Your videos are always very informative & interesting.I have a Quaker parrot & a few days ago got a turquoise green cheek conure.I love watching your videos your one of the best out there.❤
Thanks for this video. My baby cockatiel Pete loves his chop but he doesn’t eat until I sit with him. I share my oatmeal with him which is served cold with almond milk. He doesn’t eat much but loves to eat with me.
Sounds like Pete like your company 😊 I have a video on how to get your bird to eat more veggies 🥗 ruclips.net/video/MGyN4F8sY1s/видео.html these tips have helped us to get our birds to eat all the veggies😀 glad you liked the video & wishing you and your bird a clawsome day!🌞✨
My bird does not like veggies much. I tried chop. I made veggie/grain bake instead. Any tips how to get my picky Quaker to eat chop? My bird is adopted. Previous owner did not disclose anything to the rescue Lady. I keep trying and find out more and more what he likes/dislikes. My daughter's birds LOVE their chop but she had them as Babies. I open to tips and to learn more. Thank you for your nice video.

@Poodles and Parrots thank you. I will try it. Yesterday I pulverized his pellets and chopped a yellow pepper and some fennel. I prepared his breakfast containing my bake some veggies, ground pellets and some flaxseed
I have a yellow nape Amazon female. And now a new 1 1/2 year old red and green wing macaw. Trying to convert them from seed to chop. Easiest recipe for conversion? I’m actually a professional pet groomer as well.
Hi, can you help a bit with the quantities? I've seen the wheel, and the type of ingredients we should have, but I'm a little lost with the quantity of the leaves, the grains and legumes. Ty
I share how much to feed your bird in this video; ruclips.net/video/BesniRNHs4c/видео.html or do you mean the amount of veggies and grains to put in your chop? 😊
@@sofiaandrade9449 no your English is great! 😃 I was just reading too fast 🙃 the amounts you put depends on how big or small or a chop you want to make. I usually do smaller batches so it’s fresh but you can make bigger batches if you want to freeze the portions. So for example for a small batch I would do like a half a carrot, 1/4 of a zucchini, a handful of green peas, cook 1/2 a cup of grains, etc etc 🙂 for bigger batches I put full veggies, 1 cup cooked grains or follow the recipes for chop in the birdtricks cookbook. I also have a video on a chop I made with Mia you can try that as well ☺️
@@PoodlesandParrots would that be 1/2 cup total for the grains or like 1/2 cup of each grain (if i put to grains in my chop) and would it be the same for legumes?
Hi there! Great video indeed. I hope you can help me out on this one.... as you know sun conures are expensive so i can affored getting only one. But being a student I wont be at home for the day from 8am to 2 pm but my mom will be at home but still i think a bird having a bird companion is much better. So will it be okay if i keep a cockatiel with a conure so that he/ she does not feel that lonely while i am away? I would love some tips too!
A cockatiel can get along with a Conure but they might not… it truly will depend on the 2 birds and their personalities. We can’t know if they will get along or not, if you already have a cockatiel I would suggest doing some more research. Birds require a lot of time, attention, enrichment & honestly the costs continue once you have a bird. Before choosing if a bird is the right fit for I recommend doing research to be sure, I have a helpful video on costs of a Conure. ✨Hope this helps!✨
No it’s not because we can’t wash off things like bacteria or sprays they use on the crops or in store. I clean veggies/fruits by doing a vinegar and water soak and you can add a bit of baking soda, rinse then wash it with warm water and a veggie wash.
Raw peanuts can contain a toxin called Aflatoxin and it is a liver toxin that is dangerous for parrots. They are also a high fat/ caloric food for them. And parrots need clean, fresh food because their bodies cannot cope with chemicals, pollutants and things like that the way humans can. Peanut shells can easily produce Aspergillus Fungus, a disease that is known to cause serious problems to a parrot's respiratory system.
@@jeffsummitt4397 I don’t freeze chop anymore since I have just one bird and she prefers it fresh over thawed! When making a chop to freeze be mindful of the vegetables you select because some are more watery for example bell peppers and to absorb the moisture after thawing you can add ground flaxseeds - they have to be grounded!
Fresh (organic) mushrooms are not toxic or dangerous to parrots - in moderation. Wild parrots are eating them. Look for Dr. Jason Crean videos here on RUclips.
Great information. Thank you!

are instant grains (90 sec brown rice and quinioa) ok to add in the chop?
Stupid question but is It not safe to just rinse the vegetables with water only? And how much vinegar do I add to the water to soak the vegetables?
No it’s not because we can’t wash off things like bacteria or sprays they use on the crops or in store. I clean veggies/fruits by doing a vinegar and water soak and you can add a bit of baking soda, rinse then wash it with warm water and a veggie wash.
So you dont have to cook hard vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes before adding to the chop?
@@laura44135 those veggies are fine raw and actually more nutritious that way!🥕🍠
May I know why the list mention they cannot war peanut?

I ate my birds chop for 2 days once just so I could see what his life was like, its was basically a Corelife salad
How do you keep your chop that you freeze in baggies from being watery and gross?

Have you ever dehydrated chop or made dehydrated mix?
No I haven’t but that’s an option too! I know BirdTricks offers dehydrated chop in their online store 😊
Thanks I was wanting to try to make it myself was hoping you had some ideas lol
Can parakeets eat chop too?
Yes absolutely!
Can birds eat whey protein if I'm having a smoothie that has that in it?
I would avoid feeding any whey protein! If you want to share your smoothie include only bird safe and healthy ingredients for them to enjoy
I tried to give my Sun Conures chop but they wouldnt even try it lol.
