@rexurtiser In Axel's dimension, Kyosuke(who used to be his teammate) came under the influence of aliens called the Einst, who turned him crazy. Also, in this universe, Excellen is dead. The Einst are the reason the Alt Eisen Nacht regenerates its arm and goes beastly. The Einst, incidentally, have also already appeared in the main timeline (episode 2)

This anime takes place in OG2, sequel to OG. The beginning of the game version, you fight another Kyosuke named Beowulf, who pilots a different Alteisen.
Now I understand why Axel was so obsessed with Kyosuke. ...Beowulf is batshit insane. I actually feel sorry for him - if the Einst hadn't gotten to him, he'd be normal and sane.

In OG he was a hot blooded serious idealistic guy but in A when he lost his memory he bacame a super aloof protagonist who's the opposite of serious (a jokester/playful kinda guy), and he always help other people out with their life/love problem. Like for example, he smashed a group of GM Sniper by himself so that Shiro Amada and Aina could made up.
Stlil hope a Beawolf plotline gets included in an OG game formally, since they pretty much adapted this version into the revised OGs timeline (the PS2 remake of the GBA games).

Though the music first plays in OGS' version of this scene, when Axel attacks Beowulf just before Shadow Mirror makes the jump at the end of scenario 3. Then OGG uses it one of the times Axel and Alfimi shows up, which would make it his theme just as much and probably a reference to theme's original use as the title music in SRW A.
Alteisen Nacht defeating the SRX is a more surprising thing than it being the same size as the super robot. I like this fight. Too bad it's non canon since Einst Kyosuke easily defeated Axel in the game from what I remember. Which is why he wanted a rematch so bad. 😱

@@AlteredProf interesting, guess initially it was meant to be portrayed that Kyosuke here became an unstoppable demon of destruction taking down the big hero mech of the first game confusing the audience greatly meanwhile Axel here in the game I assume barely escapes meanwhile in the anime they show that while a prolonged fight would probably lead to a similar outcome he was able to hold his own better
