Not many small venues left in Ottawa, Canada. Though a nearby place opened a few years back called THE RED BIRD that is cozy and books bands. They also give lessons and have two open mic nights.
Also touring acts are charging a premium to play since their costs have gone up. Corporate venues will pay them but the independent venues are having a tougher time affording it all on top of their overhead increases.
