Watch Episode 6 of The Safari Shots Podcast: • We answer YOUR questio...
Earlier this year, Lance van de Vyver and I visited Kings Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve to film episode 6 of The Safari Shots Podcast in their underground hide, The Kings Warren. Not only was the podcast recording a huge success (we got photo-bombed by elephants!), but we also saw loads of amazing things on game drive. I recorded the four days vlog style and look forward to sharing you this kind of behind-the-scenes type video, which will hopefully give you an idea of just how amazing it is to go on safari at Kings Camp.
A massive thanks to Cathan, Warren and Lisha Moorse, together with the rest of the Kings Camp family, for making us feel so welcome!

One practical aspect of the early morning safaris is how cold it can be when the vehicle is going even 30-40 mph, the wind chill is unexpected and often requires down jacket, cap, and even neck warmer and blanket for the legs to maintain comfort.
Sunday morning in Germany. Drinking a cup of ☕️ and watching your new Video. WOW...😊It's so amazing! Thanks Villiers! 🙋♀️🙋🏼♂️
Wow that's a awesome bird hide & a amazing campsite and nice to see the loins & the cheetah ,elephants 🐘 & rhinos
This made me miss Timbavati a LOT! That lark experience sounds awesome. Great Saturday viewing as usual 👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it, Byron - was lekker to just film kinda behind the scenes before and after we filmed our podcast in the hide. Timbavati has got a special vibe and the veld is just 🤤🤤🤤
Enjoyed this one! Fun going on the game drives with you.
Fabulous drive .. lots of variety
I get a little nervous watching the tracker walking n doing his job .. in case he gets surprised by anything !!
Thoroughly enjoyable. The bush looks so green and fresh. I have never been to African bush in the green season thinking it's too hard to see animals. This changes my perspective. I hope you make a video on Madikwe Game Reserve. It has been on my radar for a long time.
What you saw at the end: an extortionate bill
But o, so worth while! 🐾🖤
😂
Another good underground hide is at Senyati in Botswana about 15km South East to Kasane
We thoroughly enjoyed this vlog Villiers! What an awesome camp & set up that is. Presumably another that we'd need to win the lottery to be able to visit. What a privilege.
Stunning footage beautifully captured as always! Wow what really incredible sightings you guys had, so many big cats, amazing.
Do you always use your R6 for filming even the close ups of you chatting? If so with what lens? Or do you also use GoPro footage?
Also, what was the "big" combination of camera & lens Lance was using?
Plus I was fascinated by the phone (I think) mounted on his big camera & what exactly that was about?
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Dee. I use my iPhone 15Pro to film myself close-up and Lance uses a Canon R3 with a 400mm f/2.8, and the thing he put on top of the camera was a 360 degree camera 😁
@@TheSafariExpertthanks for the reply Villiers, appreciated. Considering changing my 1DX MKii & 400mm f/2.8 for a similar mirrorless combo as I am finding mine way too heavy for me. Need to research the 360deg camera, sounds interesting 👍🏻
Great video! Is this just outside Krugerpark?
Yes, just west of central Kruger.
@@TheSafariExpert, thanks. It looks great. Maybe for my next trip. First 2 weeks Krugerpark next month 😀
There are loads of reserves that adjoin Kruger and have no fence between them and the main national park. As they are private concessions they can have their own rules and allow driving off road. Kruger itself is excellent too. Hope you have a great time.
@@tigershoot I always stay in the parc. I can't imagine not staying in the parc, haha. Maybe, one day
@@annevanrijn There are some places that are not outrageously expensive. I go to Buffelshoek. I also stay in SANparks camps in Kruger
Another great collection of sightings, all beautifully captured as usual! Enjoyed it! Cheers :)
I'm so grateful, that we're living in such an amazing country!! I love that soothing sound of the dove!!❤
All my favorite lions are in the timbavati . Birminghams . Wed love to see more of this reserve . But we get to see the manipulation of lions in these other parks. No help when needed and total manipulation from these parks . We pray that the timbavati is a safe zone for these lions .
that hideout... wow simply wow
Waoo nice video🥰
Good work everyone. Looking forward to the next.
Absolutely amazing sightings, thank you for sharing 👍🏾
I really like Timbavati too, I've stayed at Shindzela Tented camp for 3 times. As nice as the King's camp may be - I've checked the rates, and for me it's too much. Other camps maybe don't have a bathtub, no private pool, no bush breakfast or no underground hide, which is all next level. But the quote is next level as well. Best regards 👋🏾
Just returning from kings camp 10 days ago, seeing this podcast I really do wish I was back. Amazing sightings, great staff, everything comes together.
9 minutes in, you introduce the tracker......
I know it's the way of nature, but I can never consider seeing a hopefull kill as lucky. I'd rather not see it. What gets me is how people marvel to be able to see it. 😢😢
Great to see 4 membres of the5 veyula brothers the undsputed kings of timbavati
This Episode is absolutely next level 👌, one of the best I've ever watched 🙌
Great video!!! Thanks Phellia Stay 😂😂
Those open vehicles and lions. Nah boet.
Great content as always, Villiers.. Can you or someone else say what the birdcalls were while watching the first lot of elephants, and the cheetahs..??
LOL I thought it’s just me trying to ID all the birds and bush sounds …
Orange-breasted Bush-shrike and Black-backed Puffback at ellies and Black-crowned Tchagra at cheetahs 🤓
@@TheSafariExpert brilliant! Thank you, Villiers...
