    NOTES: 4 piston Brembo brakes are not on X, Blizz or ADR models. ALSO: It looks like ALL 2 strokes will now have post forward(this is new) while ALL 4s will have post rearward(no change here) For me this is something I take note of as I LOVE post forward & have a long video of changing my Mach Z to post forward, best setup for tight trail aggressive riding IMO.

      Right on! That is an awesome looking sled for this season. I came very close to going that route myself with the smart shox issue i had. But in the end the price of these things is just crazy so i decided to hold on to the Mach Z. I have heard the '24 has a fan inside to help with under-hood heat, and should likely run a bit stronger too. I'm sure you will love it! Cheers!

      I hear ya.....I will likely keep mine another season too. I have been following the tune/ECU game closely as I loved my Winder with Hurricane Dave tune. For now the ECU game is fairly pricey and not sure I like idea of cracking open my ECU with PEFI's tune. I would love to see Olivier at Boost Engineering come through with a tune, however i think this new ECU is far too highly encrypted. For now, with my clutching I sorta like running it stock since it does work so well....and knowing its very safe i never have to worry about holding it WOT lake after lake even if fuel may be questionable. Keep me posted brother!

    I said Id never go back to a 2 smoke, but now that the 600r is in the G5 im thinking heavily on pulling the trigger. Keep my 4 stroke for big trips, but around our parts near home its windy and bumpy 80% of the time. As I get older I believe I would enjoy a lighter more flickable sled in the rough stuff. Who's takin bets Dan will be on a new doo for next season ;o)

      What I'm disappointed with in Ski Doo is they are neglecting the 600 riders and trying to force everyone into paying more for an 850. My wife doesn't want an 850 and doesn't want weight of 4 stroke. And honestly I'd be quite fine on a 600, especially if they made it a 650 and had it run on 87 octane like Poo.

    Nice review Dan. Snow checking a Renegade 900r today. The black in the online builder looks great because it looks matte but I confirmed it's gloss black so I went with silver. Trying to confirm if launch control is exclusive to 10.25" display because it's vague in the Skidoo presentation.

    • @rockerdan
      @rockerdan  Год назад +1

      I have heard LC typically comes with the 10.25 gauge, but not 100% sure myself. With the issues I have been having recently with my Smart Shox I may be ordering a new G5 900r myself. I will miss the Mach, I like the color better than gloss black which i hate cause it gets scratches so easily and buffeting marks from a cover so will need to use under-cover when trucking sled. With base XRS shocks I will be saving some cash at least. But I will miss the SS as they work awesome(when they are not broke) Cheers!

    • @northwash
      @northwash Год назад +1

      @@rockerdan Thanks for the response. Yah sounds like LC is only for the 10.25. Oh well. It's a shame about your SS issues but was the reason I went with the base XRS shocks. Just wasn't convinced the SS were going to be reliable longterm. Just a real shame the Rene 900r doesn't get 40s with rebound all round like the MXZ XRS 850.

    • @rockerdan
      @rockerdan  Год назад +1

      @@northwash Agree brother. Pro40s at all 4 locations with Rebound should be standard for all XRS. But I guess BRP feels the gade crowd is cruiser/up north super highway trail riders who dont ride bumps much. Also why they dont come with post forward. Bugs me cause I will have to do my own post forward mod again now next fall. At least the rears are Pro40s and I think it does work well. No worries of smart shox breaking either! Would love a matt black color though(Not a fan of glossy) Cheers.

    Hey Dan. From Bracebridge here brother. What's your thoughts on the sidewinder vs the new mach you have ? Pros and cons ?

    • @rockerdan
      @rockerdan  Год назад +1

      Local brother, hello! I have many on that subject and have voiced them many times when I first got the Mach. I did have a 2020 850 mxz in between my 18 Winder and the 22 Mach. Too much to go into in depth, but the key point I found is bone stock the Winder was not fast NOR quick whatsoever. It was annoyingly sluggish corner to corner where i ride primarily. So getting a tune from Dave was a MUST. And once tuned man o man i LOVED that sled! It was a blast corner to corner and top speeds were off the charts by far fastest sled I ever owned. Big issue was reliability of that Cat chassie. Just go down a few season into my youtube channel and see all the vids of me tearing it apart fixing everything in drive train. Once I re-designed all of Cat's poor engineering, it became reliable. The ride was never that good especially in rough stuff, very heavy sled to pound through moguls....The Mach is total opposite really. Very reliable, super snappy corner to corner out of the box, the ride with smart shocks is like a Caddy. And it can also be pounded harder then any previous 4s I've owned without breaking your back. It also feels quite light for any 4s. Machs downfalls IMO are the poor clutching out of the box(in '22) which i got figured out now, and the inherent chassie and skid design that simply will not allow big top speeds. Winder is a top speed junkie and makes MPH easily, total opposite on the Doo. But the ride is so so good, its an easy trade off for me who rides alot of rough tight stuff often. Up north on the big super highway trails they both are awesome, suspension really is not a concern up there. Lots more to this but those are the big differences. Maybe Cat/Yam will bring out a new chassie for their 4s since its quite an old design, or at least some new gauge tech which would go a long way. Cheers!

    Good video, Dan! Pretty much my take and sentiments. I do think they should have went the intercooler route on the 850 E-TEC Turbo R instead of the water/methanol deal; I think this could be a nightmare for dealers as people put the wrong fluid in the wrong spot or try some homemade concoction. I have a G4 X-RS 900 ACE Turbo and will probably order a 2024 REV Gen5 equivalent mostly because of the miles I put on. I like the current ride height of my X-RS and am not in love with the fact they did not put Pro 40s all around on the REV Gen5 X-RS 900 ACE Turbo R. I wish I could order the shocks and reinforcements of the Competition Package (from the factory), but that is just me.

    • @rockerdan
      @rockerdan  Год назад +1

      Yes you bring up a great point and I totally get what you're saying. My only thoughts on the IC are that all these stock IC's be it the Winder or Mach now, are far too small. AIT's climb too high very quickly on them in stock form and that is why longer hauls we are getting RPMs falling off. ECU is certainly seeing those high AIT's and pulling timing ect. So I'm thinking the water/meth injection may be a better solution on a sled where size and weight are so important and trying to stuff a proper large sized IC is just too difficult. I know lots of guys used to run meth injection in the early apex/nytro turbo days and worked well. So this will be interesting to watch next season for sure!
      Yeah so the shocks have been getting whittled down the past few years, even more so on Gades. I think it was a wise move for BRP to simplify things putting all 4s into the gade more cruiser friendly and 2s into MXZ and just adding the 137 MXZ option. For me this is not that huge a deal cause I feel the 4s just plain works so well with Smart Shocks, i would highly recommend that way to go always. While on the 2s(Mxz) the SS system simply is not needed. Buds 129 mxz G5 this season with Pro40R EA shocks is simply incredible! I do miss the quick changes of the SS when trails change quickly but those 2s are so flickable and light, I just would save the cash on the SS and keep the XRS standard shocks on those MXZ's. Cheers!

      Hi Alain....I agree BRP has taken some Polaris Matryx cues and narrowed up the plastics. I think their are still some big differences in the POO and DOO these days. Biggest thing is the Etec power plant. I think the Etec technology is still ahead in terms of plug fouling and smoke. In terms of ride the Doos are a flatter more controlled ride vs the more active playful ride of the Poo. Both are great in their own ways. I wish Doo had more transfer since '21 when they went to RmoX they have taken away much of that. Poo wins hands down in the Gauge territory! BRP needs to simply add a GPS antenna to their 10.25 gauge and they will be in the driver's seat in gauge tech. I am just waiting for Poo to bring out a turbo 4s to compete in the 180hp category and then things will get interesting for 4s guys. Still both of these brands are at the top of their game.
