- A lot of gods in Smite have seen many nerfs and buffs over time, but only very few have seen as many as the most nerfed gods in SMITE. Some of them are hard to balance, others are broken releases and other just.. get nerfed. Today, we're taking a closer look at all of them.

As I'm gonna make more videos talking about the most buffed gods and other topics in the future, let me know if you like the format like this. Do you like this overview of all changes, would you rather have me go into more detail or just focus on the most important changes instead? Any constructive feedback is appreciated! :)
Might be interesting to see it per class/role, see how they were for their role as opposed to overall.
You could also do most buffed/nerfed/reworked items in Smite's history

Wait, so where does Guan Yu fall on this? Or was his reign of terror I've heard stories about from before Smite Season 1? I'd love to see a top 10 or so most broken releases, and also the most underwhelming releases (*cough, Hera, cough*).
Maybe at some point just talk about what preseason 1 looked like, cause I think I *technically* started around seaon 1 or 2, and then fell off for a year or so till bout halfway through season 3 before I started playing again.
Also "back in my day, Thor was our free Warrior, Hades was a Guardian who had branch of an Active item named after him, and Ao Kuang was still the fastest Noodle Dragon alive!"
I think Sun Wukong's Rekit and kit dump onto Hun Batz was before my time though... At least I can still say I'm not "That Old!" ... Yet! ... YEET!
I've heard horror stories about release Guan Yu and release Bellona. If they were really as ridiculous as everyone makes them out to be, I'm surprised they weren't on this list.
best one was still: "Cernunnos is over performing, better nerf khepri" xD
When cernunnos is overperforming so you get confused and nerf khepri again
They even nerfed Zhong kui from getting a skin
They buffed him and baka these coming patches where they unlock the ability to get skins. If only we could get a nerf to ymir, loki, neith, and aphro skins now lmao

good ol days, hearing arachne was on the enemy team and not being ready for a sudden pull to her into a cluster of spider eggs and her CC Web aoe which made running near impossible early without beads, she had a grab which healed her and her passive was equally as deadly if not more so, she was a jungler/rare solo, that made squishies shit themselves the moment you saw a web come out of the jungle lol

Well all I gotta say is Nerf Khepri
I remember how Khepri legitmaly got a nerf every single patch for ages. Every patch it was decrease in this and that and cooldowns and health and protection changes etc etc etc. Yet they let chu chulain and cernunnos and plenty of other gods run around for a long time without any changes, and when they finally did get nerfs they were pretty minimal and nothing even close to what Khepri got. I have never seen a gods life cycle be as absurd as poor Khepri.
Alex Mercier i think Cernnunos wasent too long. Plus no one plays him anymore. Well at least high ranked/competitive cause I don’t ever see him

If you would have included everything guan yu had to be on that list. He went from "I can win the game on my own" to people are mad at you if you pick him.
This vid completely showed how hi rez destroyed the game I once loved :/ nemesis, khepri, Susano ratatoskr were nerfed into the ground so much that since S4 I'm not playing this game anymore. Because skins were more important than clever balance changes

Certain matchups she's still performing well, she's just meh against current OP meta.
Solid video overall as always. I'd be interested to see a video about the various reworks gods have received since season 1. Gods like Arachne, Freya, and Sol come to mind. I've seen many of them being implemented, but I'm curious overall as to how those reworks really affected those gods and shifted their place in the meta. Or maybe you could do major item overhauls throughout the seasons. Either way, keep up the great work. Really enjoy your videos. They're both fun to watch and highly informative.
i miss old rata he was my main ... and that rework ... why would you change a characters kit if you still nerf sh*t out of em and deleting acons was just stupid. making a character that had many different play styles and high rewarding skill capped character to this ... hi-rez dont know what to do with high skill capped characters sometimes nerfs them too much and sometimes make them too much op but they really cant make them BALANCED

I thought Hades would've been there, I remember him being good in beta, still being a decent pick in season 1 and 2 (despite becoming overshadowed by others), then his reclassification came after which he started to grow weaker and weaker in meta. Can I at least ask if he got to top 10? Or was that outside factor that put him to weak place?
Also, I'm guessing Hel will show in most buffed video.
Hades got more buffs than nerfs no way he is here (unless you count changing his class as a nerf lol)
He didn't actually receive many nerfs overall, not even factoring in his tweaks. If we include the pre-season 1 nerfs it's a bit more, but still not quite top 10 I think
In terms of number of nerfs, this isn't true but in terms of the significance of nerfs, I believe Susano should be somewhere on this list as well. Comparing release

I am shocked Sylvanus wasn't on this list. For a long time, it felt like every patch threw in a Sylvanus nerf just for f***'s sake.

I thought sol was gonna be here. She's still strong but got the nerf bat a lot on almost her entire kit
The only nightmare I was not a part of was release Guan, so I can't say anything about it.
However, release Fenrir with his brutalize doing crit damage and killing mages level 1 with (with just the brutalize), pot, death's toll, damage buff and girdle was shocking.
We have Bellona who well, almost make me quit the game, release Rat with Golden Bow and everything was wtf.
But for me, the most op thing (aside from Guan since I don't know) was release nem. Imagine erlang, tankier, faster, hitting harder, stripping all the tank's protections and worst of all. If a Vulcan (or some mage with a very high damage ult) hit his earthshaker, HE would die and heal Nemesis. How fair is that? Dying for hitting your abilities.
It's wierd to see that about rat considering I remember he was absolutely broken right after his rework. I remember all the ps4 players were bitching that his rework was proven broken on pc and they released his rework on ps4 as well. Games were absolute hell against him because they made his flurry easier to hit yet it just sounds like he got nerfs in his rework lol

super interesting. i really thought bellona would be up there, her release was hands down the most frustrating thing smite has ever seen. and i didnt expect rat somehow.
To be fair, and as a khepri main. He really does have an aweful lot of potential brokeness to him, he puts off a shield for free, has a get out of jail free card with his ult that also cleanses and gives immunity to slows, damage mitigation and protection debuff, plus over 3 seconds on total c.c. so while hes not top tier meta support he seems fairly hard to balance and has performed fairly well in the spl's in the past.
How about placeholder abilities and passives from season 0? When I mention how old gods were people are genuinely surprised. Some of the early reworks too seem to surprise people on what the gods were back then.
Duke are going to keep an up to date record of changes now that you've compiled so much data? It could prove useful in the future no doubt, maybe even as a season ends/begins or certain milestones.

Nemesis gains a massive buff to her dash by letting you autos and abilities in between the dash without cancelling it and Duke calls it ‘a little bit of a buff’. Okay dokay then.
I was really expecting my former best boy Ravana to be in the list, but now that I think about it Hi rez just ripped him apart limb by limb in less patches
1 guardian in top nerfs and even that is a low damage one ... why am I not surprised that Tanks are fucking broken in Smite... and 4 assassins in the top nerfed ... ffs
Anyone miss Sun Wukong's knock-up? I swear that was the worst nerf for me, made the God so much less fun.

I know guan yu at release was a scary monster and his nerf was one of, if not the strongest single nerf ever done to a god that I can think of, but this was more based on amounts tho so I understand. But where you there for that duke?

Hey, DukeSloth, nice video. But one Point I would change. Maybe you should try to sum up the final changes and just list the patchdates. This way you would tell the importandt informations and everyone who wants to know every detail can stop the video and has an overvie of the dates.
There was a point in time where people always told me that rstatoakr was the shittiest god in the game. I didn't listen to them, i ignored them, i even got reported a few time for playing him (both wins and losses). I believed that ratatoskr was just finding his place in the world and needed some guidance to do so. Then one day, he got buffs and recognition he needed, and we both took to the skies, destroying any and all who stood in our way. The haters went silent, slowly plotting his downfall in the shadows. But soon, they will rise up to send ratatoskr back to the hellhole he fought valiantly to escape. Only this time, our hero wont be alone. This time, he'll have an army by his side.
But seriously though. Fuck everyone that shatted on me for playing rat and putting me down when i said he would get buffed, only to jump ship when he got reworked.
The god that I think never be nerfed is Loki, kkk 2 bufs

I miss the old Scarab’s Blessing. An Ultimate that gave one person increased power/speed and no threat of death while active, but most just used it a a revive tool and didn’t use its full power and then that power got taken away. I would’ve rather them remove the revive and replace it with protections or damage mitigation since the goal of the revive initially was to make sure the Ult didn’t go completely to waste because your target died.

I knew rat was #1 he was top tier when I started
Honestly I miss old rat even before when he was reworked and was god awful I still loved the old 2 then dashing through enemy's and I loved it now the new kit is honestly just so meh. A fucking cone shotgun stun a circle damage ability with some protection decreses and what feels like a faster but less useful medusa dash (besides dmg) and the ultimate is still cool the old kit had a lot more creativity and I loved just getting the stun acorn and then fucking stunning people and the rage type after they die to it was so good.
Also on a different god they just made Nox one of the worst gods to play against
rat was a bit broken with all his nuts but it was arguably the most fun god in the game since you could build him so many different ways and his playstyle was so fun aswell, i miss old rat :'(

This video was great, honestly considering how broken bellona was at release I expected her to be here, but whatev, great video though! Cant wait for the most balanced/buffed gods videos. Great format with an easy to follow content through the actual screen from patch notes. Great stuff.
I kinda wish they'd bring back rat having multiple acorns, I feel like they could definitely have an easier time balancing it with the modern meta
