The list to make a good Thomas The Tank Engine movie 1. Make it about trains 2. Have it in the style of the Paddington movie 3. Get inspired by real-life heritage railways 4. Treat Thomas and his friends as actual engines and not toys 5. Have at least one person who understands Thomas as a consultant in the creative process I love it! It sounds perfect! It has got work! It just has to!
My fan casting for a Thomas movie: Tom Holland as Thomas Benedict Cumberbatch as Gordon Henry Cavill as Henry Jacob Batalon as Percy Robert Pattinson as Edward Ryann Gosling as James Tobey Maguire as Toby Vinncent D'Onofrio as Sir Tophen Hatt Daniel Luga as Hiro Tomura Morrison as the narrator
I really hope it's an ensemble film, and that it's not a Thomas movie, but a Thomas & FRIENDS movie. I want all the main characters to have some time in the spotlight
If a Thomas and friends movie happens they should have everyone from the show railway series and others like Timothy the ghost train Alfred 94862 Thirteen Sixteen Pup and Emma For example
I would want it to be more focused on the railway series if anything. Not that I'm against the TV series (It's my childhood after all) but considering it all takes place on an island, there's too much crammed in. Plus I think it would be awesome if we got reintroduced to RWS only characters like Wilbert, Sixteen, Frank, Ivo Hugh and Pip & Emma. Or even bringing back older favourites like Stepney, Duke and BoCo
This is all very amazing, but the fact that Mattel doesn’t understand these basic concepts about Thomas really hurts me. These are all just common knowledge if you’re a Thomas fan, and Mattel just doesn’t understand it. I really hope this movie is something worth waiting for.
But like, to the general public, they probably don't understand these basic concepts either. I know I certainly didn't until I became a fan. I always knew there was something appealing about the series to me, but I didn't realize it was the level of realism in the Brenner Era, and even some of the Nitrogen Era. It certainly felt more grounded than other shows, is what I'm saying, I just didn't notice when I was watching it at a young age. I'm 15, yes, I'm that young.
This movie is the last chance the franchise has to redeem itself after BWBA and AEG. I love and agree with all the points and concepts you’ve made in this video.
Imagine how amazingly cool it would be that they make realistic movie that bring all the fans from rws/the classic Era and it revives the thomas franchise
I don’t think it has to be too realistic, I just want it to not do anything that doesn’t feel like the original creation. As long as the engines can’t jump off the tracks or have strange dreams of flying through the sky I don’t mind if they go to the Thomas and the jet engine levels of unrealism sometimes!
To be honest, reviving the franchise is a stretch. It never died because it still has a fandom that is strong, but I feel as though not touching it would also be doing it a lot of justice. That way, no more damage could be done to it, and the fans can just keep defending what they love. Although, I really hope this movie is somewhat good. I can’t wait to see the reviews.
I think Marc Forster directing and producing could tell us that we may see a Christopher Robin-eqsue film. Now, that isn't really a bad thing and would suit Thomas well, being a beloved children's classic. I will agree with you that Paddington's tone would be a great fit for a Thomas adaption, too.
Alternatively, Marc Forster could give us a wild, messy hunk of shit loaded to the brim with shaky-cam, Daniel Craig pouting, and a strangely ahead-of-it’s-time plot revolving around the theft of drinking water in a third-world country Yes I *am* still pissed on how badly Quantum of Solace turned out, how could you tell?
I've shared this idea for the Thomas movie somewhere before but I thought I might as well share it here too and add it some extra details. It starts off in WWII with a father telling his sick two year old a story. It’s about a father and son who have drifted apart and the railway that brought them together. The son runs away from home and jumps on a train bound for who-knows-where? It’s delayed because the guard is no where to be seen. At last, the son shouts “Here he comes!” The father just misses the train as it leaves. That train is Edward’s first train in a while from Edward’s Day Out. I'd cheat a little bit here and have the train depart from Barrow-in-Furness. As it races towards the Vicarstown Bridge, the opening credits roll. We don't see the engine's smokebox until the end of the sequence where the train the rolls over the bridge. The camera passes a sign that says "Welcome to Sodor", the camera pans around to the front of Edward, revealing that he does in fact have a face. From there, several classic stories are told from the engine’s perspective (can’t rule that out) but also the son, who makes a life for himself on the railway and the father who’s trying to reunite his son. Eventually they’re brought together by the railway. A story happening unbeknownst in the background on the original RWS stories brought to the foreground
After thinking about it. I do have a idea for a plot. This is a bit dark for "a kids show" as mattel puts it. Basically the railway is going bankrupt from people not riding on the trains. Soon alot of engines have to leave. It all boils down until half of the main cast gets split. Say like maybe only henry, Thomas, Edward and gordon stay (no it didn't put them like that because the numbers. It is because they are developed the most in the team) there are still other engines there but not many. The last standing engines have to figure out a way to get back in service and not get sent to the cutter's torch. Eventually they find a solution. Idk what it would be. But the ending would be with a shot of all of the main cast back together and looking out to the sunset as a reference to all at sea.
I hope it will be a major course correction. Maybe Edward will be the main. Also, Christopher Awdry could be the consultant, because he continued the railway series.
I would want an origin story, as the Mario Movie (which is the highest grossing film of the year) was an origin story for Mario, so I feel like it should be the same with Thomas. But unlike TAB, Thomas will arrive on Sodor in 1915, like in The Railway Series, and it will have scenes of Thomas' life before Sodor, and how he was mistreated by the other E2s for looking different, as I believe that the man who built Thomas built him unique, but the rest of the LBSC thought he would be terrible, when in reality, Thomas was built better than the other E2s. I'm nervous that the upcoming film will only really take inspiration from the Thomas & Friends television series, and if they were to do an origin story, it would take place in modern day rather than the 1910s and 1920s. To make my origin story more unique, they will be subplots, like one about James and how he was originally owned by a controller who mistreated him before coming to Sodor. Mike and Junior could come back to do the soundtrack, Ringo Starr could make a cameo, and when it can work, but Thomas songs and pop culture songs could be in the film, like Mr. Blue Sky as a pop culture song. I would rather it be live action rather than animated to make it feel more realistic, and I would like to have credits animated in the style of The Railway Series. But best of all, I would love to have a post credits scene if Wilbert Awdry as a child, and showing his interest in the Island of Sodor. As I want this film to be something that Wilbert Awdry would be proud of, and something that respected his legacy.
Regarding the music, just imagine how amazing it would be if they weaved in all those classic Thomas songs into the film's score, just like the Mario Movie did.
But there's a good chance they might used licensed songs. (Movies do that a lot nowadays.) So maybe have those songs be hits from the 1930s or something.
Not gonna lie, I do hope this new movie is good and takes Thomas seriously while it has its humor and make the characters' personalities good and not childish. And when you said Thomas isn't a toy, I agree about that. Thomas is not a toy train, but a series about trains, trains who live in a fictional railway, yet the railway plays out like the universe we live in. And not a series about a toy train who can bounce off the track. I also agree the idea of having a Thomas consultant help out in the movie. As of right now, Mattel does not know the appeal Thomas actually is. So having someone like Michael White, Andrew Brenner help out in this movie is a good idea. So none of the stuff in this movie are screwed up. Still excited about this new TTTE movie.😊
When the movie was first announced back in October 2020, Robbie Brenner who is head of Mattel Films has confirmed that Thomas’s story in the film will be told in a “modern and unexpected way”. Marc Forster even came out and said that Thomas was a favourite character in storybooks growing up. In terms of how the plot will exactly, I believe that the story will be set in today’s world where electric engines have taken over the railway system. The Fat Controller is also struggling to find more coal supply and spare parts for the engines on the north western railway and has to make a difficult decision on what the future will look like for his steam team. Other characters like Diesel, Cranky, Bertie, Harold, Annie and Clarabel, the troublesome trucks and potentially a new electric engine who acts as a threat to the steam engines and Diesel are also quite likely to appear as well. According to one source that the movie was originally set for a 2022 release but has been delayed ( most likely due to the pandemic ) other websites are now suggesting that the movie would be released sometime in 2024. We should literally expect Mattel to officially announce more details about the project when Barbie comes out in a few weeks.
@@josetapia9582 The Thomas Movie isn't the next movie after The Barbie Movie, so we'll have to wait maybe 2-3 years to get some details, possibly 6-7 years to get a trailer & probably 9-10 years to see the film, but I could be wrong!
I am a bit worried about the Barbie movie to be honest. It sounds good, but I feel like I smell woke. I might just be being cynical though. I hope it’s good.
For me, I kinda want to see the father-son-conflict from the original cancelled movie show its head. Of course, part of me also wants it to also be about a Dystopian Sodor (where the engines are all still somehow intact) that's been rediscovered by someone and finds the books the engines of Sodor were based on, thus trying to raise money to restore the Sodor Railways to their former glories. There is also a part of me that wants it to be a Biography using 'The Thomas the Tank Engine Man' and other biographical sources to recreate the moments leading up to the creation of the books, the subsequent success of the books, and the stresses that came with the success. Granted, no one really knows what this Thomas Movie is about, and seeing some of the speculation online of what the movie is about alongside interviews from Mattel themselves, chances are it's going to be another Magic Railroad (I love Magic Railroad to death, but do acknowledge how it brought the series down).
That right there is wishful thinking. Mattel is a company that solely focuses on toy manufacturing. TV Shows and Movies are basically advertising their products. Mattel wouldn't have enough of a budget for so many A-List Celebrities to join the cast unless they were willing to work for figurative peanuts. Compare that to The Walt Disney Company. The Walt Disney Company has been around longer than Mattel and has focused on Toy Manufacturing since its inception whilst The Walt Disney Company has focused on animation and character creation (I'm not trying to say that Disney isn't trying to advertise; they are, but their advertising is more for the animation industry rather than the toy industry). This means that The Walt Disney Company could cast an All Star Crew for a movie, should they so desire. Plus, unless there was incredibly high demand for it, no one really wants another Magic Railroad. It's a 20 year old movie that really flopped hard. I'm personally content with just getting the P.T. Boomer stuff as a bonus feature for the Blu-Ray release. Being realistic, the stars you've listed probably wouldn't even be interested in working on Thomas. Owen Wilson probably tired himself out voicing McQueen over the course of a decade and a half (and is probably tired of voicing anthropomorphic vehicles as a result). Tom Holland has other roles keeping him occupied. And I'm almost positive that none of the other stars would even show a hint of interest in voicing for Thomas unless they so desired. My one hope for this movie is that at the very least, one of Ringo's songs would be used for the movie (as a callback to him being one of the first big names to be a part of Thomas). That's far more realistic than cramming a ton of A-List Stars into something that they would probably be hesitant about. Lastly, when I said, "Another Magic Railroad", I didn't mean it literally. I actually meant that it was gonna flop at the box offices because no one at Mattel really understands Thomas, unless they actually hire a team on for the movie that really understands Thoma). I firmly think that one of my ideas are far more plausible. Because do you think Mattel would want to revisit a movie idea that flopped hard and try to fix it when there's nothing to fix? I don't think so. And plus, Sony owns the rights to the movie and I don't think either of them want to even think about touching that movie. Unless it's for a celebration or an anniversary release, Magic Railroad is staying locked away in the vault.
@@dylanlyles9453don’t take him seriously. I personally think it’s a grand idea. And it could be a double redemption for Thomas and friends and the magic railroad.
Well if Mattel did want Thomas The Tank Engine to have a proper theatrical movie, then probably the movie will probably have to be about how Sodor was born and how the railways were built, and how the engines were born, that would be a great Thomas The Tank Engine theatrical movie to see, how The Island Of Sodor was born and how it became famous in The Railway Series.
Maybe it will be a reboot to Thomas and the magic railroad where instead of just a few characters like Henry and Toby, there will be more characters like Oliver, toad, duck,Edward,Emily,Donald and doglas, diesel,Mavis and bill and Ben. And some special appearances like Murdoch, neville and molley
If i were making a Thomas & Friends movie, i'd pull straight from the source materiel of Christopher and adapt Book 35# *"Thomas & The Great Railway Show".* Having Thomas leave Sodor for the National Railway Museum in York and interact with all the famous faces there would be perfect for kids and adults alike to enjoy as they're all real world places & engines we as fans and enthusiasts have passionate connections to. Plus it'd help be more of a crowd drawer promoting the National Railway Museum to today's generation of kids just like it did for us adults now back when the book first came out.... a beautiful circle of life.
I’m thinking of Thomas’s design of the Strasburg Thomas model, look don’t kill me but I’m thinking of Stardust Pictures making the faces either CGI or classic but I prefer classic for now but I really have hope for this movie and I want it to be good to get a sequel.
Knowing Mattel, they'd likely get celebrity voices for the characters, so my dream cast for the Thomas movie would be: - Tom Holland as Thomas - Karen Gillan as Emily - Roman Griffin Davis as Percy - Jim Broadbent as Edward - Latitia Wright as Nia - Asa Butterfield as Henry - Robert Pattinson as James - Kate Winslet as Rebecca - Daniel Craig as Toby - Hugh Jackman as Gordon - Andy Serkis as Diesel - Idris Elba as Arry and Bert - Alex Kingston as Mavis - Vanessa Hudgens as Rosie Just for some examples of the characters I believe they'd include. Though ideally, I'd want them to bring back the cast of the original series.
Something I would love to see. Is a montage of the railway being built. And scenes like disappear into the background I would kill to see that. But then again. It is mattel so that prob won't happen
Even though I have written a feature film script for a film that's non-Thomas related (I wrote it back in 2011 or so, long before I worked for TV. Don't worry, I am adapting it for audiobook), I don't know what I would set the storyline for a Thomas movie be on. Heck, I'm making my slow WIP adaption of the book Branch Line Engines to feel like a feature film, but that's as close to a Thomas movie you'll get from me.
Honestly, after I heard Mattel was planning to make Hot Wheels of all things cinematic and gritty, I have little to no hope for this movie. It’s clear they have no idea how to properly use honor the source material (which is a shame considering how great the Brenner Era was). Also doesn’t help all we’ve gotten from Mattel is a “Yep, the movie’s happening all right!” and nothing else.
That’s because they’re making Barbie and Polly Pocket first, of course there would be no updates. And Thomas doesn’t need action, it can just be slice of life.
Maybe the movie could be a biopic type film, about Thomas creator Wilbert Awdry. How he created the Thomas stories while his son Christopher was sick with the measles, how he managed to get the books published, the troubles he had to face while making the books, the failed TV adaptations before Britt Allcroft came along, his growing dissatisfaction with the show as it continued and the legacy he left behind after he died.
That would be more honorable than what they did giving him a credit in TATMR, that’s for sure. I mean, it was nice of them to think of him, but it’s insulting, considering what he wanted the franchise not to be.
@@dylanlyles9453 I think that would be cool if they can make it work. I personally don’t know how they can, but the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity.
Personally, I think this is Thomas' last chance. I always loved Thomas, and I always will, but with All Engines Go, right now, it feels like Thomas is either on life support or is at death's door. By the way, I really do like your suggestions for this movie. Also, I think this movie should also be a final goodbye to Thomas and Friends. I grew up with Thomas, and I do love him, but I think this movie should be a final salute to everyone who made this amazing franchise, including Wilbert Awdry, Britt Allcroft, and David Mitton. But we will have to wait and see what happens. This movie has the potential to either be an amazing grand finale for Thomas and Friends or another Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
It is the same for me... I would actually want them to look back at the cancelled movie and continue with it, it saves time thinking of ideas and they have a base because of the fans ideas on RUclips
I'm just glad that another movie is coming. As a story creator, I can say that I have made multilevel rough drafts for this fan base and are currently writing a book based on my characters in this universe. And I would like to see this movie be half animated because I am a animation nerd.
Here's what I would want from a new Thomas movie: Make it an origin story for Sir Topam Hatt, Sodor and Thomas. Incorporate story elements from the early Railway Series books, combined with telling how Sodor came to be such a popular tourist destination. Have the musical score infused with classic Thomas songs (akin to what the Mario movie recently did), make it wholesome and whimsical with a dash of humor and stakes like the Paddington films and the upcoming Wonka, and VIOLA, you got yourself the perfect Thomas movie that can unite generations of fans and appeal to a new generation. Oh, and if she is alive or available during filming, have Britt Alcroft make a cameo. That would be a movement that every fan of Thomas would love in a similar fashion that Kevin Eastman made a cameo in TMNT: Out of the Shadows, or Charles Martinet's cameo in TSMBM or even Jodi Benson's cameo in the live-action Little Mermaid.
Fun Fact: Did you know that nitrogen studios went to tallylln railway to take measurements of the real-life bases of the engines during the making of blue mountain mystery.
If this movie becomes a hit I think the next step could be a tv show in the canon and style of the movie that goes though the entire Railway series from book 1 to 42 and each episode Fokus on one book and have the movie be the finally. Like a prequel show
That’s a great idea, only I prefer it to be 1 to 26. Really no offense to him, 27 through 42 had some really great stories, but I don’t really like the last couple. that’s just me though.
I'd like to hope Mattel does the right thing But they've got a lot of convincing to do to get me onboard If it's good, it's good If it's bad, I won't be surprised
Those are my thoughts exactly. I’m not confident in this thing. You just managed to phrase it a lot better than I could. I’ll be happy if it’s good, but I’m not banking on it.
They can’t do the models bc they will go bankrupt then a crappy reboot that’s worst but if they do it in the movie it would feel so nostalgia to older fans of the show but I hope it ain’t all engines go cuz that sucks and bro like we better get a better movie instead of getting a goofy looking movie and one thing I want Edward Toby and every character or some of them…………………………also if they mess it up it’s over Fr over they lose money fans and almost everything
@@Q-uited Matel definitely doesn’t have my respect, I only keep coming back because I love the series. Also, they could probably round up the old models. They could probably ask the collectors permission to use them one last time. If they have to build them from scratch, then, yes, that would be a lot of money. Matel is huge, though, you know how much money they make off of things like Barbie? They have money.
Considering this will probably be the last proper Thomas movie we will ever get, please PLEASE Mattel for once give us some good content of our favorite little tank engines and his friends
I actually didn't know that this movie was still in the works. Those are actually some good reminders of what the movie should have or be about, the people making this movie better watch this video to make sure they get everything about Thomas the tank engine right. Might I also suggest the Unlucky Tug and you as Thomas consultants. You two have most of the Thomas knowledge a fan could have, in my opinion.
Here's my personal idea for a Thomas movie. I'm gonna title it "The Island of Sodor" and the plot would be this: The island of Sodor is abuzz with excitement as it is chosen to host the prestigious Great Railway Rally, an international event celebrating the history and significance of railways around the world. However, the joyous occasion is marred by a series of mysterious accidents and the sudden disappearance of the drivers and firemen who operate the engines. As the engines strive to prepare for the rally, they find their progress hindered by these unexplained disruptions. To save their home and the Great Railway Rally, Thomas and his friends form a detective-like team, aided by a young boy named Christopher (named after Christopher Awdry, obviously) who is autistic and passionate about railways. He'll also serve as the audience surrogate. Together, they embark on an exhilarating adventure, following cryptic clues and hidden messages left behind by the missing drivers and firemen. As the engines delve deeper into the investigation, they uncover a sinister plot orchestrated by a former friend of Sir Topham Hatt, their beloved railway manager. This vengeful adversary not only seeks to sabotage the rally but also cunningly places blame on Sir Topham Hatt himself, endangering the future of the railway. This movie would explore themes of friendship, loyalty, perseverance, and the power of community. As Thomas and his friends confront their own doubts and insecurities, they learn to rely on one another and rediscover the true meaning of teamwork and trust. Oh, and Ringo Starr would come back to narrate the film, as a touch of nostalgia for older fans.
Another hurdle for this could be budget…. Making a live action Thomas would be insanely expensive… plus with Mattel in the gutter with how they manage Thomas yes it could take a while really long actually
That would be cool is they bring back model series or RWS characters in this movie, like BoCo, Stepney, or Billy, Hank, or maybe even Duke back in this movie. Then it would Truly be the best.
Man that would be cool and imagine they did it with models but with voices and the cgi faces from season 19 to 24 the cgi faces the cgi voice actors then after that it’s cgi again and we actually got a good movie but if not I’m going back to season 1 and rewatch it /edit just like they did in magic railroad
Here's what I thought this future movie might have. It's set in the 1960's, parts of British Railways in Britain were shut down by Dr Beeching, but the North Western railway on the Island of Sodor is not under threat because it wasn't nationalised much to the engines' and the Fat Controller's relief. Everything goes well for the railway until their work was sabotaged deliberately by Beeching's assistant who is the main villain so that the whole rail company would shut down forever, so it's up to our number 1 engine to save his railway, his home and his friends before it's too late. It would be a brilliant story idea.
I was worried about going into this video as I was thinking you’d be relating “The Adventures of Thomas” to the new movie but THANK GOD you didn’t. Really enjoyed this! ❤
My idea for a Thomas movie is a movie, or movie series, about the history of the NWR, from the first days of the S&M, to the unveiling of Wilbert Awdry's statue in Tidmouth Station.
6:18 another person that could also counsault Mattel and help out with the movie would be the Nicholas Goodrich (TheUnluckyTug) since he has came up with his Own take of BWBA which was more better then Mattel since not only does it fix some problems what BWBA had but also was more realistic.
@@josetapia9582 there was this guy call James Goodrich, who was kind of a celebrated neurosurgeon. Apparently he was well known for how he performed complicated procedures, like separating conjoined twins and whatnot. Apparently, he was also well respected around the world. I knew him because I have a complicated condition and he had been following my case since I was a baby. He died in the very beginning of the pandemic. I just thought it was kind of cool that Nick shared a last name with him.
Visiting Actual Railways Is Something Really Important If You Want To Create Your Own World With Trains, I've Been To North Conway, Strasburg, And Steamtown. But There Are Other Railways I Want To Visit Too That Are Not In The US, Like The Severn Valley Railway. Since I Won't Be Able To Travel To The UK In The Next Couple Of Years I Still Look At Pictures Of The Place, What Engines Are Operating And Overall Research On Everything, And That's What I Find Lacking, It Isn't That Hard To Research By Looking Through A City Or Country Or Movie Or Anything, As Long As You Pay Attention Closely To It.
If they do create a Thomas the tank engine movie, I would love it to be similar to the original concept of the story taking place during World War II and perhaps similar to another story by another Contant creator telling us that Wilbert Audrey once visited before. Then, during the World War II era his son was sent to Sodor by accident in a little rowboat. now it’s up to Thomas the last e2 tank engine to help him find his way home to his family and brave the battle-frontier to reunite Christofer with his family and put sodor on the map for its railway’s bravery kindness hard work and determination to help one and all in need no matter how big the job is no matter what the engine’s size and class is. That even if you’re small you can do big things if you give it your best and believe in yourself
They should make a cgi movie with Stepney as the main character. You know the person who voices Scoop in the animated Bob the Builder, He could voice cgi Stepney.
Knowing Hollywood, it's probably going to be about [insert popular celebrity here] being isekai'd into Sodor. While the Sonic movie is fine in a vacuum, I didn't like how it had to shove Sonic into a mundane road trip plot instead of letting the franchise-specific elements carry the film. Also, funny that you showed footage of the Talyllyn Railway while talking about doing on-site research, because apparently Nitrogen went there to measure the engines while making Blue Mountain Mystery.
What I'd like to see is something that focuses on the first 11 engines + Emily, the SCC twins, Stepney, Daisy, BoCo, Mavis, the narrow gauge engines and non-rail vehicles. A love letter to the RWS and classic series.
This could be a good story: The setting could be in the modern world during the time steam was phased out. We could have Thomas be in like a rusty and inoperable state after being left behind and put out of service. The plot could be having Thomas and his friends being restored back into working order and reuniting to work together to cope in the modern world.
I Have To Say That That Doesn’t Look Bad, Maybe In Your Opinion Of The New Thomas Movie Of New Modern Electric Locomotives And Thomas Being In A Rusty And Dusty Companion After Being Put Out Of Service, And I’d Like To See a Pre-teen Aged Boy Helping Thomas To Get His Friends Back In Running Order.
2:07 That’s what everyone said about AEG…and we’re still here as a fandom… So saying that is probably a bit too far lol I doubt Mattel is gonna make a cool Thomas movie since the franchise is more marketed towards children (I mean it always was but you know what I mean)
This has been why Thomas was absent for being in theaters, because the Franchise sticks with special DVDs instead of being theater releases worldwide, and the one thing that worries me was the marketing that the toys are being shrunk from being lack of stores, the casting was very complicated like the Mario movie, and last one, the live action design better be more cartoony like the model series or CGI, and not the ugly design sonic the hedgehog had in 2019 But I'm also hoping if barbie Becomes a success, when Mattel greenlits the projects
@@imrandarr1094 After reading your comment, i went to the Mattel website where they listed "New Releases and Coming Soon" and...holy crap, you're right!
I would like to see the Thomas movie be canon to the original series just like The Doctor Who TV movie back in 1996. But If I was going to choose a writer to write the movie, I would want a writer who is familiar to Thomas, and I would choose Andrew Brenner or Michael White. I think those two know Thomas as a character. I would aim the movie for order audiences who watched the original series of Thomas and Friends.
Okay 1st of I want to say that I do agree that Michael White should definitely be 1 of the people to give some ideas and help with the movie. And I was thinking that Christopher Awdry himself could also be a part of the movie or maybe him alongside Michael White could team up together if it's possible. Also for the engine of Sodor I think they should look just like their TVS selves with their rivets and handrails attached but with a few more realistic details, I've been looking at the Thomas & Friends wikia for the last couple of days and have been checking out several images and pictures of the engines RWS counterparts, their TVS models and recent CGI models and thought that what if with some alterations here and there they could look a little more like real life engines.
All I would want is for this to revive the CGI series, Brenner-style. I don’t think it’ll be quite like Magic Railroad since it’s not gonna be the same folks involved and Shining Time is a distant memory
I was hoping they would do a Thomas and friends multiverse movie where Cgi Thomas meets Magic railroad Thomas and classic series Thomas but now I'm thinking Thomas' comeback to the big screen shouldn't be something crazy like this. So they should make a movie set in the classic series universe and make it what made Thomas so special in the first place. And hopefully if it goes well after a few movies then they could do a multiverse movie.
The multiverse idea is a fun one but it should be restricted to just fan projects, introducing it officially into the actual show that's supposed to be about railway life is like introducing magic to it and we all know how that turned out. Also model and CGI are the same universe
@@Kukaak Your last part of the sentence just made me remember why an official theatrical Thomas multiverse movie can't be made some people in the fandom have different interpretations of what is it's own universe I think Classic series, Tatmr and hit model series are 3 different universes but some people will say they are all 1 universe. So if some people don't agree if the movie says Classic series and Tatmr are the same universe but other people agree then it's going to be a huge fight on the internet.
@@nateswoodentrainstudios3806 Canonically all of the show (except TATMR but even that's uncertain) is one timeline. It's already been confirmed by several crewmembers yet people still try to argue they're not (to clarify I'm talking about those who insist this is actually canon, not those who just make it their personal headcanon), a multiverse movie wouldn't change much because some people would still close their eyes and pretend otherwise
What I want the most from this new movie, for it to treat the franchise with respect and maturity and get the characters right. I'm not necessarily asking for a dark and gritty story, I just want it to treat series and it's characters with respect, honor, and dignity.
I really Do hope we get a movie with the plot based around Toby. He never really got a place to shine and still sticks in the main cast. I think we should get a before Sodor Kinda thing with like Toby working on his Old Railway. Maybe we could see the return of Molly sense they both technically worked on the same railway kinda.
I'm not sure what the new Thomas movie would be about but hopefully that it has Diesel 10 planning to take over Sodor with diesel domination and back to his evil character with more seriousness, malevolent, darker, pure evil and irredeemable added to it and Thomas has to stop him and the other devious diesels once and for all. Just a thought.
Is it gonna be in the same universe ? Or are we making ANOTHER Thomas canon ? I hope this is gonna be like the sonic movie, a wake up call for the people in charge to start giving us good content again.
I think there should be a new crossover movie of Chuggington and The Classic Series and that would give the opportunity for the models from the CS to appear in a Season 7 of Chuggington.
If I were to write a Thomas movie, I would prefer not to give it a three-act structure, but rather a series a vignettes that tie in to a certain theme.
Is it gonna be a CGI or a AEG Thomas movie? I mean the Tweet that showed up multiple times we're from 2020, so it could also be that they meant a AEG movie too. I doubt it will be CGi.
I mean, if this thing gets made, I'm expecting it'll be a movie the fans will love to death but the rest of the world will be mostly indifferent to. It'll be like the Tom and Jerry movie that came out 2 years ago. Fans liked it back then, but no one really cares these days. The problem is, with the possibly exception of that Dora The Explorer movie that came out recently, movies based on kids franchises like these don't really do well. Count in the fact that it's been in production for 3 years and there's been almost no word about it... This is just me talking, and I get that it's all for fun, but I'd say wait until proper info comes out (casting and set photos and such) before making any assumptions. When that kind of stuff starts coming out, at least then you'll know something is actually happening. It's like that WWII movie that was supposedly getting made. Fans speculated to no end about that end. Years passed, no info came out, and eventually fans accepted it was cancelled.
If they end up getting celebrities to voice the characters for this (should it actually come out) they should 100% get Richard Ayoade from IT Crowd to voice James
you know...I would like this movie to have 5 plots that sometimes will be referenced now and again and the plots are... plot 1:thomas heping repare vicarstown after a storm. plot 2:duck and diesel finishing there rivary and becomeing friends. plot 3:toby becomeing a part of ulfstead castle. plot 4:boco returning and working with Marion. and plot 5:bluebell(in a blue colour) visiting sodor and percy showing him around. and while all of this is happening a Group of railway inspctors are also visiting the Island and if your Wondering what I'll call the movie that would proabaly be something like "the greatest railway"
"A distant nephew-in-law of Sir Stephen Topham Hatt is stuck in a dead-in transit job in San Francisco while trying to move up and support his growing family. At the right time, Uncle Stephen offers him the job of the lifetime to come and work for him on the Northwestern Railway. As amazing as Sodor is, the railway is in peril due to several severe mishaps that transpire during his visit. It's up to our hero to team up with Thomas and the other engines to save Sodor." At least that's my "Savin Sodor" idea. Make it grounded in reality and maybe even throw in a couple of the old model series stories.
Here’s my pitch: Thomas and the war on cars (working title) The island of sodor finds itself covered with highways as more people choose cars over trains. The fat controller and all the other British railway officers scramble to come up with a new exciting train service to win back the public.
I know that this sounds completely random but I was thinking that perhaps if Annie and Clarabel were to appear in this movie then how about they were made to look like the models that Rev.W.Awdry had made them for his Ffarquhar model railway layout?. And maybe have them painted in their new brown livery from season 5, TATMRR up to season 12. Any thoughts or opinions about that?
The list to make a good Thomas The Tank Engine movie
1. Make it about trains
2. Have it in the style of the Paddington movie
3. Get inspired by real-life heritage railways
4. Treat Thomas and his friends as actual engines and not toys
5. Have at least one person who understands Thomas as a consultant in the creative process

I really hope it's an ensemble film, and that it's not a Thomas movie, but a Thomas & FRIENDS movie. I want all the main characters to have some time in the spotlight
An excellent point
the books were an ensemble, so why not.
The only Thomas movie that pulls off the main ensemble well, in my opinion, is Hero of the Rails... Even though Toby only says one word.
If a Thomas and friends movie happens they should have everyone from the show railway series and others like
Timothy the ghost train
Alfred 94862
Thirteen
Sixteen
Pup and Emma
For example
Even the CGI Brenner era respects Thomas.
Same here. The franchise is pretty much already dead.

Under mattel? Don't make me laugh. Not going to happen pal, mattel is under the spell of the diversity fairies.

Mattel: Thomas is a TOY TRAIN who comes to life...
The entire public/Fandom:🤬🤬🤣🤣🤣
I think Marc Forster directing and producing could tell us that we may see a Christopher Robin-eqsue film. Now, that isn't really a bad thing and would suit Thomas well, being a beloved children's classic.
I will agree with you that Paddington's tone would be a great fit for a Thomas adaption, too.
Apart from different tones that used to be part of Thomas and full on villains/antagonists.
Alternatively, Marc Forster could give us a wild, messy hunk of shit loaded to the brim with shaky-cam, Daniel Craig pouting, and a strangely ahead-of-it’s-time plot revolving around the theft of drinking water in a third-world country
Yes I *am* still pissed on how badly Quantum of Solace turned out, how could you tell?
What if it's set in modern day?
Regarding the music, just imagine how amazing it would be if they weaved in all those classic Thomas songs into the film's score, just like the Mario Movie did.
But there's a good chance they might used licensed songs. (Movies do that a lot nowadays.) So maybe have those songs be hits from the 1930s or something.
@@Trainboy452 Like what?
We already have that with the adventure begins...
It shouldnt be a prequel
Any Thomas movie has to have its fandom creators involved in its creative process.
No excuses
The “modern and unexpected way” quote fills me with dread, feels like it's going to be a disgusting and racist woke movie.
I like to imagine that the electric engines personality would be similar to electra from starlight express with a mix of greaseballs

It's all about the toys
@@LeScarletSinger2that’s too harsh. I think this idea is good. And maybe it could work. But like everyone is saying we can only wait and hope.

Knowing Mattel, they'd likely get celebrity voices for the characters, so my dream cast for the Thomas movie would be:
- Tom Holland as Thomas
- Karen Gillan as Emily
- Roman Griffin Davis as Percy
- Jim Broadbent as Edward
- Latitia Wright as Nia
- Asa Butterfield as Henry
- Robert Pattinson as James
- Kate Winslet as Rebecca
- Daniel Craig as Toby
- Hugh Jackman as Gordon
- Andy Serkis as Diesel
- Idris Elba as Arry and Bert
- Alex Kingston as Mavis
- Vanessa Hudgens as Rosie
Just for some examples of the characters I believe they'd include.
Though ideally, I'd want them to bring back the cast of the original series.
One good casting idea:
- Vanessa Hudgens as Rosie I'd be down for that.
This film is Thomas's last hope
You have me worried about the toy train element....😨
Something I would love to see. Is a montage of the railway being built. And scenes like disappear into the background I would kill to see that. But then again. It is mattel so that prob won't happen
I hope that Mattel will make the Thomas and friends designs just like they’re real life counter parts more realistic.
Oh, what do you know? It's Michael White himself!
honestly, many fans would be happy with just that
I wish the old Thomas was there
Honestly, after I heard Mattel was planning to make Hot Wheels of all things cinematic and gritty, I have little to no hope for this movie.
@@merlinandmurdoch7837since this is a cinematic movie i think it should
Maybe the movie could be a biopic type film, about Thomas creator Wilbert Awdry.
Maybe just a boy running away to Sodor where he meets Thomas because….daddy issues.
I'd like to hope Mattel does the right thing
But they've got a lot of convincing to do to get me onboard
If it's good, it's good
If it's bad, I won't be surprised
I'm gonna title it "The Island of Sodor" and the plot would be this:
The island of Sodor is abuzz with excitement as it is chosen to host the prestigious Great Railway Rally, an international event celebrating the history and significance of railways around the world.
Honestly, it sounds like a pretty strong plot, something both children and adults could enjoy
@@gacd2104 Why, thank you! That's nice to hear!
Another hurdle for this could be budget…. Making a live action Thomas would be insanely expensive… plus with Mattel in the gutter with how they manage Thomas yes it could take a while really long actually
As long as Henry and Edward are main characters again, I’ll be fine with it ^^
That would be cool is they bring back model series or RWS characters in this movie, like BoCo, Stepney, or Billy, Hank, or maybe even Duke back in this movie.
Yes! Something like the fic ‘The Island’s Swansong’, but with a better (more constructive?) ending!
same with cars the went to the real route 66 and took inspiration from it for the movie
That’s his last name? Wow. I wonder if he knows that he shares it with one of the most famous neurosurgeons.
@@selinapersaud7629 what do you mean?
I hope Mattel make a movie about the lifestyle in Sodor with the engines and sudrian people
Something I would like to see is something involving BR trying to modernize Sodor, and the Engines and Sir Topham Hatt have to try and stop it.
Its too British and would insult the American fans unfortunately
All these work for me. I'd also say keep the characters in character. I just hope it'll be worth the wait.
I want a movie about someone like a Gordon or Edward backstory.
that would be awesome!
They should make a cgi movie with Stepney as the main character. You know the person who voices Scoop in the animated Bob the Builder, He could voice cgi Stepney.
Agree
I really hope they make this Thomas movie and do good
Knowing Hollywood, it's probably going to be about [insert popular celebrity here] being isekai'd into Sodor.
I hope the film doesn't involve a child who loves playing with his thomas toys who then gets transported into the thomas world
Fun fact the illustrators of Thomas and friends books( the mid books) went to heritage railways
If they go for the World War 2 Thomas movie, have the minions be the nazis
As a longtime Thomas fan, I hope this is very good.
What I'd like to see is something that focuses on the first 11 engines + Emily, the SCC twins, Stepney, Daisy, BoCo, Mavis, the narrow gauge engines and non-rail vehicles. A love letter to the RWS and classic series.
I hope this movie will be like the Mario movie in the sense that it makes more money than the original one and brings new interest to the franchise.
That’s what us fans want, but Mattel wants from a Thomas movie is for now a mystery
This could be a good story:
The setting could be in the modern world during the time steam was phased out.
2:07
That’s what everyone said about AEG…and we’re still here as a fandom…
So saying that is probably a bit too far lol
I doubt Mattel is gonna make a cool Thomas movie since the franchise is more marketed towards children (I mean it always was but you know what I mean)
I have a feeling it'll be released for the 80th anniversary.
It’s set to be released next year according to Wikipedia.
@imrandarr1094 I would love this to happen but I doubt it, there would be a lot more info on it if it was a year away.
This has been why Thomas was absent for being in theaters, because the Franchise sticks with special DVDs instead of being theater releases worldwide, and the one thing that worries me was the marketing that the toys are being shrunk from being lack of stores, the casting was very complicated like the Mario movie, and last one, the live action design better be more cartoony like the model series or CGI, and not the ugly design sonic the hedgehog had in 2019
But I'm also hoping if barbie Becomes a success, when Mattel greenlits the projects
Apparently the film has already been greenlit. According to Wikipedia, the film is now in pre-production.
Yeah, no one cares about Shining Time anymore.
@@Kukaak Your last part of the sentence just made me remember why an official theatrical Thomas multiverse movie can't be made some people in the fandom have different interpretations of what is it's own universe
I think Classic series, Tatmr and hit model series are 3 different universes but some people will say they are all 1 universe.
I wonder how will they handle the engines themselves with the movie being live action, specifically the faces.
What I want the most from this new movie, for it to treat the franchise with respect and maturity and get the characters right. I'm not necessarily asking for a dark and gritty story, I just want it to treat series and it's characters with respect, honor, and dignity.
3:38 Tintin may be Belgian but his movie from 2011 is another perfect example of adapting a beloved franchise to cinema
The Tintin movie should have had a sequel, they kinda left the story half complete if you go by the original books and TV adaptation
YES PLEASE I WANT THE MOVIE OF THE CONTINUATION OF THE ADVENTURE BEGINS WITH THE ENGINES ON STRIKE AND PERCY'S ARRIVAL AND OTHER STORIES
"Hello There." -Obi-Wan Kenobi, Utapau, 2005.
Thomas the tank engine: Future.
A alternate universe where Holographic faces connect to diffrent things on Sodor island.
I think that they should get a consultant for thomas they should be Christopher Audrey or Britt acrot.
Is it gonna be in the same universe ? Or are we making ANOTHER Thomas canon ?
I hope this is gonna be like the sonic movie, a wake up call for the people in charge to start giving us good content again.
I reckon it’s it’s own thing
@@merlinandmurdoch7837 sad face
I think there should be a new crossover movie of Chuggington and The Classic Series and that would give the opportunity for the models from the CS to appear in a Season 7 of Chuggington.
This will forever change thomas for the best if it's successful
Nothing is worse than where Thomas is now even if ends in a death to the franchise
I don't care what it is, I just want it to surprise me. I don't want fandom pandering or anything, even if it sucks at least it'll be interesting lol.
Well, Thomas is my favourite Train, and I think it would be Good to see it one more Time
JUST PLEASE NO MORE ALL ENGINES GO!!!!
Yes. That radioactive cowshit must be stopped in its tracks.
It’s a live action and CGI movie
@@merlinandmurdoch7837 Are you 100% sure or just speculating?
If I were to write a Thomas movie, I would prefer not to give it a three-act structure, but rather a series a vignettes that tie in to a certain theme.
I hope the new Thomas movie will be an adaptation of the greatest story in the franchise:
Thomas and the Stinky Cheese.
One thing I think that would be great, in the intro let ringo star narrate the introduction to Thomas.
Can you make a new video about this again 😅new updates about this new movie ?
you know...I would like this movie to have 5 plots that sometimes will be referenced now and again and the plots are...
plot 1:thomas heping repare vicarstown after a storm.
plot 2:duck and diesel finishing there rivary and becomeing friends.
plot 3:toby becomeing a part of ulfstead castle.
plot 4:boco returning and working with Marion.
and plot 5:bluebell(in a blue colour) visiting sodor and percy showing him around.
and while all of this is happening a Group of railway inspctors are also visiting the Island and if your Wondering what I'll call the movie that would proabaly be something like "the greatest railway"
Here’s my pitch: Thomas and the war on cars (working title)
The island of sodor finds itself covered with highways as more people choose cars over trains. The fat controller and all the other British railway officers scramble to come up with a new exciting train service to win back the public.
That is a good idea.
And raceist
You ever notice the father ted reference in Paddington 2
Wait what?!
@@ThomasTheorist when Paddington is naming people in prison he’s says someone is called farmer jack and tye person looks like father jack
I wonder what would’ve the WW2 Thomas movie even look like?
I would love to see enterprising engines work on the movie
