The most epic scene in the first season, in my opinion... One of the things I love about this anime is the capacity it has to show us scenes that are epic without necessarily rellying on combat... Rundeus' contract as an Adventurer might actually surpass this scene, but they are maybe a tie in epicness.
The best part about Rudey's contract is that it only happened because of all of this.

Kei Kek he's a 'badass' only because everyone else sucked. I mean, thousands of people got send to another world and so you'd want to find and own shelter, ie a house. And not ONE of them ever wondered "hmm, wouldn't be nice if I can buy a home?"
Shiro's plan would have failed if any of these 'gamers' at the round table did some simple checking. Made worse by the fact that one of them are a trader/merchant master and owning an establishment is a crucial aspect for doing business. You'd think he'd check if he can own one right? Haha, nope.

SecondSein Having a 5 million gold is symbol of becoming the richest there. Do you think some other players could bought that thing even if they knew about it? No. Because they're lacking Golds. Even the 3 largest merchants had to become a team to sponsor this Villain. It was not enough, and so, they sell the burgers that has a great flavor, and the sales went up! And that's when he bought the building.
Besides, he doesn't even tell his plans to anyone. That's why he's unpredictable.
All the money was also from the adventurers of akihabara who bought the burgers. It was also from the three merchants, who tried to help shiroe without knowing what he'll do with it.
I really like how Isaac at first comes off as a jerk and bully but when it comes to it he steps and realizes what they have to do when he says they cant split Akihbara
What's important about controlling the Guild Building is that it would force a guild or individual to be dependent on getting the same services from the People of the Land/NPCs. Which would force them to either get along well with those people (along with less convenience) or else leave the city. The guild he banned was especially nasty and so had no choices left. Honestly, even if nothing was done they would've made the same laws among themselves anyway, Shiroe just sped things up because he realized that things could become dangerous and just didn't want any risks at all. After all, the laws in question boil down to "don't be a scumbag, oh and don't torment the NPCs." Not exactly something they weren't going to support with or without Shiroe.

What he did was give them a chance to retain their stature if he wanted he could have bought the chapel and controlled who lived or died or he could have made everyone obey him, but he didn’t
Well he could've bought the chapel to control who gets to live. And also the reason why he did it was to create the round table where the largest guilds create the laws together and keep them up.
He did eventually buy the chapel simply to prevent any enemy from purchasing it, which lead to the whole money-problems thing and his clever solution later on.
honestly all he does it threaten everyone, but he never actually does anything bad. he's at the borderline of being called anti-hero
Shiroe doesn't have much in terms of resources, but with his dominant intelligence he made the most powerful guilds his bitch.

SecondSein As I said to your other comments, a guild cannot buy that building, because it was too expensive. All the golds of akihabara was used to buy that building, and it's true. That's pretty stupid of them. But, shiroe had that idea and stood up for it. He has a high reputation when it comes to these aspects. Thats why hes the only guild master to join the round table, even if he only had 4 members, considering that all the guild masters of round table has an average members of 100. He gathered those resources from those dumb ones(as you said,and youre a little bit right on some point) thats why he is called a villain in glasses. He takes advantage on others weaknesses.
SecondSein yeah, that shit was ridiculously expensive and so even if you had enough money you're not gonna by that for shits and giggles, you either buy it and manipulate others, buy it and regret it because you're not doing anything, or decide to not by it, because you're not an ass who's gonna make the game even more toxic. Shirou got a lot of money and had an idea on how to use the building to do good.

@@cier5158 he doesn't need to use his own resources. He can just use the resources of the enemy country to take them down. Like how he'll probably make Westland Empire concede into opening for negotiations with him by leveraging on Nureha. So by technicality, he'd have avoided using any resources.

@@vanthursday Of course Shiroe is smarter than Ainz. Although Ainz is smart himself, Shiroe far outmatch Ainz. However, if they were to go 1v1 (both of their build is not for 1v1 btw) Ainz is absolutely superior.
But Shiroe can always respawn or make up a new world item. Basically they're both powerful in their own rights.

To be fair he is still human capable of making mistakes. But that doesn't deter the fact that he is a master tactician and spell caster in his own right, that's not to say that there are others who are up to his skill level, Shiroe just plays the Long Game better than anyone else.

Badass moment? NOPE. It hinges on the fact that EVERYONE is stupid enough to NEVER check if any of the buildings are purchasable which doesn't make sense because first, all of them are gamers and so there would be the elite gamers that would check every function and feature of their gaming world. Second, they would still need to fulfil their survival needs and one of them is to find shelter.

Sherlock Holmes of course but out of thousands of gamers that got send to the new world, there has to be a small few that understand that to assume the mechanics would remain the same would be foolish. That there would a small few that would experiment everything to see what's the same and what's not.
So why it took a person to notice that you can buy a group hall when there are groups of people in the town? None of them ever wondered to check the guild Hall thoroughly?
