I climbed the pillar in 1981, also via Eccles. Looks like nothing has changed, only the equipment of the climbers. Great video to remember the times when I was young.
Great video, thanks! Did it in 1981, spent the night before at Col de Peuterey, had to wait out a lightning storm after the abseil from the top of the pillar, reached the top of Montblanc at midnight in a howling snowstorm and found shelter in the Vallot hut. Great adventure in wild surroundings, encountered not a single soul till Vallot. The full package!
What a stunning video. With great music which makes the images even more powerful. Lucky you for having climbed there. Thanks for sharing (Joëlle from France).
Dear Tomasz, Good to see that you are interested in comments. We stayed at the hut during the first night and passed Eccles, then abseiling and traversing, and started climbing the pillar . We bivaced anywhere on the pillar and reached the Chandelle on late morning the next day. I was leading and my group where 5. It took me long time to make the first pitch (crack and traverse to the right) on the Chandelle. I do well remember the hanging stand after that pitch. In the following crack/chimney was lot of ice. It ended all very well. About 5 years later we intended to do a first ascent on the right edge of the Harlin Pillar, but we could not make the traverse as there was a lot of rock fall below the Col and elsewhere. So we ended up climbing the Innominata with a backpack of 25 kg, each. We soloed it. I remember there was a long section in a crack/chimney, which needed my full attention. It is good to see that this part of the Mont Blanc is nowadays still regarded as difficult.
Hello IIona, Arne, Maciek and Tomek I congratulate you on climbing the Freney pillar. Thank you for the wonderful film. I wish you good tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
Ma come è possibile durante un video come questo mettere in sottofondo (si fa per dire sotto) una musica cosi orribile e snervante? Lo trovo incredibile.

Tomasz, what a great video. What a great team. Every man and woman who makes Freney in one day deserves a huge respect. Well done.

Versante sud del monte bianco il più bello.
Il versante italiano del monte bianco il più bello selvaggio e quello con le cime più alte.
No, jest potencjał :). Daje sub'a i czekam na kolejne filmy. W Azji chyba kolorowo, masz jakiś materiał?
Właśnie z Azji bez szału, będę miał jeden film złożony z krótkich ujęć telefonem, ale stamtąd głównie foty

bo ce anche di peggio
The music is way too loud and aggressive...
It was a mistake to use this song, I've heard it so many times already :)
