Old video but a possible explanation for patients who have more trouble with lateral movement than medial are pes planus of the feet or internal rotation of the hip. However the solution would be indifferent as perfecting the knee position when performing jumps would fix the other issues

Idk man, maybe after tearing the ACL 3 times should be sufficient sign that you shouldn't be returning to contact sports? I'd look for something else. Not to discourage her but obviously, you need to do something else for your long term health

Most acl injuries are from noncontact scenarios. Jumping, pivoting, cutting, sliding. Basketball may be the carrot on the stick for her, but what her parents are paying for is for her to live a long and healthy active life without acl rupture. She could pick up hiking or bouldering some day. She could get invited to ski with her friends. She could pick up dancing. She has her whole life ahead of her, and there are many noncontact activities which she might take an interest to sometime in the future and this helps her be able to pursue those as well with as much safety as possible.

Just why would you want to go back to basket ball after your third acl op?? are you mad?? I haven't kicked a football, run or jumped for almost a year. this is was the first time i have had an op and its just put me off ever going back to sport. Dont miss, wont miss ever. The psychology and the rehab work is just too much to miss sport for me.

I get what you are saying as my first real injury was my acl and meniscus and it was/is awful coming back to basketball at age 36 but if you love the sport you gotta do it. Plus it’s good exercise. If you can not miss the game at all obviously that’s safer but bad things can happen doing anything and I love playing to much.

@@ant2537 HAha i think i was slightly upset and struggling mentally when i left this comment. I take everything back haha. I have been back to football, the gym and running. Lifting more than i did before the injury. I have also run couple of half marathon since and i'm playing football again 1-2 times a week competitively. Looking back i honestly did not think it would be difficult. I was struggling with basic day to day movement. The long winter months doing physio just makes you question why you play or if its worth going back. I am glad i have now. The injury and the rehab has also taught me so much more about my body. I work on my hamstrings, balance, core, glutes more now than i used to. I feel solid now and very confident getting back on the pitch every time. Ps i met a guy at my physio who was going through his fourth Acl injury 😂😂

Do you have any videos on good exercises for partial ACL tears with no surgery. I partially tore my ACL 5 months ago and I am hopping now...not as big as the woman in this video, but hopping and doing very short jogs, lots of balancing exercises, squats, side lunges, swimming daily...I won't list it all here. I’m 8 weeks out of ACL and meniscus surgery. I just returned to work this week, I have to say recovery sucks.
I’m used to being able to walk fast, skip everywhere, and just be off the ground…so being this slow and still not being able to bend my leg all the way to my butt is weird.

@@jacklynwood2008 it's chronic for me.....i had problems in completely straightning my leg after squating for 15-20 mins and a feeling of knee giving up after climbing stairs. I used to practice karate for 3-4 years when i accquired the injury so my range of motion wasn't impacted much but my performance surely decreased when i started feeling my knee giving up after sparring for 2 mins. As of know i stopped practicing karate but still continued stretching, yoga, resistance training to maintain my mobility and also loose some weight so as to put less strain on the knee..things are hard but i am fighting✌️

I've done two ACL surgeries, one on each knee. As far as I know, reconstructing with allograft is much riskier method compared to other, not because the surgeon can't do it, it's because it is a foreign tissue that it is inserted into your body. It also depends on how your body will react to it.

It all depends on your recovery. at 5.5 months (> 24 weeks) you are cleared for sport IF (its a big IF) you have done your rehab and your knee is up to scratch. Meaning - it' shealed, but is it strong and controlled enough - and is it conditioned? If you're ticked all the home work boxes like Ela in this video - then you should be ok:)
