What rules do you adhere to when making fries?

I actually rarely make them. Easier to buy. I don't like messing with the oil

Frozen fries or frozen tots are perfect in the air fryer. Even without coating with oil.

I had to share this with my brother who violated at least 3 of these rules. he'd just cut, fry once, declare it done. no soak, no salt, no double fry, and this last one isn't listed but he'd cut them really thin and small so they're done faster. I asked him "are we making French fries or hickory sticks"

I used bake them in the oven. I can't eat potatoes anymore. When I made steak fries I would after cutting them evenly with a slicer lay them out on a sheet pan and spray them with a plant sprayer evenly using pomice olive oil. Pomice olive oil besides being cheaper is neutral tasting. Cook them at at 350 ft for 35 minutes. Came out great.

I use frozen crinkle cuts, a deep fryer, and corn oil. Then salt each batch with kosher salt

Leave fries to the experts like ore Ida or your favorite fast food joint.

I honestly find it weird that there are people out there who don't have enough common sense to read directions. It's not rocket science to cook a French fry. God save us all.

Best "fries" are baked (air fried), not fried.
