just a better car overall
It’s electric, of course it will beat it. It’s got the instant torque and awd. And knowing the challenger doesn’t like corners, traction, and has rwd, you gotta admit it did pretty damn good.
Tbf if that was on a drag strip with better tires on the Dodge it might have a chance. That's a lot of qualifiers though.
The Ev6 Gt will still not outferforn a 2016 model 3 performance. That car is now 7 years old. And the model 3 is even more efficient 😅
@Maarten_vs you kidding me, hell no the ev6 gt is faster, carwow has drag raced one and the model 3 performance is not faster than the ev6gt, on top of that the ev6gt has more tech and better looking
@@benjaminmatute9085Doesnt like weak tires either lolll many owners immediately upgrade
The real winner is the sound of that supercharger... my god it's sweet...
Before watching- this should be interesting. My guess us that this will all come down to the Kia's brakes.
If thr Kia's brakes work great, it will win. If not the challenger should be able to claw back s win on the return trip. If the driver nails the launch and turm at the end.
Lets see how wrong i am!
High horsepower means nothing if you can’t hook up. No excuses.
Would be interesting to see one of the faster cars against a sport bike like a new Yamaha R1. The turn is very unique and would make it interesting.
Anything short of a hypercar would get eaten up by the R1. You'll probably need something akin to the S Plaid, Sapphire, SF90 or the Nevera.

That was satisfying to watch. Where I live, we have Dodge guys lighting up their tires daily at stoplights.
Traction control.
And just think after dealer markup the black ghost is closer to 125-150k. So 800 plus hp, 125k...real world 0 to 60 in 4.5 - 5.0....and a mid to high 12. quarter....what a POS!!
