- Discord is slowly rolling out the "Channels and Roles" Onboarding beta, also known as "Browse Channels". At first glance, this feature might not look like it does all that much, but after setting it up, it is a VERY powerful feature that will completely replace the need for reaction role channels inside discord! On another note, I'd be real' interested in a video about muted roles/permissions. Can't seem to figure it out on my own other than by using bots commands such as "/mute".

@Gehsture There are a lot of varying opinions on the internet about the best way to manage permissions, whether on channel side or server side,what go you think is the best way to do it
When they first join, they will only see the set channels, right? Will they eventually see every channel?
Is there a way to enable "show all channels" by default to all new members in discord, I noticed that when I create a channel and if this is not enabled the members won't see the new channels
is it possible for you to change the welcome screen rules after activating Onboarding? I can't...

you have to turn your server into a Community Server before it can be enabled i think

CAN SERVER USER GET BACK TO ONBOARDING SOMEHOW?? Like user options channel or such? Or do I need to create ONBOARDING and separate reaction roles channel in case person missed something???
They can click the "channels and roles" button at the top of the left side channel list to go back and select things
Can i make this with verify bot?
This isn't a verification system, this is a brand new feature from discord to let users select roles before actually being able to naviagate and message in the server
Cool feature yet so confusing to setup, hoping that Discord will fix it although i doubt
Yea the part about showing/hiding channels is what makes it really confusing I think - I don't get like it's necessary l, but suppose I can see the purpose of it. I've just always had the mindset of not including channels people won't care about or use, so I don't need to hide any of mine

See the keypad next to the 3 screen monitors put 1983 on the keypad for a secret the monitors will turn on and show something
Can I see what server questions new members pick when they join my server?
Discord does not show you this info, but if you are giving out roles through the questions ,you can just look at how many members have each role and that will give you a number

Make sure you enable the "Community" setting for your server in Server Settings > Enable Community
Can we set it up so they can’t change what they picked after?
you can't set it up where they can't change their selection afterwards no. The only thing you can do is limit them to select one answer, but they could always change that answer
Whenever i join a server there is a onboarding, and when i click the start onboarding, it doesnt do anything

Discord wont let me go back to the default channels section without first finishing my question and answers section. I cant do anything about it im stuck on that part lol
Got should be able to click back or something at the top to go back to the default channels part. If that doesn't work tho, once you complete the onboarding setup you can go back and edit them!
wish you went into detail about if free members can access the same channels as paid members depending on what was ticked in the onboarding setup
If any channels are locked behind a role, you wont be able to set them as default channels when setting up onboarding. You can only set channels that are viewable by @everyone as default channels

im having this issu e where after menbers join the questions dont show up in the channels and roles tab, says "there are no customization options yet", even after setting the same questions as pre and after sign up. any idea how to fix this?
If you go into onboarding died it sure you have questions setup? Are there any errors that show when in the onboarding edit screens? I know you have to have 5 open chatting channels so maybe it could be an issue of that disabling onboarding for you?
@@Gehsture all is working fine, only issue is after menbers join the questions disappear for them. I can still see them but other menbers cant, i decided to create a reaction role bot and im working with that for now

Yes! The feature isn't limited to a certain member requirement. If you don't have it currently, it's simply because it's still in a beta right now
I got the new beta but i can’t find the onboarding😢
This doesn’t work…. I’ve already tried to contact discord support and they won’t help. I’ve updated my discord and refreshed my page billions of times, and I know a lot of people are expiriencing this problem too.
What do you mean by it doesn't work? Like you don't have the feature, or something about the feature isn't working properly?

It only works on pc so it only shows up on pc but not on any other devices
Can you blacklist specific users from picking up reaction roles? (Carlbot can block a specific role from being able to auto set their own reaction roles but I don't see an equivalent feature here).
You cant with this feature no, and that's because this is an immediate popup a users gets before being able to access the server, so they wont have any roles at all when completing the onboarding.
Only thing you can do is limit each question to where users can only pick 1 option and not multiple
why do I have 5 options and not 3?
i have a wick bot verification setup so it kind of sucks for me, it makes me have 5 chattable channels when the member joins but i have that set to 0 in case of raids
A simple fix is create a 6 random channels that everyone can send message and use that for the onboarding requirements + the wick verification channel to satisfy all conditions.
Wick will give "main roles" to members who passes the verification right? edit the permission of that role then remove the permission to view channel on those 6 useless channels so members who verify thru wick won't be able see those channels anymore. Then put all automods feature heavily on those 6 channels in case of nuke/raids.
But say goodbye to lockdown feature hahaha because @everyone need to view channels, send and read message to at least 7channels to make onboarding work which contradicts wick lockdown system 😅
If i use this method do i need to disable mee6 bot from assigning roles ?
You can have mee6 setup to do it as well, but it will be irrelevant since users are claiming roles through onboarding already, and then can claim after in channels & roles tab
When someone asks where they can get roles how do I # the channels and roles section
You should just be able to hyperlink it just like any other text channel by typing # and then starting to type channels and roles. By the time you type channels you should see it auto populate

help, how do i join a server that has "Welcome! You must complete Onboarding to view this community."? i'm so confuseddd
