Everyone's applauding the animation, which they should, but the dialogue is just so believable. It's like you cut 30 seconds from a 20 minute holiday special. Bravo!
“What a gruesome ghoul, and just around the corner we find her groom the hatbox ghost” The line at the beginning is a reference to the weeping bride which if I recall correctly is the animatronic figure that appears right before where the Hatbox ghost used to be in the rebound dark ride at the Disney parks known as “The haunted mansion” Though the Hat box ghost was planned to be a segment within the ride he was cut out early within the ride’s life span though as far as I can remember a couple years ago he was added back in do to fan demand

well he was there in 1969, but couldn't have been there longer than a few months. We do have photo and video evidence of the original hatbox ghost animatronic in the ride
This looks exactly like stop motion, like, you nailed the old stop motion look PERFECTLY. I hope you're proud of yourself because you have every right to be, this is incredible
God I mean obviously the animation is incredible but man I love that cheesy mid-1900s-educational-but-still-vaguely-entertaining-video-made-on-an-oddly-specific-subject-style writing
This animation is based on the work of Rankin-Bass, the company responsible for classic stop motion animated films like Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and Mad Monster Party which this particular animation takes inspiration from.
@@ap3productions81 Yeah it's original, Worthikids is very talented! The character of the Hatbox ghost is an animatronic from the Disney World/Disneyland ride The Haunted Mansion. He became a bit of a celebrity because he was supposed to be an original part of the ride with the character's head dissapearing and then reappearing inside of the hatbox he is holding, but early Imagineers weren't able to reliably make the effect convincing and cut him despite the fact he was a large part of advertising the attraction. This is why he is having trouble making his head appear in the box during this animation! He was brought back in 2015 when the effect was convincing enough to show off to the public and remains in the ride to this day.
I know, right?! This guy has some serious talent and a serious eye to recreative detail to make look THIS close to a legit stop-motion scene from Rankin/Bass.
Let's just take a moment to appreciate how good the sound effects are, in addition to the animation and dialogue. It adds a whole new level of believability to the 1960s-1970s animation feel.
Two things that really sell this for me: The janky way the hand moves at 0:12 (especially how it suddenly jumps onto the box to pat it) The fast frames where the head spins into place at 0:29 Those moments are just PERFECTLY Rankin Bass. It's awesome how you were able to recreate those details that probably weren't purposeful.
The animation is amazing but I also love the sound effects and music. Exactly the sorta sound queues Rankin Bass would've used for one of their Miser Brothers specials.
the first few seconds of this I was *convinced* it was from an obscure old 60's stop motion cartoon I'd never seen before, including the quality of the mixing sounding near perfect IMO. great work as always.
God, all of these details. The way panning left is a little jittery, the blurriness from the camera depth The little things really make this feel authentic, amazing
I love the Rankin Bass stop-motion look and I love that you did this all digitally! It reminded me of this Brian Eno quote: “Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided."
I can't truly express how much I actually love this. I'm just starting an animation degree and can only hope to achieve the kind of stuff seen here. I could watch this continuously for a long time, but just know this is great.
I love this animation so much!! It looks almost EXACTLY like Rankin Bass, and as a fan of the Disney parks, this is a great nod to the Hatbox Ghost's history!!
I like how he turned the beginning of the idea of the hatbox ghost into an animation. The history is the Hatbox Ghost on Disneys the haunted mansion ride was supposed to be there since day one but they just could not get the illusion proper. Nowadays he is on the rides! And it made me happy to see him!

What a beautiful marriage of tech, technique, and love for the artists that came before us.
If you look closely at the pop effect when he teleports his head, he mimicked cartoon effects from old stop motion movies like rudolf the rain deer
