I love this mall, I want it to thrive. I’m a local. Their waterpark beats Hurricane Harbor and I forget the names of the multiple ones in PA. I visit this mall frequently. Don’t listen to the haters. They are haters for a reason lol. This mall is worth the visit. This is the mall you go to shop and be entertained. I’ve done every escape room, the hasbro game room, activate games, black light mini golf, Nickelodeon park, the 7D ride, big snow, and dreamworks waterpark. I’ve eaten at doner kebab, the ramen spot, jollibee, the Italian bakery place I forget the name on the first floor, Jarana, Mr beast burger, yard house, wine bar, M’s desserts, the dream bar, the Italian spot on fashion avenue D, Oreo cafe, and the five guys. You could literally walk around and be entertained and not even spend money if you don’t want to. Take photos and enjoy everything. There’s a primark in there. I’ve gone so many times and yet I still feel I haven’t done everything lol. If you have a family, this is especially the spot. Jersey gardens is good if you want something cheap, Woodbury/GSP/menlo/short hills/Jersey shore outlets are great if you want solely clothing shopping(ADM still better though), Woodbridge/Willowbrook/Livingston/Newport/Bridgewater/Flemington outlets are okay. Will admit the mall can be a little pricey if you decide to partake in things, but everything is pricey with inflation.
There's not enough ppl in Jersey to keep that place open. The state should build a monorail or any train system that will transport ppl from the Hudson River and Newark airport to the Mall.
People used consider this mall to be dead in terms of Vacancies, since this place would regularly crowd up. However the Mall itself is struggling heavily. So much to the point that part of the Mall of America’s budget had to be moved to this mall.
I went this year 2024 in March. It was empty, no people. Some of the stores were closed. It’s a beautiful mall, but I was a bit disappointed. I spent 4 hours, I didn’t see that many places to eat.
This mall would be mobbed if there was no internet or smart phones. I'd much rather go to ANY other mall - in the 1980s- even Paramus Park or Livingston. This mall would have looked a lot different/more futuristic inside if it was completed when it was originally supposed to be - I seen some wild early completed ceilings in there that were removed! Countryside mall in florida has had a skating rink for a long time.
American Dream Mall has a lot but still has a lot of vacant spaces. I think some of it was the construction started during the financial crash, and then was on hold for a while, and then resumed, and then close to opening, they were hit with the COVID-19 pandemic. I think some of the retailers that originally planned to occupy space pulled out with the industry going through a massive downsizing.
Garden state plaza and willowbrook never look this dead on weekdays. Location is very important and as someone who lives only a town over this mall is a pain in the ass to get to. No residential street access, not walkable, it sits in a very inconvenient location. For a mall of America dreams size it should have been the most attended mall in nj but it struggles beating the smaller malls. Amd struggles with payments. The mall recently lost a 389 million dollar lawsuit. East rutherford and 12 other towns are owed payments that adm has avoided paying them because of an agreement that the mall must be 100 percent leased in order to start paying the towns their due. Every local person hates the mall. You go to adm once to look and never to return.
Exactly. The thriving malls rely on luxury shopping and anyone in this area would sooner go to GSP, Riverside Sq. Or Short Hills. This whole complex was is an ill conceived monstrosity.
I just watched an older video showing the struggles they had building this mall, at which time its future was in limbo. I’m so glad to see that the project was finished and doing well. Thanks for the update. 😊
@@carameltones1 they miss payments lost a big lawsuit ti bankers a.d now have 13 towns suing them because the mall hasnt paid the towns a single penny yet that it owes
Wow i hope that looks like fun although just walking around such a massive mall sounds exhausting lol.
It definitely feels like you spent the day at an amusement park lol. But it is for sure a lot of fun!!
They have seating every part of this mall so you can sit down to rest that’s what I looked for and noticed and I was happy

Love this place❤

I think a train system would be so ideal! Especially to help people get there from the tri-state
The last time I was there, there was so much traffic because of the mall, so many people were there and it was on a week day

This makes total sense! I was super impressed with how much was built up considering all of that but it does answer why there are so many vacancies

Over 8 million in debt. They can't not let it fail
