The video is even more powerful, along with the song. Especially the ending, looking into the lives of a perfect life and a perfect family, when real life is so screwed up.
What most people don't get is that we're all one bad decision from going on top of life to the rock bottom. I've been on both sides of the coin, have had plenty and I've been without.
@Yvette Brand no offense intended. I don't know you, or your circumstances. But I see people that are always in trouble with the law complaining about it as if they didn't break the law again. Or people complain about lack of money but somehow have money for tatoos/drugs/alchohol/phones/etc. I heard about this girl who had 3 kids from 2 different guys and got mad some guy slept with her on the first date then won't return her calls. All I could do was laugh at her. If you ever find yourself in a hole, first thing you do is STOP DIGGING.
@@matthewgraham2619 And to the millions who stop digging, there lives don't improve anyway, at last in part because no one can see past the bad circumstances that led to their bad outcomes. Most of where you end up has to do with where you start from. A lot of the rest is just dumb luck. A much much smaller portion is personal choices, but that's all anyone ever focuses on.
I was 35 when this song came out in 1998; I loved it from the first listen. Absolutely one of the best and most meaningful songs to come out of the 90s!
I was 16 and this was one of the first CDs I bought with my own money, along with "Back in Black", "Appetite for Destruction" and the Blues Brothers soundtrack. I don't know why I got "Whitey Ford" but I'm glad I did and I still have that CD some 20 years later.
Love this song & if people could always place themselves in someone else’s shoes before using human negative traits such as Judgement, Shame, Greed, Lack of empathy...this song reminds people that they can easily end up in the same situation. Those who can place themselves in another’s shoes & understand what they might be going through, thank God for your compassion & empathy.
The family at the end is their own family- that homeless guy was the dad, the daughter was the pregnant lady, and the son was the guy with piercing. They were a happy/perfect family, yet unlucky things could still happen to them.
I usually hate reaction video’s. But you wear your heart on your sleeve. Your facial expressions when the lyrics hit you seriously gave me goosebumps. Great song too, obviously.
Some great songwriting about some heavy stuff. Words that hit home as we've all known some people who have gone through this. The older I get, the more I try not to judge and sometimes even help.
This song resonates! I have two of his CD's-Eat At Whitey's and Whitey Ford Sings The Blues. So many good songs. Love For Real, I Can't Move, Babylon Feeling, Ends... please explore further. This was such a great song, and a great reaction. Thank- you.
I was 19 when this song came out. It Was all over the radio and big hit. Listening to it now, and having lived a bit more life, the song really hits home more, when compared to the age I was.
I've watched these videos and listened to these songs all my life, but watching you react to them, and thinking about hearing these songs for the first time, makes me cry while I am watching you. Thank You for letting me walk a mile with your eyes.
I was just a teenager when this song was released in 1998. It's one of the best songs of its time. That tune still sounds so damned good, and its message is so important.
This song is a timeless classic. It is as relevant today as it was the day it came out. I never get tired of hearing it. I wore my cassette out from listening to not only this song but the whole album way too much.
"What It's Like" examines a number of extremely difficult themes in a way few pieces of art ever could. We all have our struggles, we all have weaknesses, and we are all sometimes cruel. Empathy, love, and a desire to help others must be our response, otherwise we are no more human than the beasts of the field.
I use to be a huge House of Pain fan, their second album, On Point was probably one of the most unserrated rap albums ever. I was riduclously pleansantly surprised when he cam Everlast came out with this solo album. If you'd like to react to more Everlast, I'd receommend Ends, Put Your Lights On (technically a Santana song), and So Long.
Throwing out there that Everlast was first a solo act with Ice-T and Rhyme Syndicate. He then was part of the successful House of Pain "Irish" rap trio that had 3 pretty good albums. After that ended he did this style of rock/blues/soul/rap thing. His first three albums under this style were pretty good. I found the 4th to be really lacking production value and was a hard listen. I think he's put out a 5th album in this style recently but I felt to badly burned on #4 to continue. He is a pretty gifted MC.
He also survived i think multiple heart attacks and a rap feud with a guy named Eminem. I saw him live as House of Pain and Whitey Ford. Talented dude! That first House of Pain album is no joke that was all we played that summer.
I know this channel did Southern Man by Neil Young recently too, the riff in this one seems similar to that one to me, and the beat seems similar to For What it's Worth, I always felt Everlast was inspired by both those songs when doing this one
Everlast is a hell of an artist. He doesn't get the credit he deserves
@ I bought a few L-E-D-S, now I'm growin some trees and it's a sweet fucking hustle, don't knock it
@ I'm super jealous
Dam right bro
Always loved this song for its powerful message.
The video is even more powerful, along with the song. Especially the ending, looking into the lives of a perfect life and a perfect family, when real life is so screwed up.
❤
❤
This song never gets old as long as it’s all relevant in our culture. Sadly. 2022.
What most people don't get is that we're all one bad decision from going on top of life to the rock bottom. I've been on both sides of the coin, have had plenty and I've been without.
@Yvette Brand Keep fighting dude , it's totally worth it .
Have a good day !
And lots of people, once at the bottom, continue making bad choices because they lack self control.
@Yvette Brand no offense intended. I don't know you, or your circumstances. But I see people that are always in trouble with the law complaining about it as if they didn't break the law again. Chuck BRADLEY, so very true. But by the grace of God...and we can simply fill in the blanks.

THIS REMAINS AN AMAZING SONG.
1997-98 was a great time for music. A lot of solid songs came out then from all styles of music.
For myself, this one is gonna go down as one of music history's "heavy hitters." Legendary...
More Everlast please! Most underrated musician out there, today.
Everlast has a couple new songs out. Check them out if you havent heard.
india always says the right stuff at right time
These are probably the best lyrics I’ve ever heard.
It's people in general who judge instead of trying to help
HAVE COMPASSION ❤ LOVE IS THE ANSER!!!!!GREAT SONG. Thanks 😊
I was 35 when this song came out in 1998; I loved it from the first listen. Absolutely one of the best and most meaningful songs to come out of the 90s!
i was 8 when this song came out and i also loved it from the first listen. this has always been one of my favorite songs.
I was 28.I loved it then.I love it now.Song still and always will be so powerful. It kicks***.
I was 16 and this was one of the first CDs I bought with my own money, along with "Back in Black", "Appetite for Destruction" and the Blues Brothers soundtrack. I don't know why I got "Whitey Ford" but I'm glad I did and I still have that CD some 20 years later.
"You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start" is still one of my favorite lyrics.
It's very true and very quotable.
One of my fave songs. Says so much, in so little
I know I'm wicked late to the game but: 1) that is a badass poster behind you. 2) Wicked braids! 3) As always, a great reaction and analysis!
The family at the end is their own family- that homeless guy was the dad, the daughter was the pregnant lady, and the son was the guy with piercing. They were a happy/perfect family, yet unlucky things could still happen to them.
this song ALWAYS puts that wobbly feeling in my throat. POWERFUL.
Dont judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. Then you will be a mile away and also have his shoes.
THATS A FACT 👏👏👏 & BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER😊
That is fantastic!
One of my favorite songs ever. Good reaction! Thanks
I usually hate reaction video’s. But you wear your heart on your sleeve. Your facial expressions when the lyrics hit you seriously gave me goosebumps. Great song too, obviously.
If you haven't reacted to the Everlast song "Ends", you should! Whitey Ford has a great perspective on life on this album.
that whole album tells a story, it is fantastic
So glad you got the uncensored version. This was the most censored song on the radio back in the day. They seriously censored the word "green".
I have been in both these positions. This song hits DEEP. Never judge! Much love ❤️
I loved your reaction. I’ve always felt this song in my soul.
I forgot about this song, I loved it back in the day. Thanks for reintroducing it to me again, definitely have to download this one again.
I loved this the first time i herd it. great song. great message.
Some great songwriting about some heavy stuff. Words that hit home as we've all known some people who have gone through this. The older I get, the more I try not to judge and sometimes even help.

Still holds true to this day! Strong message!!🤘🏻
One of my favorite songs of all time, such a powerful message.
I always loved this song. Hard to believe this is the same guy from HOP. Respect.
Don’t look down on anyone unless your bending over to help them up!
This song always hit me because I lived through the first 2 parts of the song...homelessness & pregnant and alone. I can’t listen to it without tears.
My all time favorite song.
Imma have it played at my funeral.
For all the family n others that love to pass judgement.
This song resonates! I have two of his CD's-Eat At Whitey's and Whitey Ford Sings The Blues. So many good songs. Love For Real, I Can't Move, Babylon Feeling, Ends... please explore further. This was such a great song, and a great reaction. Thank- you.

Got this CD back in the late '90's... underrated talent.

House of Pain! Over 25 years later Jump Around still kicks ass!!
One of the best songs ever written. Glad someone new finally pressed play on it
So powerful so much meaning in this song.

I love the way you always view music through clear eyes. And truthful with all your comments.
Thank You
India, you found an excellent song I haven't heard in years. So good to be taken back by that tune. Just another reason I love your channel.

'Saving Grace' theme song and 'Ends' are fabulous Everlast songs
Big contrast from this song and House of Pain's "Jump Around".
Phillip Schwoerke - Hell yeah.
@619 OG
What an arrogant comment.
Nothing he said suggested he thought that, he's only comparing the two because they're radio singles, chief.lol
One of my all time favorite songs. Great message and the world sure needs to hear it right now.
You're so dope. Peace and blessings to you Queen. Wish you nothing but the best. 🙏
Lyrics, vocals, musicianship, song composition, it's a 10...

Solid lyrics. Everlast is the man, the man with the master plan.
It's all about empathy. What the world needs right now.
My favorite song of the last 20 years
You are for real, love the feel of your reactions, on point keep it up

it’s crazy this is the same guy that was in House of Pain. went from Jump Around to What it’s Like. you don’t see too many rappers turned country
Oh yeah, one of my favorite songs!!!!

hm, interesting thought, I gotta check this
PLEASE keep doing more Everlast! He is a very underrated artist with amazing lyrics and stories.
Everlast is underrated. A lot of people overlook him because he had a beef with Eminem. But he has been spewing facts for tens of years now.
This is great. My favourite Everlast song is "Ends". Well worth a try.
I've always heard this song but never listened to it. very deep. even for it's time. thank you for reacting to this
