CharaChorder typing / chording demo ⌨️

- I'm a user/customer, not a CharaChorder employee. Here's an explanation of typing and creating chords on the CharaChorder keyboard so you can see for yourself how it works.
You can see how the letters get jumbled then replaced, which is why the viral coverage of Riley's "ban" from monkeytype speed records showed an accuracy percentage in the 70s. It's not actual inaccurate typing, it's noting the before and after states.

Dont worry. In the future computer can read brainwaves and you can type it fast while you think about it.

Ok zoomer
I love the fact that you took your time to explain everything into details
4:40 what did he type 😳
So far the only tutorial I've seen that takes it slow and doesn't require prior experience to soft design.
Hey man thanks a lot. I was really overwheld and confused but now it all makes sense. Thank you.
I can't believe its working! keep it up! Shared everywhere! You deserve it!
Great review, very clear. Thank you, good luck, everything, peace and health!
Great video. Love seeing from the perspective of a new user
Thanks! More to come.

TNice tutorials is absolutly the best video of the world you expaining skills are good and it was a honor to see tNice tutorials vid well done
will get it. Just don't get burnt out. Whenever you need a break, take one.
The only video that finally shows how this device works. Even the creator itself can't clearly explain the basics.
know where to start a new soft and I didn't know how to switch from soft to . You are the best THANK YOU FOR NOT
Sweet tutorial fam !

What a good tutorial thanks!!
ty cuz ive been having a hard ti getting started.
This is a great video. As far as ergonomics, is this comfortable with long term use? How is it with special characters for coding?
i mean i would assume special characters wouldn't be a problem since u can customly assign them..
as far as ergonomics, no clue
Fast download, thank you brother))

TNice tutorials one is really good, among all other basics videos
Thanks so much for making tNice tutorials video! You really broke it down well.
Hey Mike, thanks for the video. I am considering purchasing soft softs for the first ti. Do you have the personal version or the

going well. For so reason tNice tutorials video struck as really concise and really cleared up so questions I had. The DAW I used back in
INSANE!
I love the idea of rethinking the keyboard. The biggest issue obviously is the time it takes to learn something as complex as this.
One big question I have: this seems to be designed for english solely right? I cant imagine this working well in german where compound nouns can get really, really long.
Fantastic video, thank you! I'm a project manager, so this device would undoubtedly benefit me given all the emails, contracts, and other documents I always have to generate. One question though, as you're learning and becoming more proficient on this device, do you think it will be harder to occasionally go back to a standard QWERTY, i.e. if you can't take this Charachorder gizmo with you everywhere? thanks again for the great vid...subb'ed.
Right now I go back and forth every day, as I'm not yet using my CharaChorder for everything, although I can use it for more and more with each day of practice. It feels weird to switch after a few hours, like when I've been driving my Chevy Volt mostly, and then I need to take the minivan somewhere... not like you don't know how to drive anymore, but the car handles differently. My fingers yearn for the CharaChorder tbh, but I doubt I'll ever lose more than maybe a couple percent of my Qwerty speed (unless, say, 15 years goes by without Qwerty)
As someone who uses two different keyboards with two layouts frequently, I had the same worry. But in reality if the input devices are different enough your brain segments the input devices into two different bits of your brain.
In my mind it's like saying oh I play the guitar and the piano. You wouldn't expect this person to mess up switching between the instruments.
@@tomhepz or similar to being bilingual and how you can separate both languages. Really really neat!
@@scotth7267 not really, I sometimes actually mess up some words and say them in the wrong language haha
agreed. this thing is absolutely great. i'm a programmer. now i need to find a way to discourage my project manager from using it. he'd think every project can be progressed more rapidly if he could type email faster 😭
Thanks so much for tNice tutorials bro
you are so helfull man god bless you love from india
I am very glad that you save my money
Have you tried a DecaTxt chord keyboard? It types with one hand and you can even use it in your pocket. More designed for wearable or spatial computing.
I want to learn how to do tNice tutorials but I need equipnt first any recomndations on what I should get or need
Worked very fast
you might want to look into stenographic theory and the plover project
Very interesting. I wonder how well you'd do with uncommon names? That would probably mean spelling it out on a keyboard where you're used to taking shortcuts.
OP said in the video that you could program certain words and key combinations so there's that I guess. Pretty neat since it would mean that not everyone's will be the same
thank you so much for tNice tutorials video sir!

omg that how I feel!
I just bought one on backorder, Im excited to start using it too. It looks difficult tho.
It's maybe what you would expect, like learning a whole new kind of game controller when you already know how to use something else really well. I went all-in, 2-4 hours a day for my first month (where I am at the time of posting this comment) and am at about half my Qwerty speed. May be a couple more months until I surpass it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm 50-100% faster by the end of 2022.
@@lambchorder1894 did you get faster or used to it?
cool!
Thank you so much for this vid.
I'm an audio transcriptionist, & my wrists are beginning to hurt (that carpel-tunnel thing) so I'm looking for other solutions to keep working. This looks like it may be a solution.
Has anybody had a similar experience & has tried this? Would love some feedback.
Thanks in advance.
I have RSI in my fingers and hands and the Charachorder utilizes different muscles for typing (lateral instead of vertical) and alleviates a lot of tension on the fingers. The device sits low on the desk and your wrist will normally float above the device or rest on the desk (I find the floating more accurate, but more tiring). It takes a LONG time to get used to the Charachorder, but when you do, your hands will appreciate it.
@@JasonHolt74 Many thanks. The in-depth response is much appreciated.
2:50 is awesome
Is it possible to download different languages, since I'm Dutch? So that I could easily switch between Dutch and English?
I don't see how this is better than normal steno. Please tell me what I'm missing.
so, one could program a regular keyboard to make complete words when multiple keys pressed at the same time
Great review! I use a lot of shortcuts in Microsoft Excel. Can you create chords that send key combos like “p+r+t” to send Ctrl-Shift-F12 (shortcut for Print dialog)?
I believe for a shortcut that complex that you may need a separate app for handling macros, at least until the CharaChorder team incorporates macros into Chorder Manager. But I hear of people doing things like this.
I'm trying to learn even though I only have fruity edition instead of the producer edition
route, and connect it to my computer system, will it be as simple as creating one track and play a composition through it, recording it, then
I want to cry. On god I want to cry. Oh god I can’t stand the agony.
Intuitive but at the end of the day far more complicated learning curve than a keyboard for your average joe which is why it'll never get mass acceptance
thanks tNice tutorials really helped
I'm an author as well and I just ordered my characorder. I'm interested to hear how it's going for you and if you are using it full time yet?
It won't make you write less shitty books

Why does the GMS tNice tutorialng doesn't soft sa way like it did in the video?

Nice intro into this keyboard. I feel clumsy with normal keyboard, too many typos. As in, I think my finger is over some letter but I halfpress two letters. As a software developer, I actually don't care about chords at all. Do you think there's some chance you can learn to type "normally" way way better over long periods of time, making less typos? I suppose your fingers are on the proper keys at all times. So there's that. But I can foresee that the I can still press the wrong key every now and they, or just press them in out of order fashion, to there's still be plenty of typos ...
I think at higher speeds, at least for me, the CharaChorder requires a higher level of skill than a regular keyboard. With the switches moving in all directions, there are more opportunities for errors.
If I were you, I might try different types of keyboards with different types of keys. Maybe you need a mechanical keyboard that takes a higher amount of pressure to push a key down and makes a satisfying sound when it does. Many gamers like this kind of keyboard because it helps keep them from accidentally using abilities by pressing the wrong key.
❤️
how do you add a sample in that you have on your mac already
Em....when we finished to compose how to get it out ?
can you type some programming scripts using it? the special chars are more common for programmers
Yep! You can type individual characters normally, and then when you press multiple characters at the same time it creates a chord as demonstrated in the video. It has every character that a normal keyboard would.
curious on your thoughts after 7 months?
I'll stick to the keyboard thanks.
What's cool is they've released a standard keyboard version called the CharaChorder Lite that starts shipping this Spring. Once I get mine I'll be able to compare chording on a standard keyboard layout versus two joystick-covered horseshoe crabs. I'm told your max speed on the Lite is capped because of inefficiencies with finger placement, but the learning curve is easier.
In soft One, there is relatively little although I will say soft One has so fantastic features and I tNice tutorialnk it is going places (Rated No 2

Buy one, invest hundreds of hours to get good at it, then they go out of business and you can never replace it.
TNice tutorials is exactly about everytNice tutorialng that you'll ever need to do to make soft on soft soft
Hey bro! I need soone who know After effects. Can you help?
It's a nice concept but with every generation inventing new internet slang and needing nuanced typing functions we'll see how it holds up. It's easier for people to learn how to type faster and typing that fast isn't all that important in everyday life. My typing speed averages at 120wpm, 150 if I'm trying and peak at 170, and trust me it sounds cool but the speed isn't that useful. You still spend most of your time carefully thinking of what you want to write in many circumstances
Also, if this were popularized, anyone interested in programming at all (in the future I imagine this will be an even more significant population than today) would still need an ordinary keyboard to handle programming tasks. There's strong reason to think that this just won't be a widely adopted tool. We'll probably master brain-computer interfaces which renders keyboards obsolete altogether before this is keyboard system is developed enough to become remotely practical
I completely understand that keyboard enthusiasts will be greatly interested in this -- and we shouldn't discourage the exploration of technological innovations. But if you're someone who just wants to improve your typing speed, there are ways to do that without buying this new keyboard and it will take much less time to get faster than to learn an entirely new system
Could chords not still work with a standard keyboard? And since you've already mastered qwerty, would it not be faster to learn? I mean, you could just do this in software with an existing qwerty keyboard. THAT seems to me to be the smart way to do things, not constantly entering the Capcom cheat code.
Is it possible to use this keyboard writing in Portuguese?
Hey bro want to full tutorial on 1 each & every step by step
Can it type in other languages?
wait so it supports.......steno?
I need this so bad. I think I would be great at this, but the price tag on this is way too much for me. I thought spending 100 on my keyboard was a little much, I'm not ready to spend 300. This is such a cool thing though
I opened up a new project and deleted the area where you "paint" the soft and I don't know how to make it co back!! Lol

how are you supposed to know the chords for all possible words??? You're supposed to memorize every single combo for every single English word? Or you just memorize the ones you use the most? And by default you use normal single letters?
