Thank you so much for giving the masses free education! I'm a beauty school dropout with chronic illness. I cut my own hair just because it's physically too hard to get into the salon. Your videos have made my life so much easier!! I appreciate your tips for students/practicing hairdressers too - like what kind of mannequin heads you use. Practice makes better beauty! 💕

Thank you so much for understanding how to teach someone to cut their own hair. There are so many videos on here that are so confusing but you took the time to take small steps so we can follow along. Big Thank You. Lots of hair dressers on here who do not know how to teach.

I'm with you 100% on the base being more solid. It gives a much more organized feel to the cut while not being too rigid. The combination of layers and blunt ends is bomb! Thanks for the video.

THANK YOU for teaching that the strong line helps strengthen the cut, and you can STILL give it lots of movement, without shattering the crap out of the structure. I like to razor cut, too, but this just confirms to the client, WHY regular cuts are important for keeping a style looking fabulous. This is just as loose, free and sexy, and really an easy cut to follow.

Thank you so so much for this video! Honestly I was dreading to go to the salon because most people that work at those places here make you feel like you're a defendant in court and that you're guilty by default but you gotta go through the interrogatory anyway and the worst thing is that they don't even know how to cut hair and have the nerve to charge after that. Lucky for me I found your video and it's so well done my Mom cut it for me and it looks awesooome!!! Great instructions, great quality of video, love you Matt, you saved my hair :)

Wow. You don't even know how grateful I am to have found this channel. Not only do you cover some of the basics I learned in hair school, but really how to properly apply those basics, such as shape of the head in relation to cutting lines. Not to mention this particular haircut, which I have actually stressed a bit to myself while browsing pinterest and seeing this haircut again and again that I wouldn't quite know how to get it just right if a client requested this.

Love your videos Matt, could you do a video just on the various ways you section hair and why? I know you have a specific way that you section hair that seems slightly different in almost every video but Im having a hard time retaining all of them.I know you explain your reasons for the partings before each cut but If you could do one video with a rundown on how you go about choosing which sectioning to use I could write them down and categorize it in my brain better.. hope that makes sense and again thanks so much for the education. I’m 22 years old and I’ve only had my hair cut in a salon maybe 5 times? Otherwise it’s been my aunt, my older brother (with clippers?? No scissors??), the kitchen of a family friend who *used to* work in a salon, and most recently, myself. But this video alone made me want to go to a salon and get a haircut as soon as possible. It’s so complex! So much volume! Not something in my skill set right now. Wow 🥺😍

thank you guys for choosing my cut! I was half asleep and saw the headline. ..then saw my question and thought I was delusional. ;) very helpful, I have a few different methods I use now so I can definitely add this... it's much quicker and more structured, since I do always end up going in with a razor. Jose Rivera had a good follow up to this, he asked what if the client wants to have a slight A line in the front? :) would you change up the sectioning?
    thanks again! jen

Thank you very much! I love how you explain, find it very clear. I watched the video and immediately tried it on my partner. (Well, that was what I was watching it for, lol!)
I am very much a beginner, and have never had any training (though I have cut hair quite a few times before, bleached it, dyed it, and made dreadlocks). So, I have some feedback, but I understand it comes from my beginner perspective:
I found it non-trivial to part the hair in the ways in which you did in the video, and would have very much loved to see how you did it, or even just to have had a link to another video.
When you finished the cut, you jumped straight to styling it. I would have loved to see the mannequin from all angles, after the cut, but without any styling, to compare my efforts to your results.
In any case, I enjoyed the video a lot, and found it very useful. My partner was quite happy with the haircut, and I am very grateful to you for sharing your expertise! Have a great day!

Hi , I love this hair cut, but my hair is thick and wavy. My question is, is this hair cut suitable for thick and wavy hair, and if yes , can you tell me please, what do I say to my hairdresser to get this haircut? Many thanks!

    • @NinjaInConverse
      @NinjaInConverse 7 лет назад +11

Yes, as someone who also has thick wavy hair, this style is great for our hair type. You just won't need to style it as much as he does with the mannequin head. You can try the style at a longer length at first to get a feel for it and then go shorter when you feel more comfortable with it.

I’ve tried getting this cut several times to no avail. I can only get a very simple and boring bob with layers that lay right on top of each other. I show pics, ask for lots of choppy layers, etc. It just never happens. I wish stylist would say I can’t do that...and recommend someone who can. It’s frustrating.

@@vickitrapane4400 and then they charge $50 for a not even five minute cut. It’s starting to get ridiculous. I remember paying $35 for a cut that took 15 minutes, and then check through and make adjustments. Now it’s just in and out give me money!

I cut my own hair following this tutorial last September. It’s June now, and my hair has grown with structure intact and I get lots of positive comments on my “haircut.” But the truth is it hast been cut for 10 months! That’s how good this haircut is. So thank you!
