I watch Andy Griffith every evening and absolutely love the wholesomeness of it all. Such simpler times. Love all the various music pieces in the show. This is beautiful.
I'm 57 years old and I just saw this show this morning on 7/8/13. I absolutely fell in love with her. Listen to the clip on you tube all day. I was mesmerized..
Joanne sings very well. Her falsetto at the end of the song is impeccable It saddens me that a beautiful and talented lady like her did not bloom in Hollywood as she should have. The tragedy of losing her family at an early age, deafness later, and heartbreaks from broken marriages aren't small hurdles to overcome.R.I.P. Joanne More, that piece above should paint well your legacy
I meet Joanna on a trip to Israel in 1976, she was with her husband at the time. I saw her a couple of times after that. She was very kind and funny, so sorry she died before her time.
What a beautiful scene. The music, the smiles they give each other, the looks in their eyes, and little Ronnie Howard clapping away at the end. Absolute magic.
I loved the Andy Griffith Show and still watch reruns regularly. Since discovering this clip on RUclips I have watched and listened to it over and over. Feel so bad that this lovely woman died so young from drugs and alcohol. Joanna voice is like an angel’s, and Ryan O’Neil certainly was not worth her ruining and losing her life over losing him.
Love The Andy Griffith Show; I watch episodes from our DVD collection, I like the fact my grandson enjoys the show as much as his grandpa does! I know this song and have it on our mp3 collection - beautiful song, lovely voice. Such a beautiful girl, Joanne Moore, beautiful voice but a sad life. Thank you for the memory.
My fav episode! Love her with Andy - wonderful chemistry - always wondered why they didn't put them tog perm. Their singing is superb - could listen all day. Thanks for sharing.
My gosh; that rendition is the most beautiful I've ever heard, but more importantly, she sings soooo wonderfully, and I am blown away. I think that too is my best clip of the show, and thanks for sharing it. Just wonderful...wow!
I started crying because I hadn’t ever hear this song sand so beautifully. She is a true vocal talent the like of which we don’t see anymore. I NEED to find this song on Itunes but am unable to find her music anywhere.
I believe she had a couple of singles that were put out. You can find them on and off on -Bay or at a record store that goes pretty deep. Also there is some of her work on RUclips. I am also a big fan, and I would like to know more about her. Her Life story is a difficult one. A beautiful woman.
so thought i’ve seen every episode dozens of time and never remembered this episode. He speaking voice and Singing voice are beautiful! I’d definitely get voice training to sound like her. Tatum smiles like her mother.
Nice that you included the brief dinner table scene at the beginning. For years, I've been imitating Andy's "mmmmMMMM!" when someone asks me if I like the food.
This was a great scene; a beautiful song sung brilliantly by a beautiful woman. I wish there was a version of her singing out there somewhere for download. The closest I've found on iTunes was by Elizabeth Mitchell. The name of the song is "Down in the Valley."
I accidentally clicked the thumbs Dow because I wanted to see who would do and why !,,, ...?.. Love love love thank you ,, I always put Andy on when I need a pick up and I just watched for the millionth time and I still cry every time I hear this song
I love this actress...She's very beautiful . Joanna Moore was so sweet to Andy and Opie...I'm so sorry for her health problem I only wish she had found the fellowship of AA and NA. R.I.P. Miss Joanna Moore ❤😔🙏
I am watching this episode and was just STUNNED when I heard this rendition of Down in the Valley by Joanne Moore - I had no idea she could sing. Is it definitely her singing? If so, she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing this.
The Andy Griffin show, was a bit before I was allowed to watch TV I'm discovering it now and I absolutely love it, please tell me that all the stuff that is going on now in Hollywood on TV was not going on then because I just love Andy Griffin I think he's wonderful and this episode I agree was awesome
A true Southern Bell born in Americus, GA. They moved her body back to Americus to be buried next to her parents. Her real name, Dorothy Joanne Cook. Her parents passed as a child and adopted by a rich family. She kept the last name of her first husband, Moore.
She is beautiful in and out. It shows in everything she does. I agree... She and Andy should have been married. Thank you for sharing and may God bless all of you.
This is my favorite clip, too! That's why I looked it up. Her voice is so beautiful. I also did not know whe was married to Ryan O'Neil and that Tatum was her daughter. Thank you so much for this wonderful clip and info.
A total beauty and a sweet spirit. She was the best of Andy's girlfriends and I would have loved to have seen her be a regular for several years. her and andy had nice chemistry and her personality blended well to the spirit of Mayberry.
I read about Miss Peggy that Andy said he didn't feel she was the right fit for the show and Miss Peggy had some thing's going on to. I believe it was Aneta Corsaut ( Helen Crump) that had an affair with Andy Griffith while he was married at that time. Aneta Corsaut never married or had children. She passed away at age 62 from cancer November 6, 1995.
Miss Peggy had such a beautiful singing voice. I would have enjoyed seeing her as Andy’s permanent girlfriend. She was so pretty. I remember Floyd saying she had the face of an angel.
in the storyline of the show, this woman would have been the perfect partner/wife/mother. That's probably why it never was scripted. Shows thrive on scripted conflicts, anxieties, mis-understandings etc. Always had hoped that Andy and Miss Peggy were going to be 'the one'. What Joanna endured in her life away from the sound stage, was a tragedy.
Loved loved Joanna Moore poor lady I can understand why she and her kids got messed up dealing with the self absorbed Ryan Oneil. Yes I love her singing in this episode I see where Tatum got her looks.
This is my favorite clip as well. If you like this perhaps you may like another old clip. Look up the partial lyrics, "come wander with me love, come wander with me" and watch the clip. I love you tube for all the music I though I would never ever hear again!
Joanna Moore attended Greensboro Senior High School where I went in the 60's and I remember she was in several stage productions there. Had no idea she would be famous later on. Even though I read she is from Georgia she at some point lived in Greensboro when she was younger. Interesting. Thanks for posting this clip; my husband thought she had the most beautiful eyes!
@carolellen1: Are you sure you're thinking of the same person? This Joanna Moore graduated from high school in 1952 and was well into her professional career from 1956 onward.
Ronnie was a good musician in his own right. He played the guitar on TAGS as well as Happy Days. I don't understand why they had him stop with the guitar and play a saxophone which he COULDN'T play!
I read someplace that the producers of the Andy Griffith show dropped Joanna because she was too pretty, and Ryan O'neil is an asshole she was too good for him anyway, just a shame her life became a shambles after their divorce.
In another video I found out that she went completely deaf shortly after this. I believe which attitude the tragedies in her life I can't even imagine what that did to her emotionally after already going through so much tragedy her entire life to have search gifts and then be tortured by them being taken away and struck down before her time. Somebody should do a life story movie on her but who in the world could ever portray her with that voice...? R.I.P.
I believe I read she left bc she got pregnant with Tatum oneal. Very sad story Ryan was a horror show of a man husband and father. He met her and got her pregnant within hrs of meeting her . He got her pregnant again right away as Griffin is less than a year younger than Tatum. They divorced soon after and she became very depressed by him leaving her for his co star on Peyton place he got that co star leigh Taylor young pregnant married than divorced soon after . Ryan liked to spread his seed around in his youth . It's sad bc Joanna was so beautiful and talented and had that beautiful voice a real southern beauty. Her grandson Kevin McEnroe wrote a book about her life loosely . I don't know if it's good but fans of ms Moore should check it out . So sad how Ryan was so callous and heartless not only to his first wife but his 2 kids . Sounds like he was partly to blame for her downfall. U don't get a woman pregnant twice back to back who has a career than drop her . His parents made excuses that he was too young for her the age difference was about 6 or 7 years not that crazy. If u want to know all about the oneals and Joanna read a paper moon by Tatum it's pretty heartbreaking and explosive . I don't think I ever read a celebrity book that just tells all. Ryan literally comes off as a monster and I believe it he did an ijnterview with piers Morgan blaming Tatum for Farrah Fawcett s cancer which us outrageous. Tatum hasn't seen the woman in 25 years . Farrah literally a 30 something woman had no problem letting Ryan abandon his minor young teen kids . I know people love Farrah and maybe she is as kind as people say and they weren't her kids but as a woman how are u ok with a man dumping his kids on t heur own ? Sorry a lot of info but I farely recently read the book that's why I looked up Joanna Moore.
I really enjoy this scene from The Andy Griffith Show. Andy and Joanne's voices harmonize beautifully.
This particular scene makes the greatest demand on Andy’s vocal musicianship of all the musical scenes I can recall in the run of the show.
Love it. So sweet.
This is my favorite episode as well. Her other 3 episodes are my second third and fourth favorite episodes I can watch them all day . God bless her ❤️
I watch Andy Griffith every evening and absolutely love the wholesomeness of it all. Such simpler times. Love all the various music pieces in the show. This is beautiful.
Peggy was an angel.....so beautiful and her voice and charisma gave such grace, fun, and beauty to this show. What a mistake not choosing Peggy. 💗💗💗
Big mistake.
She played opposite Elvis Presley in the movie Follow That Dream in 1962.
I completely agree.
LOVE all the episodes with Miss Peggy! Especially "Andy's Rich Girlfriend " CLASSIC!.
I just walked in the house, the TV on, and they had just started singing this. Wow - came right to RUclips to search for it. So beautiful - -
Awesome thank you
Omg she was beautiful and that voice 😍
I'm 57 years old and I just saw this show this morning on 7/8/13. I absolutely fell in love with her. Listen to the clip on you tube all day. I was mesmerized..
U still alive bro? If so I just started watching the andy show I'm 23 and man has this scene captivated me
Joanne sings very well. What great song !
I lost wife on November 29 2021
Married for 40 years.
I love you , Geneva
I always scan the upcoming episodes to see her every time she is on…🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
Andy and Joanna sing that so beautifully. I've heard other versions, but theirs is the best.
Simply sublime duet! Simply tragic story! Glorious!!!
She was lovely and talented.
Her episodes were some of the very best of the Andy Griffith Show.
I'll never stop loving this song they left for us to hear. Thank you Andy and Joanne (Tatum oNeils Mom).
I meet Joanna on a trip to Israel in 1976, she was with her husband at the time. I saw her a couple of times after that. She was very kind and funny, so sorry she died before her time.
Love her!! Beautiful woman,
Beautiful Voice too!!
That was my favorite episode!!!
Love this song. ❤
and the voice - beautiful!!!
What a beautiful voice and a beautiful lady!
This 'duet' really perfection personified. Joyousness!
Well said!
What a beautiful scene. The music, the smiles they give each other, the looks in their eyes, and little Ronnie Howard clapping away at the end. Absolute magic.
There was not enough diversity.
I loved the Andy Griffith Show and still watch reruns regularly. Since discovering this clip on RUclips I have watched and listened to it over and over. Unbelievably haunting - fine blend of beauty & voice

Agree completely, best rendition and fits well with her voice.
Best version by far...bless her soul....
This is also my favorite. What an amazing voice!

Yes, it's all her...I love her voice. Beautiful lady.
She recorded a record
Nothing like this anymore.So 😥 😥 sad.😞😞😞😞
I agree with you. This is my favorite clip. I could listen to them all day. She was a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.
Peggy was the best girl in Mayberry She sang this song with real heart !!!
Griffith. His show was marvelous!

Such a beauty
You're right, this was a special episode. Her southern accent is the real deal. Joanna was also in a very memorable episode of The Fugitive.
always loved this episode (floyd is hysterical) and she was a fine singer too, pity she didn't stay on longer.
She was one of the prettiest women ever
I absolutely love this song!!!!
Back when an actresses were real what a beauty and such a voice
AGREE, She went to the College here in Decatur, close to my home
That was quite beautiful indeed. Thanks for sharing. I think this just became my favorite scene from Andy Griffith too.
This is my favorite clip, too! That's why I looked it up. Her voice is so beautiful. I also did not know whe was married to Ryan O'Neil and that Tatum was her daughter. Thank you so much for this wonderful clip and info.

I totally agree
loved the video, check out Mary Lou by the Creative Force, amazing
jpm4444 I feel the same way. She was so pretty and if that was really her voice it was beautiful.
@@reginakasakevics7891 Miss Peggy was my favorite of Andy's girlfriends.
Simone Bell oh me too most certainly. I’m so sorry her life and children’s lives were so painful.
Beautiful lady ❤

Perfectly beautiful and oh so charming!!!
a really good song!
Miss Peggy had such a beautiful singing voice. I would have enjoyed seeing her as Andy’s permanent girlfriend. She was so pretty. I remember Floyd saying she had the face of an angel.
Beautiful
Beautiful lady for sure!! Loved the scene where she outdone Andy at the firing range.
She can skip a rock down at the goose pond ! Earlier episode ? That 62 T bird convertible her farther gave to her was sweet !
Thanks! Learning all that ... ='( she was so laid back beautiful.

Joanna Moore and
Howard Morris
Guess who Howard Morris is

What a beautiful lady she was .
OWN12S...Yeah and Ryan O'neil was an idiot for dumping her.
@marc dewey:
Agreed, but I wouldn't limit his idiocy to just that.
@@marcdewey3848 He brought tragedy to both Farrah and Joanna Moore.
Such a beautiful lady
I looked Joanne min ago I have that exact show on waiting for them to come back on to sing the song.
Love it, been sending that for about 8 years or more.
what a sweet song. forgot how pretty and classy she was...Andy and joanne makes beautiful music together...

Wow!! Thanks -I'm a huge TAGS fan -Glad to have that history.
This my favorite episode and my favorite song of all time. NOBODY can ever sing this song as beautifully as Peggy and Andy did! I absolutely love it.
It was perfection!
Generally you wouldn't want constant vibrato, but with Joanna, it's captivatingly beautiful.

Ronnie was a good musician in his own right. He played the guitar on TAGS as well as Happy Days. I don't understand why they had him stop with the guitar and play a saxophone which he COULDN'T play!
