These snowmobiles are such incredible hot rods! To me they're akin to exotic sports cars and fighter jets. While these sleds are not cheap, compared to many alternatives, ownership is quite achievable.
I have had many Mxz Xrs 600r's with 129 track, all of them were dead reliable and great fun in twisty trails. All of them had rack steering too, not just G5. Gotta say though, I switched to Renegade Xrs 900r Turbo last time and will not be going back to 2 stroke (although I miss the Braaap sometimes! LOL) The Renny is just that good!!
@@longboardguy After riding My buddies Winder, I was worried about weight, but first ride in and that worry was gone. The Renny carries the weight amazingly well and is very balanced. All of my 2 stroke friends have ridden it and all were impressed. I'd say the Xrs is a nust have though, not sure how it would be with cheaper shocks.
I just dug out an old Supertrax mag. The one where you guys raced a Yamaha Viper on pavement against a Dodge Viper. No, not the 4-stroke for you young folk - the Yamaha Viper with the 2 stroke triple…. Man those were the days!!! Supertrax is the only magazine I haven’t thrown out over the years - and I have copies from the mid ‘90’s…. Kent and Mark always had great opinions! love the content guys. I can’t tell you how much Snowtrax / Dirtrax means to me…. You guys are all fantastic and I sincerely think you’re the best in the entire industry! Here’s to the 2023-2024 season! 🍻🍻🍻
I remember that! Can still see the cover! That was a fun issue. Thanks for your support and for your kind words. I'll make sure Kent and Mark see this comment. 👊💥💫
Honestly i think it is a very good sled and having tested 850 and 900 turbo r….600 is more than enough. Yes the bigger power is fun an acceleration are just crazy but to have fun at a more reasonable price 600 are the ticket. On xrs the smart shocks should be available. Your comments on the switch are very accurate i had a hard time finding or adjusting when i rode it but like you said the owner after a while get use to it. I cannot comment on other brand but it was very impressed by the quality and fit and finish on those Ski doo. I test their r&d machine twice a year and come out always very surprised by how easy to ride and fast their machine are. Can you get an xrs with a 129 ? Never tried a 129 i always get a 137; what would be the riding difference? I am very curious to try the 900 turbo r in the g5 this winter, I like 2 strokes but the turbo engine impressed me greatly for a trail machine. I am spoiled when i ride because i get the latest and greatest fitted with everything but if i was to buy one i would choose a basic 600… and try to find a way to put smart shocks on it …. That suspension is just so good and easy to live with. Great walk around, very accurate information. Have a great season guys.
G5 controls are a step backward. Thanks for highlighting that. 600 with the short track is the only way to go. Wish the 4 strokes could be had in 129...
Do you mean styling and colors (possibly engine displacement)? Because I don't think any manufacturer is going away from the rider forward chassis for a couch style sled.
Love Ski-Doo!!!!! Fit and finish tops in the industry now that Yamaha is leaving. Also ETEC engines that are dead reliable, powerful, fuel efficient, and still exclusive to Ski-Doo......don't know why Polaris and Arctic Cat don't go with direct injection as they have introduced many new engines since ETEC came out in 2009 I believe.
nicely engineered sleds (Ski-doo) but I would argue they could be much more durable, dependable and easier to maintain. Maybe these newest versions have improved.
The g4 looked way better I think, seems like ski doo upgrade some stuff that doesn't need to be and remove the stuff that works sometimes like the buttons on the handle bar
G4 and G5 are painful to look at. G5 looks like alien eyed headlamps while the front bumper appears to be the mouth of a Suckerfish. No cohesiveness and I'm a huge Ski-doo fan, not a hater. The Polaris Matryx looks phenomenal, especially those jewel L.e.d. headlamps, design front to back, incredible 7s display, etc.
Both polaris and g4 & g5 look sick to me. First time i saw the g5 i HATED IT. Im a 2023 g5 blizzard owner and ive grown to love it. And also love the g5 mountain sleds too.
What's pissing me off the most about the snowmobile industry for the last let's just say probably 10 to 15 years they just keep catering to the I want I want crowd And they're alienating the hundreds of thousands of more buyers they could have if they would just come out with a goddamn sled that's a simple strip down version of itself decent suspension heated grips a decent windshield and the price that people can afford to go out and run the damn things.
I get what you're saying, but unfortunately there aren't hundreds of thousands of buyers who want this concept. Those buyers are shopping for a used sled that they could probably get for cheaper than a stripped down new sled. Polaris tried this concept years back with the SHIFT and it just didn't sell as well as they'd hoped so they reverted to offering all-in packages and their marketshare soared. What sells best unfortunately is the fully jammed models and most of these guys are willing to pay either alongside a trade-in or through financing. I wish it was different, but it isn't...

600R probably the most reliable 2 stroke hands down been out since 2018 👍🏻 prefer 129 but what a great sled
Agreed 100%,
Idk. The ctec is bombproof. Talked to a cat dealer that said do not touch one till 10,000 miles. He’s seen some with 14,000

First mods I made to my 22 XRS was swap to B2 stinger LED’s and ditch the adjustable riser for a 2” taller one.
Awesome Job Mark! You and your boys always do a great job at what you do! Thank you!!!
Please do a full comparo with this unit and the AC Catalyst RXC. That would be a wonderful thing.
Have you sat on the catalyst yet? It's a tiny little snowmobile
The power to weight ratio is just insane. Wish I could afford one.

Only in name and colors maybe…. Gone are the days of sit down 2-stroke triples for example…. Sadly. I’d love a crack a new one!!!
I have the stupidest question that is awesome. I’m just wondering why is there no cross bar pad any longer is that not needed? 😎

Stay tuned!!

Renegades are all designated as 4-strokes now. MXZ is the 2-stroke line and available in 129 and 137.
