Harrison's mash is a blend of the pellets/protein that is easy to sprinkle on food OR to mix with hotwater (cooled) for weaning babies. OR as a conversion food...
Just chop the veggies a bit & grind it finer in the veggie chopper. I bought it for 25$ on sale. Hamilton Beach brand.

I do something similar but it's a much more complex mix, I make 20-40 pounds at a time and I sell it to my local pet store for their birds as well. I use these ingredients: Brown rice, black beans, pinto beans, sprouted kamut wheat, sprouted mung bean, wild rice, kale, collard greens, turnip greens, bok choy, bell pepper, butternut squash, sweet potato, papaya, mango, apple, strawberry, carrot, hemp hearts, flax seed, chia seed, coconut oil, green beans, shredded chicken, and various nuts, usually 3-5 kinds, as well as added calcium and probiotics. it's the only thing my birds eat. Seeds are a training treat only for them.

I think birds need a lot of variety but we do the best we can. it's not like in the wild where they feed on just about anything...seeds I would say, as I've read, is very high in fat/calories for them. I just feed them like a healthy person would eat, minus the toxic foods of course, but try to get in some nutrients, protein...I think you're doing the right thing:)

Hello, thanks & happy Easter. We have 21 birds so this will come in handy. They get (what I call) goodie tray, daily. They look so forward to it all the time. We have 3 budgies, lovebird (her mate Mica died about 3 months ago, he was 22). Conure, Senegal, 2 doves (one which is albino), 14 parrotlets. (2 albino).
This is why all your birdys are so healthy you give them excellent food and pure love especially the main dude bowie 🙏❤️💯

A parrotlet is a wonderful little bird for first time bird adoptions.
My little guy has been with us for 2 years and has no problems.
It's about who takes care of him. If every family member has a part in it, the parrotlet will learn to love everyone.
Bowie is pretty charismatic. He just has to sit there and watch and he's fascinating.

I cannot even begin to tell you how surprised I was to see Bowie sitting on the counter. Also I thought when you turned the machine on I thought that he was going to fly away and I was stunned he didn't. What a brave little intelligent fellow he is! Impressive!

I made something similar today, except i put broccoli, watermelon, parsley, vitamin powder and some seeds to encourage them to eat it.Now, they love it! Thank you for the video!
Thanks for this. I have been putting a spoon of the powder mash in my chop and it makes the food slightly drier so it doesn't go soggy!

thank you! I was surprised as well. but then again, I think they're all used to me using the blender for my shakes all the time. also I've tried to introduce them all at a young age what everything is, they are out of the cage most of the time i'm at home.

How do you prevent this from turning into a smoothie? A lot of these veggies and fruit are very watery. Great video though!
That looks great. Some whole wheat flour, some wheat germ, maybe some flax oil and a few seeds and a whole egg (shell too); that would make good birdie bread muffins too!

There are alot of people in the comments saying that their bird only eats seeds from when they were at the store, bro I just feel blessed that my bird loves his pellets more than his seeds. (I mix in a small amount of seeds into his food just to give him a lil bit more of a varied diet)

How did you first introduce veggies to your birds? I tried with my parrotlets but they are just too picky! :(
I am not the person that made the video, but I had my bird from when he was 2 months old, and I started with a mashed fruity thing like this only more blended, from there on I threw whole or parts of fruits in and my Amazone being a real nosy guy tried everything. Now he eats everything as long as it is not red LOL.
Rushna Imran - have them on you or near you. Eat some. That's when they want it. I used organic baby food. They love that slightly warmed.

Rushna Imran- it's actually very easy, just mash some veggies mix it with their regular seeds. So they'll get use to it ☺

Thanks for the info on the mash mix. I like to buy whatever is in season for organic as well. I try not to give them too much cabbage because cabbage can prevent the absorption of calcium. I get kale or swiss chard depending on the price/season/what they had last, and I always have to include beets since my parrotlet will only eat what is red. Also if I included fruit they wouldn't eat their veggies, so fruit is given after.

it is very good way you did ,,, crush Harrison pellet or soaked with hot water ( I do always for my birds ) it is much better than dry .. and good way to mix with soft food .
my birds love harrison pellet soaked with warm water and after feeding them soft and it is very good for bird health.
I bought fruits and veges. Jazz, day 3 here likes apple. Hoping likes more. I love the mash!
I should try that for my budgie as so far he has refused all veggies, though yesterday he tried and liked a piece of pineapple. It was the first time he ate something other than his bird food.

Chef Bowie is the little helper today, lol. Careful not to have apple seeds in there or other vegies cause of the toxins that they can't handle, but that does look very healthy for them. I try some dried cranberries and raisins too, mine love those. Also they enjoy dried pasta. But I'll certainly have to try this to see how birds like it. Be careful of peanuts and almonds. Too many can be hard on birds digestion cause of the fat content.

@aaylesworth yea I think about a week...same as cut fresh food...I'd go by the most easily spoiled food that's mixed inside. At least for me I use it within a week anyway..or u could actually freeze it...nutrition will be lost a bit though.

Nice recipe. My Momager does something similar for our mash & chop.
@62suebu look up "just for birds" , its in Langley near 202st & 64th ave. or "West coast tropical bird studio" in Van. You might already know but the bird hospital is right above their store. You could always call for some advice, maybe they can help you without having to spend too too much.
Keep up the good work with your birdies! I'm glad to see Booboo doing so well. I'm even glad he still gets jelous of Hazel. It means there is no depression from the illness, colar and hospitalizations. :-)

Haha, Bowie on his tippy toes! Great video. I see you snuck some pasta in there after. I should put some of the ingredients I use in my smoothie into a little chopper so that Bean and Rooster get some yummy mash too. I make them harrison's birdie bread and bake them into little muffin tins and freeze. They won't eat the pellets, but will nom on the bread after I reheat it and chop it up into small bits.

@billyedmonson try sprinkling millet all over the food..cuz a bird can't resist millet! Or...try the sweet stuff like corn, strawberries (I know messy) ..most parrotlets also like carrots ..they need extra vitamin A. Sounds like u have a cutie:)

yeah they poop once in awhile where u don't want them to. I have this stuff called "poop-off" (google it) & it's natural enzymes that wipe bird poop off pretty easy. even hard poop u just soak it in the liquid for a minute & it comes off. otherwise they're on their playgyms or cages so they can poop there & not on furntiture or carpet. I have plastic lined under al their cages & playgyms to make cleaning easier
