    I purchased an F1 a few days ago, and was a bit worried at first when I saw this video title. However, after watching it you confirmed that my choice was the correct one. For what I want to do with it, I think the F1 was a better choice :)

    Thank you for the review. Still investigating and trying to determine what may work best for me. I am glad you included the accessories. I think you indicated that the accessories are not machine dependent - if I buy the x-tool slider it will work with the f4, and vice versa - is that correct? I want the ability to start engraving ,etal projects. People have asked me to engrave on the back of watches and badges, etc. I tell them my CO2 doesn't engrave metal - would like to be able to do this. How accurate can you place the engraving and how small on each of these lasers? Do they both run off of lightburn? Thank you in advance for any insights you can share.

    Great review - you are definitely the American Vangard.
    Do any of these new cheaper machines offer a camera and outline feature?
    I need to cut out pre-printed tiles like your "FALSE" example - and btw I like that a lot. I would like to apply printed stuff and cut out the pieces. The LaserBoxes do this from the front panel for just $5,999. Yeah right. I don't need the same speed, but something close would be nice. The old Brother knife cutters would do this.

    I have a couple of xTool lasers and a couple of LaserPecker lasers. I was hoping your video came out a little sooner, but I appreciate you doing it 🙂 I ended up purchasing the xTool F1. @The Reformation Woodshop - Both engravers look great tools in their own right, but you didn't really convey anything about their portability, which is the primary reason I initially went with LP, it's great for running literally anywhere on a power bank and I wholeheartedly agree on LP's build quality is second to none for a young kick-starter company, although their price reflects that quality, they lack consistent firmware support and bad overall time it takes to get technical hardware support outside their Facebook groups. I'm shocked to see how many people are selling their LP1s/2s/3s and 4's on marketplace and eBay lately. Thanks for the informative review.

    the darker engraving from the metal business cards is probably the power because it might actually be engraving the metal depending on the material instead of just taking off the paint.

    • @ReFreshRC
      @ReFreshRC 10 месяцев назад +1

      Most likely it's engraving metal differently. Metal engraving can have different colours depending on the laser settings.

    • @Zodliness
      @Zodliness 10 месяцев назад +1

      My LP2 does a great job at burning the paint clean off aluminium business cards in one pass, however if I raise the laser above the recommended height, I can actually discolour the aluminium as well, with multiple passes, changing the focal point between passes, I can achieve some pretty cool effects in the metal and painted surface. Doesn't hurt to play some! 😉👍

    • @daleplant5275
      @daleplant5275 3 месяца назад

      @@Zodliness I am just learning. Isn't the effect on metals (once pass paint) and things like stone a reactive process. The material reacts and can be colored varyingly based on settings. For example on slate this results in the "engraving" being raised above the rest if the surface a bit instead of a recess?

    Good point on the shroud moving your piece when you take on and off.
    Can you in the app or on the machine, control lifting up by a certain amount and then down by a specific amount?
    While still not as easily done as the other, if you can control exactly how much you raise and lower it by, you wouldn't have to refocus it every time.
    Still not as easy, but could be a work around if that is the sticking point between the two when deciding and they like everything about it but that

    The key performance difference came from the laser modules used. LP4 uses an American II-VI (formerly Coherent, the inventor of laser) laser module, which is based on an extremely reliable but old technology (passive Q-switch) mostly used in military ignition and ranging applications, while the F1 uses an undisclosed laser source, presumably JPT or Raycus from China, which is supposed to be much more advanced but delicate, this type of laser (either active Q-switch or edge-pumped fiber) is commonly used in industrial engravers and rust cleaners. In terms of peak power and power uniformity, the F1 kills. At 8:20, the gray color you saw is due to insufficient laser energy causing the paint to be burnt, but not ablated properly.

    you did not compare the price value ? I feel like the F1 is more expensive than the LP4 overall

      It is also better in every single way, so that makes sense.

      @@bestyoutubernonegraternumber1 Well that is ot what is said in the video, globally it is just a tiny bit quicker and have a smaller work surface (and yes a nicer protective cover design)
      Plus it is easier to use on a wall or a vertical surface I believe
      (I don't speack about the accessories here)

      @@MaxValembois Make sure you claim it in pursuit of starting a business or buy it as a business purchase, then a higher price is better.

    they came out different colors because ypi didn't do the focus right, for laserpecker4, if you want it to be white and crispy, you will need those two red dots tp be on each others as close as possible, the more they are aparted, the more gray will be on the work.
