- This is a very well used makita Impact wrench that is running fine, but not rotating the anvil.
problem was a sheared of gear on the end of the rotor.

Do you put the vendor specified grease back in or do you use a specific grease you like. I know Milwaukee is very specific with their alphabet greases
NLGI 2 grease for all drills, impacts, wrenches. For grinders better to use NLGI 0
Hi there, great video. Just wondering if you advise me please about the correct use of my 1001 - tried to undo some approx m24 fine thread wheel nuts on my 16 ton low loader trailer and some it wouldn't budge. They were seized with rust and old and who knows when or what was used to torque them up etc before my ownership. Question is , if you come across something it clearly won't undo , how long should you keep the trigger pressed before burning the gun out or damaging the clutch etc????? i did bursts of approx 3 - 5 seconds and still nothing. Then interestingly i gave up and went back a few hours later and did again and it broke loose!! For reference we tried a with 4ft scaffold bar slid onto a 2ft breaker bar on the same nuts on the wheel and took my weight of 100kg and still didn't budge so was amazed when the makita did it but i gave it just probably 7 seconds this time..... I don't want to hurt the tool so would love to know your guys advice . Thanks, James from Leicestershire.
The big metal part inside is a hammer mechanism which is spring loaded, so there is no friction clutch. Therefore you can hold the trigger for a long time without any problems. I have the same machine and wouldn't feel concerned to hold the trigger for a minute or 2. (if you need any longer the nuts are stuck on and need other measures, not because the machine couldn't handle it)
where do you buy your replacement parts from, I'm after the rotor for my dtw1002 also and the 3 gears thanks
Hi! I bought a Makita DTW700 new/lightly used. There is a smell of burned brushed motor coming off it when using. But the motor is brushless so i think it shouldnt smell anything. Is it normal you think? It seems to work fine and looks good. I didnt take it apart yet.
Not good, it shouldnt be burning at all. more than likely the field has a burnt coil inside. if you take the back cover of and pull out the rotor you may be able to see the field windings, look for a black one.
@@deandohertygreaser Sounds likely yes. I took the back off, but cant really see all the windings. Some plastic covering it up. I might take it off later and look with the flir camera at the same time. Maybe the bearing wont like being unsupported. Maybe better to take it apart more and look closer on the windings.
@@tydlig if its still running it may be a bad bearing and might be able to be saved.
@@deandohertygreaser also a good possibility. Maybe previous owner found the bearing faulty and oiled it. And that’s what smelling. And instead of solving they just sold it off. But I can’t find any traces of oil residue in wrong places.

Is it normal for this impact wrench to have a knocking sound when you shake it back and and forth when not running? Seems like there is something lose around the hammer.
yes, the hammer and anvil are not tight agenst each other, there is some room for them to move.
Ve same gun but no power at all not even a light come on any idea

These are fairly crap right out of the box tbh.,. the Dewalt version is a lot better. These rattle away when working, but nothing much moves. I have 2 - I know. The Dewalt version pees on them. I'd chuck this in the bin - best place for it. Makita make some great tools - this ain't one. Might be ideal if you have kids & forgot their birthday - kids like toys, you could give them this to play with.
