Wow. Okay, so, this is the first video of gameplay for NASCAR Heat Evolution I've watched, and oh my God, my best friend was not kidding. It is NASCAR Heat from 2000. I mean it is EXACTLY the same. The engine sound effect and tire squeal sound effects are exactly the same, the stiff pretty much unwreckable opponents is exactly the same, the snappy linear steering is exactly the same, the physics are the same, like the way the wheels lock up and the car jumps sideways when you hit the brakes, is EXACTLY the same! They literally took a game from 16 years ago, reskinned it, and ported it to the PS4 and XBox 1! WTF?
Now, admittedly, I spent many, many happy hours over the years playing the original NASCAR Heat on the computer and it is still one of my favorite NASCAR games for exactly the reason you said: it feels more like an arcade game than a simulator. I rocked at that game (especially at Watkins Glen! (after much practice)) But I mean, COME ON! They couldn't even be bothered to update the sound effects?! This game has the exact same sound effects that its predecessor had 16 years ago! I mean if they wanted to use that game as a baseline for this one, that would have been great. For one thing that game had perfect AI. I mean PERFECT. I think we probably all remember the absolutely horrible AI in "Inside Line" where every car on the track would run exactly the same line and not even try the tiniest bit to pass each other. But they couldn't have been bothered to work on updating the physics or sound effects even a little??
I've played just about every NASCAR game at some point or another, and I agree with you, NASCAR '07 was one of my favorites, too. I still play that one. Pretty much all the ones that were on the PS3 sucked in my opinion. NASCAR '15 was almost unplayable. So, considering how much enjoyment the original NASCAR Heat gave me over the years, I would probably enjoy this game...if I had a PS4, which I don't. But, like you said, it is NOT worth $60. Not even close.

You had the game set to normal. In this game, normal=arcade. If you set it to simulation, you'll get an entirely different racing experience. My favorite NASCAR games were NASCAR thunder 2003 & 2004. I loved the team building/development aspects of those games.

the guy playing Edwards when he was going backwards and he was see through that's because heat evolution patched that so when ever that happens in online lobbies, then the player that does that sort of thing will be kicked.
