Older forms of ABA and many other forms of teaching spend a lot of time keeping children involved in captured learning. They don't allow a child to escape the task. In this video, we are showing a parent how they can create a motivated learning setting by offering positive reinforcers and lots of fun when the child chooses to stay with the parent. We also allow the child to leave when they want but show them that during teaching time, no reinforcement will be available when they leave. When learning is more fun then escape and interacting with dad is more fun than being alone, this young boy learns to spend his time with dad and begins learning things he wouldn't have learned otherwise.
