thank you for your honesty! It's true, you see all these beautiful artworks, they really don't show everything. I've asked few and some were very nice, and some weren't. oh well I don't mind learning on the way!
@@sharonp8524 I’m so glad you enjoyed this video! You are so right, I feel like some artists leave out some of the crucial steps! But same here, it’s always fun to learn something new haha
Came across your vid from typing "how to epoxy wooden coasters" and thought, "well, it's NOT an epoxy vid, but might be interesting to watch." Glad I did, you are funny, honest and ya got a new subscriber!! YAY!! I just bought a bunch of craft stuff from Hobby Lobby, I used to work there as a lead stockman, so thanks for your "shameless promos"! I bought the coaster set and was like-now what do I do? YOU inspired me to do something fun with it. I gotta start putting MY projects on MY channel....ugh, lots of work. Take care and God bless Kelsie! Oh and LOVE your coasters!
Hi! Thank you so much for watching my video and I’m super happy the search engine steered you over to me! Welcome! I can’t wait to see what you do with your coasters! If it makes you feel any better, I’ve taken a break from my channel as well but I’m looking forward to getting back to it in the new year!! Cheers to you and your creativity! Inspiring me as well!
if you sand down the wood use a wet wipe or hand wipe to wipe off any excess wood dust then stain or use an oil sealant it should work well too. The add a clear coat of paint to seal and pop the colors, then add 2 more clear coats of water proof spray paint, should work just as well too.
@@homemadehalloweenusa thank you! Oh man, okay so the top coat remains a mystery to me. Because I think in this video I put mod podge but my drinks started sticking to them lololol so I’m thinking a gloss varnish would be better but again I haven’t tried that and it is still sort of tacky. So the jury is still out on that one 😬😬😬😬
Thanks will try mod podge. I did find out the first steps but then I put on some vernis as finisch to repel water but it made it sticky 😂 so it will stick to your glass and most times fall off at the highest point 😅
@@cindyaerdts I’m so sorry I’m just now responding to this 🤣 it’s funny you talked about it sticking to your glass because when I covered it with mod podge, the same thing happened to me lolololol I was wondering if a gloss varnish wouldn’t work, but idk it’s still pretty sticky haha
I’m like a year late. But I just painted 3D spiders on coasters. Didn’t sand it down. It worked but absorbed the paint. So I just added some layers. I used really small paint brushes which technically were made for painting nails. But it works perfectly for it. Not sure if I should use a sealer on it. I used outdoor paint so technically it’s waterproof.
Hey! Thanks for watching my video. That was ultimately my goal of having coasters where the wood grain would show, but only had gesso on hand 😑 BUT I like your idea of satin spray paint. I think it’s worth a try, and maybe a couple coats of it because these things absorbed SO much paint that it just wasn’t very vibrant
Hi! Yeah I did! I put mod podge on it after I finished the design. I experimented with it a little bit. So with the blue coaster, I poured the mod podge on the coaster and then allowed it to flow where it needed to go. And it was super smooth but un even and it seemed globby. But then when I applied the mod podge with a paint brush it was streaky, so I’m not sure which one I liked better haha
@TheKayPitt hello! I wonder if you can help me. I painted coasters and sealed them with modge podge and gifted them to my friend. When she uses them though and places hot mugs on them they stick and she has to push it to get it off D: did you have this problem?
Haha! You know, I didn’t take art in high school! I just took art lessons but looking back on all my artwork I’m not sure how well I did in them lololol
Hi. You mentioned below mod podge did not work. Why are you posting a video on painting coasters that are unusable? Extremely frustrating as the purpose of a coaster is yo rest a drink on it.

Awesome! I loved this video, thank you for all your tips. And your coasters still came out really pretty.

Luvd u straight off the bat! Can't believe I've only just found your channel 😍
Awe thank you! That means so much to me 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I love your humor! Thank you for this video!
Woot woot! I’m glad you enjoy the goofiness haha
Nice 👍🏾. Will try Gesso on wood. I have only tried it on canvas
When you made the cross one, did you just do two layers of white paint, or did you add gesso than do two layers of white paint?
I think…if I remember correctly, I just did two coats of paint! But you couldn’t go wrong by doing both the paint layers and the gesso for sure 🙂
Hahaha haha!! Sorry I'm late. Awesome stuff, those would be awesome to put some Iron Horse logos on!!!
Dude! Iron Horse Garage coasters! That would be lit as the children say these days 🤣
Boom - Iron Horse!
They are great for wood-burning art.
I’ve seen that! And I’m tempted to try it haha
@@TheKayPitt Do! Its pretty fun! And challenging.

This video was the answer I was looking for. Many thanks. So easy, fun and actually very good information!
Awesome! I’m so glad I could help! Even though I had to ruin a couple coasters haha
thank you soo much i was searching for the EXACT thing!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH
Awe perfect! I’m so glad I could help out! 😁
Great video! Made some really good points Amiga!
I like your idea of painting the coaster first, but what if you want the woodgrain to show? Could you prime with a clear coat of satin spray paint?

Sweet! Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it:) I hope you have a good weekend in this spring weather!
Hi, do you put some time of protective layer after you finish painting your design?

Nobody replied so I will! Same issue happened to me. My BF coaster sticks to his coffee cup. It had mod podge matte on it
Can you send me the name of the pen for writing or line art on the wood coaster?
Yes! It’s the Prismacolor hand lettering set!
What type of white paint did you use please? Acrylic paint? Ax
Yes! Acrylic! I believe it was folk art too!
How to stop the wood from cracking??
I painted a few coasters in the same method as the video but after a few days they cracked 😢
👏👏
Thanks friend! Hope you are doing well!
You can get a set of 6 coasters at hobby lobby by for $7
I got a C in art in high school lol. Bet you got an A
