I just tried a different method to drain a K-Select model, which does not have a float in the external tank, and it did appear to work. I plugged in the machine with no water tank attached, and of course the "Add Water" light was shining. I then attached a half-full water reservoir and the machine proceeded to heat up the internal water reservoir. It did not appear to draw in any water from the external tank while heating up. Once the machine was finished heating the internal water, I raised and lowered the brew head handle and pressed the button for the largest cup size. I then immediately removed the external water reservoir and the machine continued the brewing cycle. Only a few ounces of water were dispensed, and I turned the machine off about 10 seconds after the water stopped dripping out. I don't know if the internal reservoir was completely emptied, but this is probably the best that I can do without a partial disassembly of the Keurig. I recently got a new K-Select machine, and I'll be storing this old machine as a "backup" coffeemaker. The old one does brew coffee, but will no longer pump any air through at the end of the cycle.
Thanks for saving me a repair bill or new coffee maker! I used a bullnose clip under the float magnet so I wouldn’t be burned. My machine is working great now! Thanks so much!!
Worked 2019. I shimmed my disc and I found that if you tilt it backward and forward while the hot water is “brewing out” that helped. Mine took a bit longer then his but it still worked. Thank You

What is it with me and finding first generation of stuff that works but is getting thrown away? Found one of these today found working 1st gen beats headphones that we’re getting Thrown away.
Well, I think if you can get the reusable pods that’s quite a good find! I don’t drink much coffee, so this was bought more as a fun teardown than a useful appliance.
@@RandomInsano2 I know because a few of my friends did the same exact method and a few days later after using it, the heating element went bad and the pump. They contacted Keurig and they were told that, that was not a good idea to begin with. So, I don't know...........this is what I have been told and I found a better way to remove 100% of the water.
@@RandomInsano2 sure I will send the link whenever the stupid RUclips will work. But I can assure you that that is not the best way to do it and you can damage those parts per Keurig

Nice workaround! I guess the software doesn’t do a water level check during a cycle.

Nice! I’m happy to hear another device is saved from the landfill. Smart work with the clip!

I’m glad it helped! What did you use to shim it?
RandomInsano2 Just a piece of folded cardboard I ripped of a box lol.
There’s thinking!
Yesss!! Ty! Ty!!!! Didnt want to dismantle
Welcome! Dismantling it is super hard!

I’m glad I could help! I’m beside myself from your praise. Thanks so much!
GREAT info but pls, in the future do not keep moving the vid camera around. I got nauseous. TY............GD info tho...
Smart way to empty it for storage.
THANK YOU ! This was annoying. Who makes a coffee machine you can’t drain? It still has water in it🙄☹️.
But it did drain one cup.
Welcome! I’m glad my video helped. :)
Nice tip. Eliminate splash by putting cup under machine.
Ever Dawn, now that’s thinking! 😅
lol, as a mother and grandmother it comes from a lot of years of cleaning up after others! :D
duh!
Buh?
@@RandomInsano2 duh! means that's a no brain solution
Thanks! It worked!!!
That’s great! I’m happy I could help. :)
My Keurig doesn't let any water out! I swear I didn't miss a step 😅
Nicole Berning Oh noes! I think you can double cheat it if you have a really strong magnet.
Best way by far!!
Thanks Carla!
Finally something that worked and didn’t even take long at all....thank you!
Cherry M.M You’re welcome! I’m happy I could help

Yeah, not a good idea! Not good for the pump or the heating element.
Heidi Martin why do you think that? I assumed the water is already there to be heated and it’s safe for the pump to draw in air.

I’m still a little sceptical so having the other way would definitely help me understand better.
Has anyone figured out how to clean inside the float chamber? Thx
I haven’t. I ended up taking it apart after I made this video. :(
didn't work on mine
It didn’t?! What did it do instead?
