My wife and I recently joined a small country church and we sing 3 or 4 hymns each Sunday and this song was one of the songs we sung ! What a joy it truly is 🙏💖
Greatest TV show ever. I've seen each episode a million times but never grow tired of them. I'm watching right now as a matter of fact. The one were Goober takes the car apart in the courthouse.
its crazy as a child it was hard for me to watch these types of shows but as i got older i came to appreciate them... when did i first really get into the show as an 18 19 year old
Andy Griffith said in an interview a few years before he died that he and Don Knotts would sing hymns between takes and that D. K. would always "pick up a perfect tenor line".
You can tell when he finishes the first verse, he was miles, and probably years away. Probably recalling his grandmother singing it or something. I love this episode.
My grandparents had a big, rambling house set back off the road and the plowed fields around; and it had a wonderful half rap around porch with wooden rocking chairs- and this scene in Andy Griffith brought back those memories of years gone by...
This song wasn’t long enough, then Mr. Loudy comes running up making all that noise disturbing the tranquility! 😂 Glad they gave us that little bit though! I love this show ❤
That guy got held up by car trouble and Goober couldn’t get the engine smooth. But he realized that his life was moving so quickly that he had forgotten to pray.🙏
I’ve gone back to this video every now and then for years. I’ve always been terrified that you would one day take it down because I have no other way of listening to this. Please never let this video be deleted. This is my favorite part of my childhood ironically
I sing along whenever this episode comes on. Peaceful soothing song. Many people forget Andy Griffith was a Grammy Award winning singer and musician. I believe this song is on one of his albums.
Have you ever seen the one with Joanna Moore they Sing i believe it's called down in the valley the way Joanna and Andy harmonizes unbelievable what a beautiful voice.
@Ralph L Yes I remember that one. And of course Andy Griffith and Eleanor Donahue singing ‘Away In A Manger’ during the Christmas episode is beautifully sung too.
This song reminds me of a little country church i grew up in oh come come come to the church in the wild wood oh come to the church in the vail no place is so dearer to my child hood as the the little brown church in the vale
This is one of the three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show that always brings a tear to my eye. The other two are the first one when Opie doesn't want Aunt Bea to leave because "she can't take care of her self." The last one is when Mr. McBeavy comes down from the tree and Andy realizes that Opie was telling the truth all along.
@ John Freeman Barney’s speech in the episode were the businessman is trying to get revenge on Andy for extraditing him back to Mayberry to stand trial for a ticket is a great one too.
One of mine is the cave rescue when Thelma Lou says “Barney is quite a guy” and Helen says “as a matter of fact they both are”. They were both very proud of their men for very different reasons.
One of my favorite Andy Griffith show episodes is when Andy goes to Sam Beckers house to deliver Sam's wife's baby. Then when Andy and Barney are standing on the porch and Sam comes out the door with the baby fussing he calls for Andy and Sam asks him to hurry sheriff, I can't get Andy to stop crying. He asks him Andy and Sam tells him yeah.
Hello All from hamilton Ontario Canada . Been watching re runs of all the shows. This is from Season 3 and been watching since Pharmacists Ellie in season 1. Somehow this one is so special I stopped and slowed down to enjoy. The intro of Gomer and cousin Goober was just awesome. Plan to have this as my daily tonic. Yes life was of wholesome values back then. Can’t imagine how much Ron Howard must treasure working with such a fine cast. Merry Christmas to All. Dec 20, 2021 Ps. In the show itself does anybody know what car it was that the out of town guest was driving ? Thanks !
What is so sad is when you watch Andy Griffith everyone is so healthy & Living but after it’s over then Realty sets in and it Sucks to know out of the whole cast Opie& Thelma Lou is still living RIP gents & Ladies
My wife and I recently joined a small country church and we sing 3 or 4 hymns each Sunday and this song was one of the songs we sung ! What a joy it truly is 🙏💖
The Andy Griffith Show was the epitome of decency and wholesomeness.
Greatest TV show ever. I've seen each episode a million times but never grow tired of them. I'm watching right now as a matter of fact. The one were Goober takes the car apart in the courthouse.

Did ya notice Barn is harmonizing perfectly. 😀

Yes, his voice appears to come and go on the show, but he sang beautifully here.
He used to sing harmony with his brother
This scene defines the show better than any other. It’s always been my favorite.

It says , never forget where you came from !
I can honestly say this is the greatest moment in television history for me. So incredibly great.
Amen.
Gives me a lump in my throat.
That guy got held up by car trouble and Goober couldn’t get the engine smooth.
But he realized that his life was moving so quickly that he had forgotten to pray.🙏
Plus he had to have loved Aunt Bee's cooking. No pickles though. 😅
And Opie got to sleep on the ironing board between two chairs. He could have tried the couch.

@ John Freeman
Barney’s speech in the episode were the businessman is trying to get revenge on Andy for extraditing him back to Mayberry to stand trial for a ticket is a great one too.
And when Opie wants to buy his girlfriend charlotte a new coat because she doesn’t have one but Andy wants him to donate his money to charity.

Absolutely beautiful ❤️
ah slow easy living of Mayberry
It's about a church in Nashua Iowa that's literally called the "little brown church"
Excellent.
Rest easy Andy, Jesse Donald and Jim😊😢😊.
Everyone just seemed to click in this clip. Gomer was great.
Lovely videoclip from an episode of the Andy Griffith Show !
One of my favorite episodes. We now know Barney can really sing
Great scene from a popular episode. The Statler Brothers do another great version of this song on another youtube video.
Andy should have visited the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA

Was it a Lincoln Continental?
Anyone know the chords to this or what tuning he’s in?

Just Opie now...
@ Lou275
And Leon. Though he was a minor character.
Ohh b quiet... you stupid Karens are always so stupid...
I believe one of the Darling characters (Dillards) boys is still alive
For the love of Mike, just do it! Go home, take a nap, go over to Thelma Lou’s! Just do it!
😂
JOSH
You can imagine the fire bombings and thrown acid if a production attempted this today...
B quite Karen.
