    Hi TJ. I recently discovered your podcast and have been binge listening. It is very inspiring. I’m preparing for a relaunch in January. I’m working out of a walled off half of a two car garage (180sqft). Have you made many changes to your shop since this video was made?

    Why would you use a endmill to face a workpiece? Even a 1" shell mill would do the job in 1/4 the time but would go with a 3" would get it done in about 3 passes.

    I am going to get one as soon as I go back to work. Question though. I know you do the green sara coat. Could you Acid etch it and then sara coat it then stone wash it. It makes the sickest looking finish. I call it Apoc Green.

    Great Video! I’ve made custom vacuum fixtures, and looking at the process may help the front of the knife tool paths. Vacuum pumps are extremely loud though.

    Love love the knife ordering one this Friday. Like the fact that so much time was spent on the sheath most companies it's basically ally an after thought. Also glad it's a2 steel. One of my favorites holds an edge and easy to sharpen in field. To many of the newer super steels almost impossible to sharpen in field Great vid and be safe!

    With the big open area beneath the parts being machined, how is it holding up with tolerances and probably more importantly in this case with tooling chatter and surface finish?

    TJ, i appreciate your attention to detail! Am also a big A2 fan-air quench with that molybdenum, tough, easily sharpened, cost-effective…like a wise man’s 3V on a bigger blade. (Yes, i know 3V has better wear resistance but sharpening is easy and ‘geometry, geometry, geometry’ lol)

    One of the things I found with laser cutting is the actual type of laser makes a big difference. For instance, a 3000 W CO2 laser will have a pretty substantial heat affected area, but an 8000 W fiber laser has very little heat affected area. Fiber cuts steel so much better than CO2, and when you get to those high wattages, it just vaporizes the steel before it even has a chance to get very hot. why not just Skip machining the edge at all and use both clamps, when you sharpen it that kerf will go away anyway.

    For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

    As a starter milling machine would recommend getting a syilx7 or tormach 1100, since you have experience with both?

    • @tj.schwarz
      @tj.schwarz 2 месяца назад

      The X7 is far beyond the 1100 in terms of accuracy, speed, power, rigidity etc. The Tormach control is easier for beginners though. I would recommend going for a very inexpensive Tormach (perhaps used, less than $15k tops) or go straight to the X7. I just don't think the 1100MX really makes sense since the X7 came online.
