I believe I know your issue, which I'm guessing you've figured out by now. You have the newer style brake shaft which requires the installation of the three spring (belleville) washers included with the new brake repair kit from Warn. They are installed between the spring clip and outer brake disc and would push the discs closer together.
@@tubewaldo The spring washers are 0.020 inch thick, and there are three in the kit; and according to the instructions all three are installed and they have to be convex side out. Hope this helps. Ron
Hey I just rebuilt my 8274. Now, I'm probably talking out of my ass but where did you get those pads? Those brake pads look thicker than what I remember when I put mine in (could have just been because they were dirtier and less noticeable in general). I wonder if that can cause spacing issues? For what it's worth, my buddy and I both have 8274s and we both have about that much wiggle in the ratchet part of the brake and it holds our bearings fine.
Good day, I'm about to rebuild the brake on my old 8274 (brake with the pucks and ratchet with corresponding holes) and noticed that the warn parts list says to use the new style ratchet when rebuilding with the brake service kit. I see you have a combination of old ratchet with new friction material; could this cause the looseness you are experiencing?
HelloDid you find out what the issue was? Have kind of same issue on my 8274. Would be nice if you shared the solution😊 thanks!

How thick is this Shim between snap-ring & brake disc? Thank you
