I've been listening to this show since the mid '80s. I've never heard a better version.

This source is a good deal clearer/less muffled than all other sources I've listened to thus far. Not sure why, but I won't complain!

Garry was and is a talent. A very special bass line. When the estreeters were a band, and they played like a Astral Weeks revisited.

Agreed. This song is basically the rest of the band playing and singing along with an 18-minute bass solo. :)

Greatest performance of this song ever recorded, thank you WMMR! Been listening to this since 1976, it transports me every single time. To think they produced this in front of a couple of hundred fans is astounding. The zenith of the Ragamuffin Gunner/Street Poet era of Bruce. I reckon Roy and Max were playing more like David and Boom and/or Mad Dog during these shows before they found their own groove during the BTR tour later this year. As mentioned already, Gary’s playing is crucial to the narrative of the song. Love it.

Agreed on all points - there's a certain amount of transcendence in early Bruce (especially to your point about playing more jazzy, the extended version--18 minutes !--is otherworldly). Ed Sciaky is a treasure for being so supportive, and he's the reason this tape is of such great quality despite Bruce being relatively unknown at this time.

Thank you for uploading. Best version of my fav BS song, and probably the best little slice of rock n roll I've ever heard. Have had a CD of this show for years and the quality craps out just as it goes into this song --- the guy recording it off MMR back in '75 probably flipped over his Maxell at that point and the second side of the tape was no good. :) This sounds great -- much appreciated!

Most of the show on the cd was "pre broadcast"...meaning a tape source directly off the board...then sent to the station. The last reel was a "broadcast source".
This sounds much better than before.
