The Boston Celtics Just Showed Us Exactly What We All Feared..| NBA Finals News (Porzingis, Tatum)

  • The Boston Celtics came out of the gates in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals in about as dominant of a fashion as possible against the Dallas Mavericks. With the return of Kristaps Porzingis from injury to the rotation, many were curious what his impact would be within the Celtics offense, and if he would be 100% to complement Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, etc. And well, what we saw in Game 1 definitely answered our questions.
To start with the Celtics offense vs the Mavs, it was really better than ever. KP showed us that new dimension to Boston’s offense he unlocked when he arrived along with Jrue Holiday. By using Porzingis alongside Al Horford to stretch the floor, create openings for others, etc, Celtics HC Joe Mazzulla was having his way with the creativity they showed to kick off the 2024 NBA Finals in Boston.
Then in terms of the Celtics defense, this was also phenomenal. Whether it was JT, JB, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis manning the middle, and even Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard off the bench with all of their efforts to slow down Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, etc, this side of the ball stole the show. And if Porzingis is able to keep up the two-way production we saw in Game 1, it is going to do a ton in terms of leading to the Celtcs being 2024 NBA champions.
This video includes 2024 Boston Celtics NBA Finals highlights, also including topics like Boston celtics 2024, celtics mavs game 1 nba finals, celtics vs mavs nba finals, celtics mavericks game 1, celtics nba finals, celtics vs mavericks game 1, kristaps porzingis injury news, porzingis nba finals, jayson tatum nba finals, jaylen brown finals highlights, jrue holiday highlights, derrick white highlights, celtics full game, boston celtics live, celtics mavs game 1 reaction, celtics mavs game 2 preview, celtics post game, celtics interview, celtics reaction, al horford celtics, joe mazzulla interview, boston celtics vs dallas mavericks, celtics film, celtics game, celtics live stream, jayson tatum interview, celtics defense game 1, porzingis block, porzingis game 1, porzingis enters game, sam hauser celtics, celtics mavs game 2 nba finals, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.

The media was so unfair to Boston this year. The Celtics don’t have 5 players who can ALL shoot threes and can all defend/switch. They legitimately have 8. After Boston beats Dallas in 4 or 5, people will realize how unfair their roster is in today’s NBA.

Interesting that I don't see the media talking about the fact that this is the FOURTH matchup of these teams this season, The Celtics are 4-0, and NONE of the games have been particularly close. Doncic scoring 30 while taking TEN MORE SHOTS than any other player, with ONE assist, is exactly how Joe Mazzula drew it up. The classic example of the star player NOT making his teammates better, resulting in a blowout loss.

The Celtics are clearly using the tactic of letting Luka get his, because he's just too good to stop, and then clamping down on everyone else. To me, Dallas has a lot of work to do. Luka is great, but it looks like Kyrie can be contained. Outside of that, Dallas has some mobile bigs who can dunk off the lob but can't get their own shots, and a few other guys who are only good scorers occasionally. When you look at the firepower of these two lineups, Boston has a huge advantage.

5 reasons why dallas is cooked already
1.they are out numbered its 5 vs 2
2.Doncic & Irving have to guard, you can't hide them anymore, that will tire poor Luka out and effect him late in games.
    3. lively & Gafford are good at their roles which are protecting the paint and lob dunks but Porzingis & Boston spacing changes all that.
4.Doncic & Irving are not getting doubled which means they can put up their 30+ but PJ & derrick will have no rhythm & that's all bad
5.Dallas play slow, the reason Indiana gave Celtics trouble was the pace of Indiana, Boston now gets to set their elite defense more often.

Boston pulled out all of its weapons, the spacing, the 3-point shot making, the rim defense, the ability of all 5 players on the floor being constant offensive and defensive threats, and beat the Mavs like a lottery team. But, every game is different, and the Mavs are used to coming from behind in these playoffs. So a lot is hanging on this next game. If the Celtics win, it's not quite over but heading that way. If Dallas wins, we got a nice series.

KP didn't miss a beat and that surprised me. Although Dallas may attempt a counter, I think the Celtics will counter whatever counter Dallas may have. The bottom line is Dallas can't hide Doncic on defense. The Celtics have 6 players who could score 20+ points on any given night. They have too much firepower and too good of a defense for Dallas. The Celtics in 6.

That was an excellent breakdown. The Celtics had a great deal of pride in their defense since the days of the Great Mr. Bill Russell. It continued with John Havelcik (Hondo) and Dave Cowens to Larry Bird (Legend), Robert Parrish, DJ, and Kevin McHale to the next Big 3 of Paul Pierce (Truth) Kevin Garnett (Big Ticket) Rodo, and Ray Allen. It has continued with this team (2023-24) where the Top 6 of Jrue Holiday, D White, Big Al, KP, JT, and JB all play elite defense. This is a bad math and matchup problem for Dallas of 6 vs 2.

It’s unbelievable how much hate and disrespect the Cs 🍀are getting this season. They are the number one team in the league for a reason and it’s not their fault if they had an “easier” path to the finals. Health and durability are part of the game, you ain’t winning if you ain’t playing. Boston is the deepest team in the league right now, they have eight or nine guys who can score and defend.

The counter is not to double Tatum, and then he will go for 40. Boston is a team with every player being a shooter. The double equals open man, rotation to open 3 with everyone at 40%. So the counter is to get crushed by layups. Also not a winning strategy.

Going into the series pretty much every national pundit was praising Dallas' duo while not respecting Boston's. However, offensively they're approximately the same (Dallas' scored only 4 more points) however, defensively, it's not even close. Boston's is in a different league, Dallas' has only been playing defense for like 2 months, and I think they're overrated defensively, while everyone looked past the C's duo's defense. Dallas' will be inefficient, while Luka probably leading scoring, still will have to work for it. I think the C"s have the guards to defend Kyrie well enough but who can defend Tatum or Brown when they get it going? However I think the games will be decided by the others on the court and Boston's roster is just better

They can counter but the main issue here is boston is playing to their strengths something they build through out the season and playoffs and is now amplified to the maximum level, and for this Dallas to be successful they would have to play outside of who they are as Boston has literally taken out three of their main characteristics Lob city, corner threes and packing the paint defense, now you could try to play differently but that won’t work against a well oiled machine that has been doing it the whole season and playoffs. Now we often say season don’t matter, to some extent it’s true but one thing that matters in season is building f**king good habits until it becomes your character, sad to say for Dallas this is bostons character by now… if you bet they would play differently I think you’ll lose that bet. They different cause they build good habits into great character now they have become a great team ready to be historical ❤

At this level in professional sports, it's all about Matchups! That's it. Your players vs. my players. The previous playoff rounds mean nothing. The regular season means nothing. The math is simple. The Celtics have 6-8 guys who can put up 20 points plus on any given night. So if a star or two flops on any given night, it can be overcome. The Mavs have 2 players in that category. One of those stars aka KYRIE didn't put up 30 points so the Mavs lost badly. I don't see this series lasting very long. Kyrie Irving is NOT Stephen Curry and the Celtics are a much better team than 2-3 years ago.
