A great game. Well played both, and it comes down to one missed smash at the end. I have a feeling this is the next big rivalry in the women’s game. A more big winners, less rally version of Ding vs LSW. It’s addictive, and incredibly tense to watch.
In fact she’s already lost twice to her. The last time was less than two months ago. But I think you know that. If Sun was consistently beating her 4-0, then you could crow. Just admit they’re both brilliant.
Some of these Chinese fans just wouldn't recognize other talents from other countries. I've been a fan of the Chinese team since 2006 and I'm glad we see Finals matches that are not China vs China.
Tough luck for Ito's first match point. Sun's block was high but it hit the baseline so Ito couldn't really do anything than try to absorb the spin.
Sun's forehand is a lot stronger compared to the last generation. Same with Ito's style of flat shots. It's a lot more interesting to watch compared to just watching last generation's endless backhand exchanges.

The underlying victory for Mima Ito is that she is the first player for many years to consistently beat and challenge all the top Chinese players, male or female, I might be wrong but don't think any men or women in the last 10 years that have as many victory's against top Chinese players as her, even Timo probably only has 5-6 victories against them in the last decade

I am watching this game in 2022, still so fantastic...
Ito's trump card is her pimples (BH) but inverted rubber players usually play (i.e. Right handed) to BH of their opponents so it's very easy for Ito, who's well trained. to counter. SYS is very flexible and quick thinking so she can exploit Ito's FH which is actually the weak part of her game and stay on top. Pimples are very tricky. Punch block produces lightning speed flat return but casual block produces back spin so very hard for the opponent to adjust in matter of seconds. Notice Ito wins a lot of on her BH. However, every style has loopholes. Just a matter of probing it and finding tactics to counter. Top players start training in kindergarden, not a big problem.
Sun Yingsha's mental game is monstrous.
These two are much better than the rest...Ding Ning is too slow compared with these two.

Ito's style lacks of consistency due to short pips nature. it is aggressive, but if she cannot win a game before round 6, (i.e. 4-2), then she would be in trouble. it requires too much effort to stay at the same attentive level in the 7th round to achieve the same accuracy in fast attacking.
