People whom aesthetically modify their GT-T’s to look like GT-R’s should just replace the GT-R badge with a Nismo badge ( if they are truly Nismo tuned), or remove the badge/s altogether. Then If someone says “that’s not a real GT-R”, the owner can say, “I never said it was.” It’s a GT-T with a GT-R conversion; hopefully a full one, for more respect considering the work done. Like Craig said, it’s better to not even bother doing all that work and just be authentic and and enjoy a GT- T or 330i for what it is.
As somebody who did the swap from gtt to gtr (but kept the rb25), you are 100% right. I rock a custom made GTT Grill Emblem and looks perfect. Looks like GTR but is and will always be a GTT. And side note, I didn’t pay that much for the build, with oem parts except rear quarters who are in FRP. Did the work myself, paint etc, body parts were like 3-4k
This is no different than putting SS badges on a regular ass Chevelle, or M3 badge on a regular 3 series. People have been doing this shit since at least the 1960's. Skylines aren't special. The thing with Skylines is a lot of people don't even know the lesser models exist. They don't know Skylines come in 4 cylinder, 4 door taxi specs.
@@xbrandon502x There is going to be vin fuckery, 100% and even people who know about the GT-R registry, who are afraid the car sells to someone else if they wait is going to get burned. I don't mind when someone adds upgraded body mods to look like the higher trim, but a very different thing is to go around claiming it is indeed a higher trim lol. Kinda like an SXT claiming to be a hellcat, which i am starting to see more and more lately lol
The rwd skylines should be embraced, because they still have all the potential of the skyline platform. The rwd cars have their advantages through weight and simplicity, while still having the skylines aftermarket of the GTR’s.
People have been rebadging cars for decades. SS badges on non-SS Camaros and Chevelles. Shelby badges on non-Shelby Mustangs etc. And not to mention all of the "tribute" cars that get rebuilt as higher end models.
I owned a '94 R33 GTS25t from ' 99 to '06 and I could not be more proud that I had a mechanically simpler, rear wheel drive, no ABS, no TCS, no Stability Control, 5 speed manual, pure driver's car that required me to be more responsible for the car's performance. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to confuse it for a GTR. GTRs are amazing but the car does a lot of the heavy lifting with the driving. The GTS25t, GTT and GTS-t all are fantastic cars that should get plenty of recognition in their own right.
I'm probably in the minority but I'd much rather have an ER34 GT-t 4 door than a GT-R. The GT-R is legendary and all that. But I want turbo whistle with the practicality of a sedan.
Thanks for making this. As a GTR owner, I'm glad someone actually said it. Skylines are the only car that up badging is "OK" to the greater public. It's "OK" to lie about what you have and misrepresent yourself to unknowing people. Yet, if you upbadge an Evo, Mustang, Mercedes, BMW, etc, etc, everyone will call you out on it. Yet if it's a skyline, you get cheered on for it. GTTs are absolutely cool cars, especially when they're built like modified GTTs. There are GTT specific body kits, GTT specific engine mods, and things you can do with them that you can't with a GTR. When every GTT looks like a GTR, they're all the same. And, boring... The GTR chassis itself is actually different than a GTT in a number of areas. Example: The transmission tunnel in a GTR is wider to accommodate the transfer case. If you put ATESSA in a GTT chassis you'd have to cut a hole in it. Again - no one is going through this kind of labor for a "conversion", and even then it will still never be a GTR.
Man 99,9% of GTT owners just slap the body kit (Z-tune) and call it a GT-R Maybe few people done the complete conversion and if they have that GT-R badge...it is kinda ok but how many on earth is that?
@Mr Oversteer also add those F&F idiots who thinks all GTRs are Skylines and all Skylines are GTRs. Heck, I even met this peep who thinks RX7s are all Veilside. He got roasted hard.

I dont know why you'd pose and claim its a real GTR, when all the work and sweat you put into converting a GTT into a GTR is consiterably more impressive than just buying and owning a GTR.
The Gtt and GTR are both amazing cars, but People who are willing to pay 200k+ for a 90’s Nissan are smoking crack and are being laughed at, they are good but not worth that money.
It's such a shame the modern gtr doesn't have that wow factor. Nissan design team needs to be more like Porsche with the 911. The r35 never grue on me. Can't wait for a new skyline design, something that looks like an r30 and r32
I don’t know a lot of people spending that much money unless it’s a rare special edition or a fully built GTR. Most R32-R33 GTRs go for $50,000-$60,000.
for sure. I'm turned off of pretty much the whole catagory. Like even the real cheap 90's JDM performance cars or even just performance adjacent are overpriced. some of these cars really aren't all that great to begin with, and now they're 30+ years old and ratty and people want $20k for their 240. bruh. I'll buy some cheap mustang gt for $5k and probably have more fun.
This is a problem throughout the whole automotive scene. V6 cars with “SS” or “srt” base bmw and Mercedes’ with the M badge and AMG, even for put a mustang badge on a EV rolling turd.
Look man I’m all for the sentiment but the age of the combustion engine is over. We are living in the pinnacle of CE technology in terms of performance, reliability, and economy. V6s are going away too. We will only have turbo 4s for a while then that’s it, the world changes. Embrace it old man.

I'm not sure why people are bagging Craig out so hard for this video. He is 100% right. When I first got my GTT the first thing anyone ever said was "WHEN ARE YOU PUTTING A GTR KIT ON IT!!!!!" He is 100% correct in everything he said, if you have a GTT, embrace it, it's a great car, it's RWD and can handle crazy power on an unopened motor. Craig, you are one of the realest car guys I've ever come across.
Most people that modify their GTT to have a GTR look do it because it simply looks good. The vast majority of GTT owners are proud to own a GTT and don't try and fool people to have a GTR.
I’d totally get a GTT and change some stuff to where it closely resembles a GTR but I would not slap any GTR badges on it. The GTT is the closest thing most of us will have to an actual R34 GTR.
I put the GT-R spoiler and MFD on my GTT and it bugs me every time I turn on the ignition and it says GT-R. I am completely satisfied with my GTT and have enough fun with the rear-wheel drive. 😅
Shout out to those people who embrace they GTT and the v6 mustang, Camaro ect. It's must be amazing and great achievement to own those vehicles. Funny enough the same energy is not shown to C43 AMG owners. And c300 owners. Wonder why
What people don't realize about rear quarter panels is that they have to be metal or carbon fiber ( and one piece), as the structural rigidity of the rear of the car depends on the rear quarter panel due to its unibody design. I think a roll cage may help with this, but even with that and in trunk structural support the car would be dangerously structurally unsound and will cause issues. Same with the bmw e30
There is no shame in having a GTT. Some people out there don’t even have a vehicle and have to catch the bus everyday. Be Grateful, and God Bless You 🙏
I completely agree, as someone on Barrett Jackson said: "A rising tide lifts all ships!" I have enormous respect for the builders who build a perfect GTR tribute/clone and are upfront and honest about it! Personally, I would buy a GTT, I like the simplicity and lower weight of rwd and simplicity of a single turbo, I agree with Craig, I'd build up a GTT, maybe go n/a with itbs or small turbo/no intercooler/straight pipes. Respect/enjoy it for what it is.
I totally understand the need to fill that void of owning a GTR by whatever means. However, with a budget like that, you can do a really cool GTT build and not look like a poser or a GTR wannabe. My idea from the top of my head: - nice Rb25, stroked to a 2.8l, big single turbo, Plazmaman intake manifold, front mount intercooler -Invest in a PPG/Samsonas/Hollinger or whatever sequential transmission as opposed to the Getrag 6 speed - fat wheels & tyres, pumped rear guards, Z tune front guards, top secret bonnet. - Get a Haltech/motec ecu with adapter harness - Motec dash with a Motec --> R34 mfd casing and have it plug straight into your ECU which works 1000x better than a 90s MFD I am an R34 GTR owner who was extremly lucky and feels blessed to have bought one when they were worthless, id respect anyone's GTT build 100 times over compared to someone who is trying to be a GTR. GTRs can get boring especially since everyone has the same build, but, seeing a fully hectic GTT would be amazing.
110 000 dollars for a 25 year old GTT... I mean what world do we live in now ? These people could get an awesome C7 Z06 or a R35 for that kind of money, but no they decide to drop 110k on a fake gtr. My mind cannot comprehend that kind of behavior.
People pay near a cool million for a ferrari gt4 cam so you would be surprised, a nice car is a nice car, but an iconic car will always be an iconic car.
It’s pretty standard for people to build replica cars. Especially when the original car is worth quarter million plus and you could build a higher performing car for a fraction of the price. It’s also pretty standard for original owners to get annoyed by it. Both people…. get over it, one of you has money the other doesn’t, both of you like the same car, same person, different life choices .
@@nohaistavittusit494 yeh but that sounds like more of a scam than idealising a GTR. A simple Vin check, local vehicle inspection to the country and match between Chassis number/Vin Plate would show that its not real. Forging those is not really the topic of discussion, that's just plain illegal.

I'd love to have an ER34 Sedan. I don't see too much love for the 4 doors. I was at the Fujiwara Tofu Cafe in El Monte a few weeks ago and some dude rolled up in an R34 Sedan. It was sexy.
I have an HR34 I got for $10K out here in the Middle East and loving it man. And every real car enthusiast respects the 4 door every bit as much as the 2 door. You're not beholden to the stigma of a GTR, you can take it and make it your own creation and enjoy it every bit as much.
I respect someone who goes to all the work to make a perfect gtr replica more than a wealthy guy who straight up buys a gtr without doing anything but opening their cheque book
I personally don't have an issue with people building GT-R replicas (If done properly by using genuine panels such as quarter panels, bonnet etc) and, horror of all horrors I don't particularly mind them having the GT-R badge (again, if done properly). To me at least, it becomes a problem when that person goes around telling people it's a real GT-R. I'd have much more respect for the person grounded enough to be truthful about it, whilst showing the work done to make it what it has become. I find it sad that the ER34 GT-T has always been treated as a base for a GT-R replica, because they are still a great car in their own right. Also what many fail to realise, is the ER34 GT-T has a different floor pan to the BNR34 GT-R as it is RWD not AWD. The 2dr ENR34 GT-Four on the other hand, has the same floor pan with the GT-R as it is also AWD, meaning it easier to create a GT-R replica with GT-R running gear, and also provides the more authentic driving experience. The GT-Four is N/A only and the majority are the 4dr model, so the 2dr coupe models are pretty rare. If someone absolutely had to build a replica, this is the chassis to use.
Hey Craig, thanks for spreading your wisdom and experience. I recently bought a GTT as they're now legal for import in the states and I was seriously wondering if people would look down on me for it; I never planned on passing it off as a GTR with fake badges, but the GTT is often looked down upon as the "poor man's GTR" by online enthusiasts. Your reassurance that it's still a great car as long as I'm not trying to fool anybody is much appreciated. I feel a lot more confident in making a built RB25DET and slapping a meaner front bumper on the thing (along with a full disclaimer that it's a humble GTT, of course). I genuinely hope more car enthusiasts share your opinion of the R34 GTT being a fun and capable RWD Skyline.
Dude enjoy your gtt. I have a sedan r34 and constantly get talked shit to about it being a fake skyline. Most of the people talking shit are just envious.
Best one I got was a Women telling me her E36 diesel was an M3 she put M3 parts on. But the moment she turned the Key it sounded like a London Taxi Cab
I would love to own an R34, as the case with many people. But the prices are too high now, I just stick with my MK4 and FD and be content with having those two.
You can try get the GT/25GT model...but they are kinda expensive for what are they...and most of them are 4door auto. Imho GT coupe with 5speed is one of the rarest R34...(rare no expensive or fast) :-D
They could at least change the drivetrain to a GTR one. Expensive of course but if you want a GTR badge you gotta do that.. i would feel embarrased to pose as a GTR even tho the GTT is also badass on its own

(Warning, long winded story ahead) This reminds me of my time at a tyre fitting company. In the UK we had a model of MkIV VW Golf called an R32 (not to be mistaken for the Skyline) and as a tyre fitter at the time I worked on quite a few of these as a tyre fitter as well as a service tech. Any who, on a quiet and sunny day we had a very young chap pull into our car park with a silver 4 door R32 MKIV Golf. As this was 2004/5 we commented on how much of a nice car he had and that he was quite lucky to own one at such a young age. This was while we were discussing what tyres he wanted and other services we offered etc... We were a little perplexed by the fact that he settled on budget tyres for, what was considered at the time in the UK, such a powerful car. Either way, I offered to drive his car in for him which he declined and drove it in for us instead. It was at this moment I realised that there was something not quite right with his car. All the body work was mint, the paint was factory, the wheels were not curbed, the exhaust tips were shiny and chrome and the car sat like an R32. What twigged to me that the car was not right were the brakes. Now, the car had rear disc brakes (relevant) but the front brakes looked hugely inadequate for what these cars made at factory power. As I jacked the car up, removed the wheels and THE SPACERS my initial gut feeling about this car was confirmed. It was a replica. What made this car and its owner very funny was I could over hear the owner talking to my foreman about his car and bragging about how fast it was and how well off he was to afford it etc... Well, when it came time to do the cars tracking and to drive it on the ramp I had to drive it for insurance purposes to get it on our 4 poster. I set the car up to be tracked then checked our data sheet for the tracking specs and depending on the exact spec of the car determined the tracking specs. As I knew the car was not a R32 (no 4wd system to be seen as well as the small brakes, tiny sump, etc) I shouted to my foreman to ask what the car was. The owner came out, having heard, and very proudly responded "an R32!" So I replied "no, what is it, really?" long pause "a 1.4..." It tuned out to be a base spec, 1.4 Golf with a R32 kit on it and a rear disc brake conversion. The owner was very, very quiet afterwards and stopped bragging. This explained why he did not opt for more premium tyres, not that that stops people these days..... Long story but I thought it was worth a share. I would have had way more respect for the guy had he been honest and not bragged but nope. Oh I do wonder how many people he tricked into thinking it was a real R32...
The GTT is the customisation drift car, a GTR Kit with a custom street look with some decals is perfect for the GTT. I just wouldn’t slap a GTR logo on it or even bother with the interior. I would rather have no logo. And go all in on the custom 00’s streetracing look and with some crazy tunes. I would not want to do something like that to the GTR which is more of a collectors show car at this point.
I mean all you really gotta do is just mention that, “Yeah its a GTT, but its modded to be a GTR” I mean as long as the GTT was modded to a near perfect replica to a GTR then there should be no issue mentioning its former self. Just dont lie that you bought a GTR straight up.
I agree, it's just like those Skyline GT-R R34 owner who convert the looks into Skyline GT-R Nur, CRS and even Z-Tune R34 as long as they don't lie or even taking advantage fooling others by claiming it's real CRS or Nur or Z-Tune then I see no problem Same things with 435i and M4, C350 and C63 AMG, RC200T and RC-F, 458 and Speciale, Corvette C8 and Z06, and so many more examples
I got my gtt with a gtr conversions (rear quarters from a gtr and authentic gtr front down to headlights) . I’m not trying to fool anyone. If they ask then it is a gtt period. It’s the emotion i feel when I go into my garage at 7am, I cannot afford a gtr. My car isn’t technically legal in the us federally lol but I do have a state title. It’s a 40k risk that I take to fullfill a dream. Stupid? Absolutely worth it? In the long run probably not. But the amount of kids and younger enthusiasts days that I make including mine is so worth it. I’m 22 and have zero regrets. Come get me Uncle Sam (:
I'm still in the process, lots of labor of love at the moment, swapping mostly everything from an EvoX into my 2013 Lancer GT Sport Wagon. All the time people tell me "hey man, nice Evo!" I tell them in return, "look again please because, it's not an Evo." I bought custom GT badges that seem like would come with the GT trim level. Nowhere on my car will you ever find anything labeled "Evolution." I'm dedicated and proud of what I am currently building.
I agree, as much as I love the Nissan Skyline I love the Supra more, I have a TT engine and everything from my first RZ supra to put into my SZ supra but atleast the body panels I dont need to change unless I am doing a bodykit. Even if I got my hands on a GTT 34 I wouldnt convert it as it still looks nice, is a fun rear wheel drive drift car and still fast.
@@ivanweapon1196 Not really, difference is why scrap a perfectly good engine and hi-spec parts on a wrecked body RZ when I can transfer the stuff easily over to the SZ and cost less than buying a stock RZ. In fact considering I have the TT engine already, TT rear diff, TT gearbox, TT engine managment box, greddy intercooler, apexi airfilter, Blitz boost controller, Apexi AFC Neo etc etc already it will only cost me £600 to have do the conversion and they take away my NA engine and NA parts also to sell to people who need them, so I get my 400bhp supra that I know and love from before in a new body to drive around in again.
Worked at a business that imported in SoCal, mostly we’d do Kei-Segment, Passenger cars, utility vehicles, et cetera, but occasionally we’d get some hypebeast vapester who’d come in wanting a “Skyline” and then promptly throw a fit upon receiving the vehicle because he didn’t know that a skyline is just a midsize passenger car, GT-T is a touring car homologation special performance package.
To go from rwd to awd it cost about 30000-40000 aud as the sub frames need to be changed and every suspension component the front frame rail needs to be notched and the transmission tunnel need to be fabricated to fit the transfer case You also need the gtr rear diff as well as the front diff sump.
There is a series on the " B is for build " channel from a few years ago where he hacks the LR quarter replacement on a claimed to be GT-R. ( home made inner fender, welded the trunk vent shut ) I'm now wondering if this car was an actual GT-R or a GTT . Remember, this guy is an IT guy with little automotive experience, he brings others in to do the difficult stuff.
@Placeholder Name I know what you mean, but they did somehow combine an R34 body with an R35 body. They cut out the floor of the r34 body and basically turned the r35 into a body on frame car.
A college buddy and I took a trip to Japan in August. He bought an R34 GTT Skyline and we took a few trains out to where it was stored just outside of Tokyo. The dealer took us to a hanger/warehouse and showed us around. It was loaded with actual r34 GTRs in storage waiting for import to the US. It was pretty cool, and I'm not even a car guy.
If you converted it with the right parts then they can call it a GT-R tribute or GT-R conversion, if you ask them and they’re saying it’s a numbers matching GT-R and stuff that’s a different story it’s just like if someone built a Chevelle and made it an SS but it’s not an actual SS car it’s a tribute if you went through the time and effort to make that car what it is you can at least call it a tribute car.
I don't mind someone fitting all the GTR parts on a GTT and making it as close to GTR spec as possible, but just don't put the badge on it. I'd respect it even more knowing that someone put all the work into their GTT to make it as close to a GTR as possible if I saw the GTT badge on the front and back.
a good sample of this kind of conversion is from an austrailian car youtuber named BROKEN SILVIA it was a GTT but he converted it into a GTR... and it really amazed me on how it was built...
So if someone legit builds a proper R34 with ALL THE CORRECT PARTS, you still don't count it because of the dealer plate?! That's the only thing?! To me, it's wayyyy better outside of a warehouse collection! Way more pride going for it 🙌 👏 💪
I agree with slapping a badge on and unmodified car but if you put in the work and EVERYTHING but the VIN plate is GTR then you diserve the badge. This is car pretention and is toxic to everyone but VIN collectors.
I agree full heartedly with @jacobmillee6360 everything word for word I was literally thinking the same exact thing even about them damn vin collectors 😅🤣😭
It might not be an original GTR, but it is a GTR replica. That's still a GTR. I don't really get the gatekeeping on this kind of stuff. As long as they're not selling it as an actual, original GTR, then I don't see the problem.
I can see prices stabilising pretty quickly within a year or so of 2024. There are so many R34s sitting in Japan, awaiting import that are already owned by Americans. I think the market will be flooded by those trying to make a quick buck. While the R34 will never become "cheap", I can see the hype dying off a bit once they are no longer "forbidden fruit" they are currently. As for the GTT/GTR thing, who cares? I don't think it matters. People can do whatever they want.
I have a GTX (4door with 4ws). The price I paid in 2016 was £3k it’s now currently worth around £12-15k. The prices of these cars are being heavily inflated by the American market for sure.

You forgot to mention that you can buy a nice R32 GTR or even a R33 GTR for the price of an R34 GTT
Yea, I agree. I would only use GTR badges if it's both a body conversion and an RB26 + 4wd drivetrain from a crashed donor car.
I like gtt rear fenders more than gtr
did you convert from rwd to awd?
This is no different than putting SS badges on a regular ass Chevelle, or M3 badge on a regular 3 series. People have been doing this shit since at least the 1960's. Skylines aren't special. The thing with Skylines is a lot of people don't even know the lesser models exist. They don't know Skylines come in 4 cylinder, 4 door taxi specs.
And just like Craig points out, everyone looking to see if it's a true super sport or a clone they go straight for the Vin plate.
I used to see SS emblems stuck on Chevys that never had the SS package as an option. :D
@@xbrandon502x There is going to be vin fuckery, 100% and even people who know about the GT-R registry, who are afraid the car sells to someone else if they wait is going to get burned. There was already vin fuckery 20 years ago in my country with R34's registrered as R33's with R33 vins etc to get around taxes and emissions.
If they were the same price yeah, bet lets be honest if you were offered one for free it would be a gtr
Just buy a Focus RS
I feel for the people paying $40k for a GTT 🫣
How about $60k?
tho u cant afford one
The real tragedy is the amount of good condition GTTs will decrease, which will make the GTT more rare.
@@ACommenterOnRUclips @mdnyt_r. Look me up. Leave it to internet kids to assume everything is a lie.
Man 99,9% of GTT owners just slap the body kit (Z-tune) and call it a GT-R

I bet 99% of all the 12 year old Supra and R34 kids didn't even know trims besides the GT-R existed

@@UnrelatedNonsense I was referring mostly to the R34GTR, but even the prices for 32’s and 33’s are getting ridiculous now
for sure. I'm turned off of pretty much the whole catagory.

Imma buy a GT-R and slap GTT badges
What made the gtr special was the performance for a cheap price, at 100 -200k there are better cars to buy
especially for a 25 yr old nissan
name a 'better' car to buy
Most people that modify their GTT to have a GTR look do it because it simply looks good. The vast majority of GTT owners are proud to own a GTT and don't try and fool people to have a GTR.
spot on
I’d totally get a GTT and change some stuff to where it closely resembles a GTR but I would not slap any GTR badges on it.
Yep. Nothing wrong with a gtt. Own it.
its 40k vs 200k tho
As a former Civic Si owner who used to see "RSX Type-R"s at car meets, thank you
Shout out to those people who embrace they GTT and the v6 mustang, Camaro ect.
Be Grateful, and God Bless You 🙏
$150k+ for a 1990s Nissan?? Ya’ll are fucking crazy
I'm content with a GTT build using GTR wheels, bumper and spoilers. But placing that GTR emblem on there is sacrilegious.
Content?
Yes content
I’ll agree
no GTR emblems on GTT
I’d be happy as a pig in shit to own a GTT and proudly show that off as a GTT
Nice car
It reminds me of when people take base model Lancer and make them look like EVO s while making 160HP
That's actually a good comparison because I think the main part of the base Lancer and Lancer Evo body is identical just like the skyline bodies
I totally understand the need to fill that void of owning a GTR by whatever means. However, with a budget like that, you can do a really cool GTT build and not look like a poser or a GTR wannabe. My idea from the top of my head:
- nice Rb25, stroked to a 2.8l, big single turbo, Plazmaman intake manifold, front mount intercooler
-Invest in a PPG/Samsonas/Hollinger or whatever sequential transmission as opposed to the Getrag 6 speed
- fat wheels & tyres, pumped rear guards, Z tune front guards, top secret bonnet.
- Get a Haltech/motec ecu with adapter harness
- Motec dash with a Motec --> R34 mfd casing and have it plug straight into your ECU which works 1000x better than a 90s MFD
I am an R34 GTR owner who was extremly lucky and feels blessed to have bought one when they were worthless, id respect anyone's GTT build 100 times over compared to someone who is trying to be a GTR.

It’s also pretty standard for original owners to get annoyed by it.
I’ve seen people turn the 4’s into 2 doors on those
Hey Craig, thanks for spreading your wisdom and experience.

The owner came out, having heard, and very proudly responded "an R32!" So I replied "no, what is it, really?" long pause "a 1.4..."
It tuned out to be a base spec, 1.4 Golf with a R32 kit on it and a rear disc brake conversion. The owner was very, very quiet afterwards and stopped bragging. This explained why he did not opt for more premium tyres, not that that stops people these days.....
Long story but I thought it was worth a share. I would have had way more respect for the guy had he been honest and not bragged but nope. Oh I do wonder how many people he tricked into thinking it was a real R32...
my old mk4 golf had rear discs same engine as his
Thanks for sharing. That's hilarious 😂
If I ever got a chance to talk to someone with an R34 the first thing I'd do is ask to pop the hood
I mean all you really gotta do is just mention that, “Yeah its a GTT, but its modded to be a GTR” I mean as long as the GTT was modded to a near perfect replica to a GTR then there should be no issue mentioning its former self. Just dont lie that you bought a GTR straight up.
I agree, it's just like those Skyline GT-R R34 owner who convert the looks into Skyline GT-R Nur, CRS and even Z-Tune R34
as long as they don't lie or even taking advantage fooling others by claiming it's real CRS or Nur or Z-Tune then I see no problem

I woukd have special badges made were it sayd gtT in bright red on the t :) i wouldent lie id still say its a ggt or NOT THE GTR r34 :p
@@darylobey8867 that badge actually looks pretty good
Worked at a business that imported in SoCal, mostly we’d do Kei-Segment, Passenger cars, utility vehicles, et cetera, but occasionally we’d get some hypebeast vapester who’d come in wanting a “Skyline” and then promptly throw a fit upon receiving the vehicle because he didn’t know that a skyline is just a midsize passenger car, GT-T is a touring car homologation special performance package.
man, for once i wish I lived in california, would've loved to get one of those kei cars off you lads
Its absurd that GTT is considered reasonable price at 35-50k USD. I remember these things were like 8K AUD. 35-50 was GTR money
To go from rwd to awd it cost about 30000-40000 aud as the sub frames need to be changed and every suspension component the front frame rail needs to be notched and the transmission tunnel need to be fabricated to fit the transfer case
You also need the gtr rear diff as well as the front diff sump.
Not to mention the Attesa Pump, electronics and wiring. Im struggling to even find an Attesa Pump replacement.
Not to mention all of the chassis bracing, wheelbase is slightly longer on the gtr (anyone with GTR guards on a GTT will see)
There is a series on the " B is for build " channel from a few years ago where he hacks the LR quarter replacement on a claimed to be GT-R. ( home made inner fender, welded the trunk vent shut ) I'm now wondering if this car was an actual GT-R or a GTT . Remember, this guy is an IT guy with little automotive experience, he brings others in to do the difficult stuff.
Do you mean the project where he put an R34 body on top of an R35 body? That was not a GTR, it was either a GTT or one of the other non gtr versions
@@BriShep123 I don't know if you're describing that project wrong, but the way you're saying it can't be done with unibody cars
$110k for a GTT is absurb. Just get a used R35 at that point.
The poor country equivalent of these are Mitsubishi Galant GTi owners rebadging them as VR-4s. I was baffled seeing those for the first time.
Honestly if you call it a replica, there's no issue with the badges. That's kinda the point! Given it's a full GTR conversion that is...
a good sample of this kind of conversion is from an austrailian car youtuber named BROKEN SILVIA it was a GTT but he converted it into a GTR... and it really amazed me on how it was built...
GTT's are their own great things, I don't understand why people feel the need to try to turn them into a gtr.
There is also a four door skyline ig?.?
Yes most definitely
Nissan stagea r34 would be so cool to own :)
yes, but highest trim is GTT
yeah
skyline er34
It might not be an original GTR, but it is a GTR replica. That's still a GTR. I don't really get the gatekeeping on this kind of stuff. As long as they're not selling it as an actual, original GTR, then I don't see the problem.
I feel it's a bit like saying Kaitlyn Jenner is a woman. Yeah, in one way she kinda is. But in another way, no she isn't.
You start with a Skyline GT4 so you get the AWD floorboard to start with. That makes or breaks the conversion project.
Its still a skyline.
That’s like comparing a ZL1 ILE camaro to a 1992 rs with a 305 automatic 4 speed
People can do whatever they want.
they will always be forbidden fruit due to the rarity- define 'prices stabilizing'
Or if you want a real GT-R, buy an R32 or R33 GT-R for the price of a nicely done up R34 GTT.
For me it's like putting Super Sport badges on a Chevelle, Nova, or Camaro I don't mind as long as you are willing to admit it's a clone or tribute
I went on that website and holy crap man 220k for a R34 GTR is absurd
I have a GTX (4door with 4ws). The price I paid in 2016 was £3k it’s now currently worth around £12-15k. The prices of these cars are being heavily inflated by the American market for sure.
