From my personal experiences as a foreigner (american), i’ve been to both india and bangladesh and the people in Bangladesh are 100x better than indian people. No hate its just the truth. Nearly every interaction i made in india i felt and was certainly being taken advantage of. In Bangladesh however they are genuine people and would sacrifice profit in order to make you happy. Good way to attract more people. Go Bangladesh!!

Bangladesh is a country where you can expect anything any time , saying it as expatriate lived there for 6 years in Dhaka also travelled a bit around BD.
I don’t think solo traveler is fully safe in Bangladesh , I would recommend local but trusted person to help you for trip.
Also always bear on mind it’s Muslim country, conservative society and less modern /open mind than the rest of the world . The food didn’t suit to my taste needs , always over-coked excessively oily and smelly . Traffic is awful . But again , lovely ppl . Thank you Bangladesh for 6 intensive years , every time I meet randomly Bangladeshi in Europe or elsewhere I tell that lived in Gulshan 2 , they look at me with big eyes and smile . Bolo achen ? forgot, my bad bangla 😺
    Tikhe se

Thank you for that wonderful feedback Indigo. Bangladesh is safe for travelers, certainly compared to many other places in the world. Even solo female travelers have felt safe (a little bit annoyingly safe since everyone would be too protective). It grates me that Bangladesh gets such a negative press in the western media. Western tourists usually don't even think about visiting the place. Your efforts could go a long way in bringing in adventure seeking people like you. Now is the best time to visit while people still don't fleece you for your money, are genuinely happy to see you and will go out of their way to help you and be hospitable. These are the country's strength as a destination. Last year's terrorist attacks were a horrible aberration to the norm and most Bangladeshis were extremely disgusted by it. It did not define the people or the country. Come back soon.

Not just due to western media. The tourism industry in your country doesn't advertise. Thus people don't expect to find awesome tourist places in Bangladesh unless they look more closely. After all, Bangladesh has majority of sundarbans, and that should be a major selling point for a tourist destination, like masai maara national park is. Cox bazar is large, but I can draw analogy from Indian beaches and can reasonably claim that the beaches aren't serene and clean, and the water at Bay of Bengal are deep blue.

    • @markinboy
      @markinboy 6 лет назад +2

Ayan Das Very true Ayan. Bangladesh governments have never taken the country's tourist potentials seriously. When they did, they came up with strange ideas like exclusive foteigners only zones with casinos and bars. Why would we sell those things? We have archaelogical sites, history, natural beauty, mighty rivers, tribal heritage, regional variation for such a small country, and of course Sundarbans and the large beach. If they can be backed up with good hospitality industries and the right the kind of advertising, people will come.

Suggestions for next time: Sundarbans= The largest mangrove forest in the world, also has many animals including the endangered Royal Bengal tiger(Bangladesh's national animal). A normal village, Saint Martin(It's a coral beach), The city Ghatail inside Tangail(I used to live there so I want to see what has changed😂). If you do have to stay in Dhaka for a day or two when you come the next time then go to Jamuna future park. It's a very big and fun place. Which places are you travelling next? Did you get any memorable souvenirs from Bangladesh? Like a lungi(search it up, it's "fantastic"). If you didn't, be sure to get one next time.

Thank you for portraying Bangladesh in a positive way. A lot of people especially here in North America where I am, aren’t too aware of where Bangladesh is, they aren’t aware of the culture and there’s a lot of stereotypes and moral panic. I’m really glad you addressed those negative issues with your positive experience. Bangladesh always welcomes you ☺️🇧🇩💞

Seeing is believing ! and I think this gentleman has portrayed the real picture of Bangladesh. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude for him for telling the truth. We welcome you and the like to visit Bangladesh again !
In addition, Bangladesh is the second largest exporter of garments around the world and the literacy rate has gone up to almost 70-80%. GDP is hovering around 5-6% over the last one and half decades- quite a remarkable one in Asian context.Life expectancy is 70 years plus now.
Child and female education rate is remarkable compare to SE Asian country including India, Pakistan and Srilanka. In some economic indicators Bangladesh is now ahead of these countries.
It is one of the most tolerant country in SE Asia as you can see aftermath of Rohingya crisis. We welcomed and accommodated more than 6 million Rohingya. Who else in the world could have done it ?. The country produces two female Prime Minister- almost rare in the whole world. Still running by a female Prime Minister.
The country has a rich history and culture that dates back thousand years. The Pundra Bardhan- ancient capital of the subcontinent is situated at north side of this country and there are many more to visit like Sundarban-the largest mangrove of the world.
We welcome you all to visit Bangladesh.
    Thanks for your patient reading.

Being a Bangladeshi here's more detail about Bangladesh
We're still not as much as developed as India in linguistics nor economics. But we really are developing faster than before.
The terrorists of ISIS who attacked foreigners back at Dhaka, were killed. And further terrorists hidden around cities were captured. No terrorists record since then.
Although I do recommend to have a guide or a known Bangladeshi friend If you're travelling alone.
There are extremely cheap bus, trains and flight tickets. But you also can buy luxurious travels from different sources. So yep that's all!
    Thanks!
