It's crazy! I had a RUclips recommendation of the song "twisted Lobotomy"... A song I hadn't heard because I've only really listened to Alison Hell, Word Salad etc era Annihilator... "Twisted Lobotomy" freaking slays, shows his vocal arrangements are unique and spot on. Even more than that, I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT WAS ACTUALLY STILL HIM. by far the most healthy looking from the era. Voice still intact, still plays with real energy. Dude looks young.
I just found this band and I have played for 25 years. Dude is a savage. Actually listening to this to learn the guitar. Criminally underrated shredder. I was at my brothers house and he was watching some old school MTV and this was on Metal Mayhem and I was in shock that these guys are not known by everyone for the guitar licks. Super clean playing.
I just love how bare their stage setup is for a fest. Annihilator doesn't need pyrotechnics or an entire ensemble. The music speaks for itself. Holy fuck they're precise.
This is the most Canadian frontman performance I've ever seen in my life, and goodness me the sound is absolutely amazing for a live set. The drums sound gorgeous.
@@stinkypinkeee5085 fucking oath. Roadracer was killing it, they gave us Sepultura Obituary Xentrix type o negative and heaps more bands I wonder what happened to em. Did they become roadrunner records cause sepo went to roadrunner
Is nobody gonna talk about how Jeff is doing the vocals and is still stupid tight?? Annihilator pretty much always had frontmen while Jeff was doing guitar work. This is insanely impressive
Actually he is not a very good singer, more like average. But I guess he had no choice here, the bands lineup has never been stable which are sad, because with a guy like Jeff writing songs there is so much potential. But a stable lineup does always help, it also keeps spirit up. And Jeff is such an amazing guitarist, one of my all time favourites! And the fact he sings here and still plays as tight as usual is amazing. And for the same reason I respect Mustaine a lot.
I've been always impressed about the live sound of Annihilator, they sound great and really fresh, the tone is incredible like they're in the studio, great performance.
They know they are the shit, they know they sound perfectly tuned, they know they have one best of a drummer and they know the boss is bloody Jeff Waters; so it's ok to be cocky.
Despite the fact that I've always felt that Annihilator is Canada's answer to Megadeth since the 80s it's hard to deny that they've made some great songs and albums through the years. And Jeff Waters is one of the most underrated guitar players in Metal. Daresay if there was no Dave Mustaine we would probably be talking about him in that way. Either way, Annihilator is Canadian Metal royalty up there with Razor and Anvil and deserve more praise. This classic song of theirs is evidence of that. \mm/
Hammerhed brought me here lmfao! Ive been a fan since highschool in late 80s and they would be impressed by Hammerheds cover! 3 kids with about 40 years of life between em.
Saw Annihilator with Testament & Wrathchild America at the S. Hills theater in Pittsburgh, in 1989. Man I was a young pup then! Great bill and kick ass tunes. Randy Rampage singing for them at the time, but it's cool to see Jeff singing here. Retaining a singer was always a sore spot for these guys apparently!
unfortunately, over the years, there were too many so called "event fans", like "hey you must be at wacken for once in a while" but they don't listen to metal. But that's a problem with all festivals, that there are always people who only want to drink a lot of alcohol and partying but don't care about the music.
Slayer know how they are loved in Russia! I was at their concert in St. Petersburg, but this is not the main thing-the main thing is that in the days of my youth the music of this group and many other thrash bands inspired us and supported us. And we listened to Slayer when the Communists banned even kiss! And during "perestroika" many of us in the pocket was a package of "grass" and we were drunk every day, and under the sofa was hidden some weapons, and such as we never stooped to listen to the Patriotic "pop". Only thrash! For all time! Music that will not betray! And we will not! I don't give a shit about any ruler, any fucking religion! Our religion is the truth of life! We are together with the whole world, and the whole world is for us!
Actually the crowd is quite active and amazing, but sadly Wacken recordings aren't capturing the crowd's sound, only the band. Listen to any recording from the festival, you can barely hear the audience in any of them.
I am so glad I came across this band they are awesome especially this song it’s my favourite Ive got it on my Spotify play list too, shame randy is gone but at least they are still going strong.
Been a guitar player for decades; I love metal and distortion, Annihilator riffs and Jeff Waters' six-string wizardry... But a metal band without a decent drummer, at least a decent-sounding drum _kit,_ loses a lot of impact. The toms on this kit sound pretty great.
Damn, out of all the 80s thrashers, Jeff Waters is hands down in best state. He looks as young and thundering as he did in the 90s.
Jeff Waters is one of the coolest shredders on the planet.

yup hes also been sober for a very long time too.
Omg please give this sound guy a gold medal
Exactly. Mix was excellent.
Fucking agreed
Yes.
Sure!!!
One of the best live mixes I have ever heard
Jeff is one of the cleanest guitarist there is in metal, fantastic technique and extremely well performed.
The fact you can tell he loves what he is doing makes it that much better
Ah yeah dude, he's so genuinely in love with metal. You will always have a following if you are in it for the right reasons. So much love for Jeff.
Underrated Canadian metal band. They deserve more attention!
RabuHina I know I Directed Alison Hell (Official).. Thought we would do more videos... Oh well it has had a lot of eyes .!
you know it...ffs
we canadians rock
+James Taylor did you ever try to contact them again?
I saw em in 89 with testament....
Jeff performance here is so tight it gives me chills! one of the most underrated shredders out there!

4:23 is one of the best pentatonic licks I've ever heard!
It’s a cracker. Not easy to come up with a lick that hasn’t been done using that scale.
This is the most Canadian frontman performance I've ever seen in my life, and goodness me the sound is absolutely amazing for a live set. The drums sound gorgeous.
1:39 Kerry King himself came to see how to really play the guitar lol
😂 😂 😂
Haha!
and then we hear Slayer wants to split up... Coincidence?
Never learned...
OMG hahahahahahahaha
This little drummer boy is killing it!
the drumming is excellent
i thought the same, he sounds perfect
@IDK DRC Yeah...... to stuck on his ridebell.
Yeah, tight as fuck!
Tight guy, for sure! I dislike the sound of the snare tho, very similar to the bass drum sound
Compared to the album, the drum sound is excellent - plus, it's rendered perfectly by stellar drumming!
Jeff is a fantastic guitar player, frontman and song writer... Good to see him keeping the band going 🤘🏻
Might be the most underrated band of all time
i dont think the rest of the band were even born when this album came out
Jeff was 23 at the time
what a bunch of whiny little bitches the lot of you..

Some highly skilled musicians right there!
Kudos to Jeff waters. Throughout all the lineup turmoil, he’s managed to keep the band as awesome as ever
Tribute goes out of my late cousin who was an original singer of the band ❤️🙏🏻

Yup Jeff doesn't want the band to die. Was not the vocalist then.. and not my favorite now hahaha.. still great guitarist.
That band is impressive and considering that it's practically all Jeff Waters' material and ideas is even more astonishing!
Jeff Waters is soooo underrated. Criminally underrated. And from the interviews I've seen, he seems like a really cool guy too.
I've been always impressed about the live sound of Annihilator, they sound great and really fresh, the tone is incredible like they're in the studio, great performance.
Crowd: "______"
Jeff: "In hell."
They are singing actually, you just cant hear it because of instruments.
Крутейшая команда. Огромный жирный лайк ставлю! Очень качественная музыка, высочайший уровень игры

This song is still awesome in 2019.
It will always be!
Still is even in 2024 trust me :)
Jeff should hire Ripper Owens. He is perfectly suit for Annihilator
으헝헝 that’s actually a great idea
I've thought that since the Roadrunner United performance. Annihilator would feel complete with Ripper.
So true.
오ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
he´s got too much ego for that
cannot help but notice the excellent live performance. Impressed!
I love all the little pinch harmonics/little quirks he does in the solo. Really something special
They are playing well but the crowd is ridiculous
the ground is full of mudd you cant mosh pit in that
Listen i was there. It was 10am, you see 12 concerts a day for 3 days. I aint no spring chicken. You can't have same energy in these festivals....
Baita banda! Mereciam ter feito mais sucesso. Esse álbum é sem dúvida um Top 10 do Thrash
Amazing Jeff continues to be a driving force and making a living playing METAL. Cheers!

The sound is impressive, the drums are better than the original track. Miss Randy in the vocals. So nice to see Jeff and Annihilator still alive.
Jeff doesn't look older than early thirties! Rock on bro
I am not a fan of this type of particular music but they are tight as hell. Great production also......Very good men.

WoW man! The sound of the drum is fucking amazing!! The soundman and the tech team did an amazing job and of course, this guy knows how to play!!!

Pure metal. Greatness.
Old school

He's truly an inspiration being vocalist, guitarist and entertainer. And he's in a good shape at his age. Well done Jeff 🤠
This seven years ago but still you are right
now that's a real front man right there wow, i love it
I play guitar. I watch this video repeatedly just to listen to the drumming.
During my era, every metalheads must love this tune or die!

This is metal, endless. those boys were even born when this song came out but they enjoy it as much as the old timers.

I really enjoy listening to AnnihilAtor. One of the most underrated trash metAl bands! There songs are compact and truly badass!

I was there, they indeed sounded very tight that day, I was so disapointed by the crowd though but we were standing in inches of mud.
