    Post-updates, while it definitely hurts OP emotionally, I say she did the right thing, and honestly, from my perspective, the husband is just as awful as his bratty sister, cause even throughout the divorce and the contents of the letter, it's clear he made it all about himself. Whatever remorse he claims to have, I am not buying it. While the ex is not openly bratty and entitled, narcissism does run in this family. Normally I would be open for second chances, but with the way the ex demeaned OP and still tried to emotionally manipulate OP with his wording, he would be doing a lot of proverbial hoop jumping if he wants to earn my trust.
    OP, as you said, take this a day at a time, and you can recover. Although I would suggest permanently blocking him and go no contact, washing your hands off this phase of your life for good. A clear break is needed if you want a fresh start.

    • @BulkCutRepeat
      @BulkCutRepeat Месяц назад +3

      Narcissist is so overused nowadays. Honestly, both OP and ex are in the wrong and were clearly not ready for marriage if a slight disagreement caused their marriage to fall apart to this extent. Ex was selfish and only thinking of himself, but OP was also only thinking of herself

    She should have blocked the joint savings account after he stole $25k from the account without her knowledge. She should have withdrawn the rest of the amount from the account, instead of waiting out on it. He had the gall to say that he was the only one to be depositing the amount for the last couple of months.
    Never ever rush in to make joint savings account in a marriage. You can have a joint account for the expenses purposes, but don't rush for savings though. Have your own individual savings account for safety reasons. Most marriages fall apart because of the financial reasons. He didn't give a fcuk about OP or her intentions.
    Good riddance, divorce was the right choice in this event. There was no coming back from this blatant disrespect, insults, and belittling.

I can tell he spent lots of money on his sister before for him to pull out 25k that easy to spend on her. They were planning on having a baby when he already had one, his sister. Like unless the husband is grossly negligent, that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I would have led them on until I got another job lined up and dip. All the OP has to ask is - has d ip s hit ever spent 25k on a gift for me? I’m 99% sure the answer’s no, because logically she’d have said so. That sums it all up right there. What i will say though is that for women, love is transactional. She blabbed that she loved him, but what was the underlying concern? Screwing off with finances.

How old does your husband think his sister is? If she wants something as ridiculously expensive as this, surely she could have asked all the family members to contribute. There was already a substantial amount of money in the joint savings account, contributed by both. He got a new check of $25k and wanted to use all of that $25k, that is where the issue is. He could have deposited in his own account, which he didn't, which is also legally wrong, and which he used up immediately. This could put OP under the taxable bracket.

      @chrisdunken6738 She did, but I think it was because it was a joint account, so she couldn't stop him. I could be wrong, though.

      Idk, I get that the husband screwed up a few times... then got screwed several more times by his family... but i dont see this as a situation where you just divorce. I think they could have solved this and figured this all out and the husband was willing to go to those lengths. It's just too bad that some people run at the first sight of things looking bad. Guess i just can't rationalize it in my mind unless its something like cheating or continued abuse.

    He’s more in the wrong, but jumping to divorce from planning for a baby is extreme. Either OP is crazy or there’s something else.

      yeah, because spending 25k on a whim and lying about it is not extreme or crazy.
      after something like that you can't expect stability from your SO, the trust was broken, feeling loved and secured was shattered after the name-calling and also the fact that he was sorry after his job was in danger says a lot about him. you just can't continue a healthy relationship with a person like this.

      @@SierraHamila hi, wdym "know the other side"? imo there is nothing that could redeem him. his behaviour was irresposible, he was inconsiderate and manipulative. his side would probably be just full of self pity, victim balming and more excuses, unfortunetly.
      edit: as a wife in a loving realtionship, if my partner did the same as op's husband, i would probably divorce him as well.

    Jesus, people's relationships are fragile AF these days. 1 Insult and a relationship that lasted and got strong enough to lead to marriage, just shatters to pieces... damn people have some paper thin skin these days... no wonder the US's Divorce rate is so damn high... don't get me wrong the whole $25K gift is definitely a dumb (word used in lieu of the R word) move to make, but he could also just have re-added that back to the joint savings after about a month or so... I think these two should never even have gotten married in the first place with how different they were... Red flags on both sides of these two...

      Taking the $25k was major financial abuse and broken trust. HE ruined the marriage, she responded appropriately
