  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of good teaching. It studies how people learn to behave and applies those studies to helping children with autism spectrum disorder live better lives. It is based on over 50 years of scientific research and its strategies have been changed and improved over time. As newer techniques are discovered and tested they replace older less effective ones. In ABA the concept is simple; we systematically break down learning into its smallest parts and teach it to the child piece by piece. In effect, we teach the child how to learn. The more skills a child begins to acquire the better they become at learning new skills. This webcast introduces many of the major principles of ABA. It offers information that will allow participants to understand how these principles can be used to provide effective, individualized programming. Mr. Schramm will focus on the primary principal of reinforcement and discuss how motivation can be captured and created to enhance learning.

Dear Robert, thank you. We worked for years with our child using ABA according to your teaching. Without you our life would be absolutely broken. I deeply respect you and your work. You are one of greatest persons I met in my life.

I have been a special ed teacher for many years and have recently received my RBT certification. The 7 steps make so much sense! I was taught to use all of the techniques you mentioned that do not work and they don't. I am exhausted using total physical prompts, blocking methods and trying to determine levels of compliance for data collection. I am super excited to use this strategy during my next session. I have young learners with severe problematic behaviors. I have not been able to create instructional control using what I learned in my RBT training. I would appreciate any updated resources or research you might have. This presentation was very concrete, provided great examples/demonstrations and was easy to understand. Thank you!!
