- Some shots of the Euclid/GM TC-12 dozer, at the 2014 Canandaigua Pageant of Steam. This is about six minutes of the TEN HOURS of video I shot at this year's pageant. Leave a message if there is some aspect of the pageant that you are interested in, and I can probably post video of that activity or exhibit.
I saw one working when I was a kid. It was quite a sight to behold. And the sound of those Detroits is awesome.
It was disassembled into three pieces for transport. After the blade was loaded, the tractor was loaded onto two low beds, connecting pins were pulled and the two halves were loaded.
Hearing two Detroits harmonizing under load is best sound ever.
I used to operate machines with twin 6-71 engines... USN Mike 6 boats. No electricity, Hydraulic starters with accumulators to store energy for starting. Used as landing craft to take marines and equipment to the beaches in the early 1970's. USS TULARE LKA 112.
Thank you and all the others for your service👍.
wow what a machine back in its day and being a old guy I remember them and didn't see many but they were the best back then for sure.
the same as I drove White Freightliner tractors with the v 12 detroits and they were so powerful back in those years.
I have owned two 8240 Terex dozers with 8v71 Detroits. Other than the track frames being a weak link, they are a productive comfortable machine to operate. Definitely have a lot of push to them.
Good to finally see a good operator on u tube.
very very cool, surprisingly precise control for a machine of that age
First time I've seen This type twin engine's for a long. long time, Love the sound of those Detroit Engine's This Dozer looks in & sounds in good condition, 😊
Most distinctive sounding engine to this day
GM were miles ahead of the competition before they were made to get rid of Euclid
That's s good operator to grade that good with a cable dozer.
lawnfarmer the guy running the dozer is a fucking arrogant idiot. I watched fin park a grader on a 10• slope pointed towards a whole crowd of people idling at the Father’s Day show in Sharon springs and walked away for 20 plus minutes. I told a couple of younger kids to get off of it because they were climbing all through it. He was probably half drunk in this video
@@kylebrown8891 Really?, sociopaths and narcissists are everywhere, I'm from México and my whole family are like that I'm the only one that's normal, sucks to live in the same planet with those parasitic bastards
Operated one of these to push TS-24 scrapers while building Disney World in Kissimmee Florida.
Mike Youngblood I never ran a cable blade , before my time , some of the old hands told me that if you let the blade drop of your lift it would break the cables , and the operator was the one who had to fix it , The operator running that snozer. Is slick !!
I recall as a youngster a TC12 and a D9G have a pushoff blade to blade.
TC12 just pushed the D9 backwards.
Mind you , the TC12 had a very belly compared to its width so had a habit of getting bogged in soft going.
Beautiful machine non the less.
Very low belly I meant to say
Looks and sounds healthy, good operator too 👌🏻😎
Twin Detroit ' s screaming awesome sound
The machine is a Beast!!
Thanks for posting! Definitely bookmarked this one.
We used to call these the "Pukey Ukes" when I worked the woods because of their color and make. The operator was stone cold deaf when he retired.
He must've lasted 3 days because he was deaf on the 2nd one!
WHAAAAT?
lmao that would suck!
that is one hell of a dozer i love Detroit as well dam good engines
Two dozers connected into one machine, with one operator. Brilliant idea. But Euclid was not the first to realize this idea. Two Allis Chalmers HD19's were connected into one machine in 1949, on the Garrison Dam project in NDakota. Maybe Euclid stole the idea?
Down here at the Farmhall museum he has a farm tractor like that on display.
4:23 Euclid to the little guy "I remember my first beer".lol.
I drive past this exact dozer everyday lol
a dream of a dozer, greats from Austria
Euclid. The answer to the question nobody asked.
No body is still asking that question
I'd love to see this in real life..amazing machine.
Nice restoration Jim
Why were the track frames a weak link ? Did GM ever fix them before stopping production? I always loved the "EUCLIDS" + The Detroits! It bugs me that Caterpillar dominates the market!!
The sound of a 6-71 always reminds me of Greyhound buses for some reason.
There's a very good reason for that, same engine, just running clockwise in the rear cradle.
Just think about it. Stronger than your average caterpillar dozer.
May be but if I had to listen to one on a LONG day it'd be an 8-H.
Comments about him being good at carrying a grade make me chuckle, considering he is working one of the easiest materials on the planet! My families business had a competitor (for a Short time) who ran Detroits, we could hear Just Where their job was, from Miles away🤐
What a Machine!! 👍 I wonder how much fuel it sucks down in an hour of heavy operation?
Love the sound of those Detroit's
It's quite modern looking too.
As a safety manager... all I can think is "Hearing Conservation Program" haha
Eh?
Dust is worse than hearing. We wernt wimps back then
The buzzin' dozin' is actually a term invented for the 12v71 not two 6 - 71s
Yep, this would be a pair of six packs.
Isn't the 12v71 just 2 6's bolted together?
coolest dozer ever. Awesome
I love the neutral steering.
Love the 671's my boat has two of them in her.
I'm impressed by this machine, but also by the dirt. Not a rock it site.
Great vid! Damn good operator
Saudades desse ronco do Detroit e do tempo das "Grandes Máquinas".....
Vdd amigo esses tratores foram feitos pra durar em uma época em que o pensamento era vender qualidade e força bruta .
Pretty light looking ROPS
That's power
Clássic TC 12
I was afraid that little dozer would get inhaled by those Detroits.
Why is there 2 top track support rollers on the right side and only one on the left ??
"Toysrus" for adults... Featuring the "Buzzin Dozen"

engine never bogs, no smoke ever, I assume these had torque converter ...automatic transmission?
yes torque converted allison automatics 3 speeds forward 3 reverse
Never got a chance to operate one, but I was Detroit tech during two cycle era, lo ve Detroit engines manly the 71and the 92 series.
Still work on the three and four cyl. Early engines
Awesome 👍
Que maquina potente .
E bonito também o EUCLIDE eu queria ver se acho miniatura de metal dele .
Very nice credit due 👍👍👍👍
I heard they only made 600 of these
Big toys,for big boys. ):
Some playground there too.
Two 6-110's not two 6-71's. This is the tractor that saved Caterpillar it caused them to wake up to the fact they were not necessarily the best.
Very cool
We used to call them the "Pukey Uke" mostly from the color.
There is a newer model in Wakefield Mi with an enclosed cab,the ground shakes when they run it
Reminds me of the old fishbowl city buses
Massa
I bet that monster is a maintenance nightmare though!!
Owned a '65 C6 with a drainage plow for almost 30 years. My left ear took the beating but my right ear still loves the sound. Will this show happen in 2021?
so u gona make it do any work,
I was at the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Reunion at Rollag last fall. There was one of these working. Video just does not convey how massive this machine is! Every bit as big as a Cat D 10!
I got to watch it working on Saturday what a beautiful amazing sounding machine!
That's a dozer!!!
Haha is was at mc fattens auction today was hoping to see it but it wasent their it was on their web page the jenk yard is my favorit place in the world
"Overkillus destructus"
Not really a buzzin dozen it's two separate engines not a v12
I still have my Terex watch fob of that dozer. Too bad their main flaw was they tore themselves in half.
I think it's cheaper to use a crawler loader. The dozers just pick up the amount of dirt they can push, and pushes it wherever. Lotta diesel used. If you pick the dirt up with a big loader , it's probably cheaper to pick the dirt up and move it vs pushing it.
Was for me. I could always move more with a loader than a dozer the same size.
Depending on the ground conditions.
Lots of 'white finger' and bad hearing after operating these for a number of years..huge vibration and noise
Lemme see, the engine drives the track on its' particular side of the dozer?!?!?!?
+James Pendergrass Yes. One engine for each track, each with its own throttle so track speeds can be controlled independently. Also, the forward/reverse control on each track is independent, so they can turn in opposite directions. The whole machine can be split down the middle for transport. It's an amazing machine. Thanks for watching!
Smooth running Detroit 2 sickles. Smooth operator here, too. Note radiators in the back.
Don't let the nickname "Buzzin' Dozen" fool ya'! The term Buzzin Dozen refers to the Detroit Diesel 12V71 Diesel engine.
Bet she drinks fuel like it's still 25 cents a gallon LMAO!
Actually not really...a 6-71 under full load is burning right at 5 gal/hr x2, 10 gal/hr, which is right at what a current D9 burns...keep in mind, these dozers are roughly 80k lbs without the blade, which makes them up into the 90s with the front attachment - a current D9N/R is about 105k, while A D8N/R is about 84k...very similar to todays machines.
A newer version, called a D800, produced from Mid80s, through roughly early 90s when Terex dozers were phased out, due to GM's financial status and market conditions is a really nice comparison to a D9N/R...with a single ripper and semi U blade, weighs about 108k, 12V71T, derated to 370 horse, drinks about 20 gal/hr...granted is much more than the TC12, but, more weight, significantly more pushing power and cooling. You may notice my picture...we have owned ours since 1999. Great machine...hard to find parts for...
25 wimps disliked.
I am super Gay and I like.
This is a real man's machine.
This is the machine, I fantasized about and my husband driving it.
@@billywilliams6853 just wear your earplugs so you can't hear her/him screaming.
@@jimmychanbers2424 thanks
Quando o bicho vinha roncando seus 2 motores detroit 6-71 , os Caterpillar D9 tinham vontade de se esconder..kkkkkkkk
Pensa numa Máquina Bruta
When people they don't make em line that I say? What's? Can't hear your?
that tc-12 is the best machine they ever made that thing grades nice i think that the made year is wrong i remember seeing them in the mid 1960ds the 6-71 engine was not even in production
rock dawg The series 71 engines
Were first released in 1939 I don't know why you think they came along in the 60s
@@billgoodhue5036... actually they first went into limited production in late Sept. 1937... along with a few 3 & 4-71's. the very first running prototype was a 4-71 and I have a B&W 8x10" framed picture of it hanging right over my desk here that was given to me after I returned from VN by my instructor from when I was studying 2 cycle Diesel Engine Design & Theory for four years from 1963 - 1967.... he was one of the original R&D team under Boss Kettering when they developed the first Series 71 engines... wish I had been part of the original R&D team.
The picture was taken with Kettering, P. Nicholas (my instructor) and a 3rd fellow whom I've since forgotten the name of... with the 4-71, just moments after it was fired up for the first time. I've been offered "good money" for it... but it is Not for sale. : )
Double the fuel expense, ouch!
More power than clatterpiller
The U.S. built some great things, why could they not stay in business???????????
GREED
Bill Clinton
Mr.Willy did not work from G.M.
Ahead of its time as big as it was you can do a 3-60 im shour if you ran it for a living u could get nasty with it
Really cool oh and huh lol
Old cat killer
Vi
Speak up I can't hear you..lol
Cat killer
It sounds like someone farting
Tommy Ramroop it doesn’t sound like that at all.. are you okay??
