    That guy talking with Charlemagne did not watch James Corden video on fat shaming. He wasn't enabling fat people he just gave his two cents on the delivery bill Maher gave on fat shaming. And if Charlemagne actually watched the full video on James Corden giving his opinion in the matter, James actually told his audience to go watch the whole bill Maher video because there were other things bill Maher mentioned worth listening to. If you think for one second that James Corden was enabling fat people in his video, then you should really educate yourself and not bluntly saying he's a "parasite" when you really haven't done your research on the person you blantly disrespected.

    • @Competitive_Antagonist
      @Competitive_Antagonist 5 лет назад

      Fittness programs help. Diet programs help. Looking at ways to improve their mental health can help. Even cooking lessons can be useful. No one signs up for a fat shaming coach because it's just not helpful. It doesn't tell you how to improve it just shames you for not improving. The guy at 'Every Damn Day Fitness' helps people loose weight. He doesn't fat shame, yet he also doesn't sugar coat things either, which may not be appropriate for some people, yet he does actually care. He doesn't blame or shame the person, but realises that it's a long road for them and that it's possible to turn things around.
      What really pisses me off almost as much as the fat shamers is those who ignore the pathology of obesity. Even summo wrestlers aren't healthy. Why does advocating health require being a dick to unhealthy people? We don't shame smokers, we provide mechanisms for them to quit, then take them away once a couple of people die from black market e-liquid. We don't shame drug addicts. Portugal tried that and now they actually help them instead. Bill Maher is going backwards.

    I hope people will be curious enough to actually go listen to James Corden's rebuttal if they haven't yet. Lenard's account doesn't even come close to making it justice.
    But if there's one thing to take from it, it's that's there's no such thing as "fat shaming". It's good old fashioned bullying.
    You can't keep talking yourself into delusion and keep thinking you're acting out of the kindness of your heart: you're doing this for yourself.
    Whether you resent having to do it or whether you're proud of doing it, you bully "lesser bodies" so you can pat yourself on the back for going to the gym and/or eating kale all day (and not have to be the bullied ones).
    It's your call. It's fine. But quit the hypocrisy. You're no Mother Theresa's. You're not heroes. You're villains.

    I call it the "Punching Bag" mindset. Hurt people tend to shame others because they feel confort in the fact that they have company in their Pain. Fat shaming has nothing to do with Health concerns. Honestly, the Fitness community has more unhealthy people and unhealthy practices than any other communities, but since they "Look Good", it can pass. Shaming is not the same as Motivating. Shaming is giving emotional pain, while Motivating is giving encouragement.

    Okay, so everybody is saying obesity is an individual problem and to an extent it is. However, obesity in America comes from a variety of things. James Gordon was just trying to point out that some people can't control how much weight they gain. If we really want to solve the issues why are we making it rational for people to eat junk food, instead of eating healthy food. Make Healthy Food more accessable!

  • @millabenadon463
    @millabenadon463 4 года назад +2

    I don’t think you properly watched James Cordon’s response to Bill. He stated that fat shaming was not the solution but portion control, education, and proper health care is. He said it needed discussed by professionals and agreed with some of Bill’s arguments. He was aware that this is a major problem but stated fat shaming would do nothing to help.
    As people who are skinny and have never dealt with being over weight, I don’t think it’s correct for you to assume it’s something one can easily change. Shaming someone will not always make them lose weight. Fat people are aware their fat, they’re not stupid and don’t need others reminding them they are.
    Shaming is equivalent to bullying and will most likely deteriorate their self esteem and probably lead to greater health issues. Think about what you say and how it may affect the people around you.

    I agree that shaming can work. But there are people that are fat because of a lot of reasons beyond themselves. We understand that people need to eat better and exercise. But many people don’t know how to make that lifestyle change. It’s hard for the middle to lower class family that has 2 kids and 50000 a year to make a massive lifestyle change away from cheap bad food and to start working out. So yes shame people, but offer a good solution as well.

    You're very wrong about everything here . You CAN absolutely make someone feel shame about things that they ought not be ashamed. Rape victims and victims of child molestation more often than not feel shame from what has happened to them. The attitude and philosophy you speak so brazenly of is the reason that they feel shame. Every person who is overweight has been shamed by someone.... either in their family, or a so-called friend, or by a stranger on the street, or by this very shallow society we live in and its contempt for "unattractive" people. And yet, somehow, with all that 'righteous' shaming going on, obese people continue to exist. So clearly shame does not work - - at least not in the way you think it does. Although, if you choose to ridicule and shame fat people, perhaps you might be able to push them into suicide. Then you can happily be rid of them forever.
