This is a part of my new Idaho Manufacturing Spotlight series. Thanks to Guy at Survive! Knives for giving us this inside look. Check out surviveknives.com
Due to the fear of a new company that seemed it may not make it, I nearly cancelled my two outstanding orders after several years waiting. Then I saw Guy had his company logo tattooed on his right arm. Credit to a man who puts his reputation on the line like that. First knife arrived a couple of weeks ago... worth the wait.
All these vids while I wait for my GSO-12 just makes me feel that much more engaged with the company, its people, their workmanship and ultimately pride in the product.
Thanks for the inside look! Guy has really earned what he has in the process and work flow, the results speak for themselves. Also appears he's created a work culture there that will sustain quality. Well done sir! Few people can accomplish such a dream.
That was Very Cool! The extreme attention to detail and the incredible amount of quality control and technology involved in making these knives is Impressive! Thank you for this video!🇺🇸👍🔪
Hi Knifemakers! Really impressive to see how the process is. Thank you a lot for take a tour in their shop. I´m a machinist too with a small company. One man Job shop. So for me, it is always something to learn new when i see this kind of videos. Have a great Day.
We are very interested to learn this about a state we like, nice to see these makers that do what you do making knives. Great series is here and so will we. ENJOYED and always learning. We love blanchard ground finishes and that machine he has looks GREAT and his knives reflect that quality well. Lance & Patrick.
The “bevel grinding” that’s done in the Haas VF3, are they using an abrasive grinding wheel in that machine, or a milling tool? Grinding in a vertical machining center isn’t uncommon, but it’s pretty hard on the machine unless it’s designed for it.
How are all these machine shops making knives? I have never carried one, I do not understand the popularity to be able to have multiple companies only make these. )I own a machine shop)
Damn this Starbucks employee knows a lot about knife making! A wonderful shop!
when is guy going to finish the coffee 😀
Love what guy is doing over there! I have two gso's.

Incredible. The craftsmanship is up there with Gough Customs. Though these have a better steel to them.
Great video.
Seeing is believing. Prices seem much more reasonable knowing the time and expense involved in the setup, execution and finishing of their knives. 👍
You can tell they really got it down to a science now. Just a few extras. That's really got to help with cost and waste materials.
I love watching all the machine videos that Guy & Survive! Put out. Insane machines for sure.
Thanks for the tour. Been a fan and customer of his for a long while. Those GSO 12's are a beast! Can't wait to get mine.
Love your videos. Next week I will get Confidante.
Very nice tour, knives look sharp! (pun intended) Ciao, Marco.
