Pau is well known to be able to have “technical” difficulties and not lose a beat. She has broken sticks mid song. In one performance she dropped a stick and finished the song by slapping the cymbal with the palm of her hand. Last year she broke the head of her bass drum. And in many concerts her drum cage starts to collapse. You often see her drum tech scurrying around trying to readjust it. She is very professional.

I may be wrong, but from what I recall, after they fixed her drum head, they realized the right pedal was not working anymore, so she played the remaining half of the show with her left foot only, including doing the double bass drum parts with only one pedal and she said that after the show her left leg was really hurting.

All three of them started on piano (Dany & Pau say that Ale is the best player). Dany had two fanned fret guitars from luthier Rick Toone that she used throughout the recording and performing of QotMS album. He features his Spearfish model she used on his website. She is now sponsored by and uses PRS guitars with regular frets.
Both Dany & Ale use Orange cabs in their home studio. Dany uses an Orange Pedal Baby head on tour into a Mesa 410 cabinet. Ale has an Orange OB-1 and Orange cab at home, but travels with a Aguilar Tone Hammer Pre-amp/DI pedal into a Mesa Subway D800+ head into a classic Ampeg 810 fridge.

Didn't Ale get sponsored by Spectre after this album at age 14? I heard they gave her a custom 5 string bass with the lightening bolt band emblem built into the neck. Not many artists use a 5 string much less use harmonics which I've heard her do before. Pleasant surprise as it's underutilized in my opinion.

Several years ago songwriter Bobby Boyd of Nashville (Bless The Broken Road) started trying with others to help revive the creative music of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The Warning certainly fills that order.

Hey Chris and Sam! Stalker is such a creepy and emotional song! Dany really embodies the craziness of the "Queen" in this song. I have listened to this whole album literally hundreds of times and it never seems to get old. Yes, the production quality of the studio version is lacking, due to them being a small budget, independent band, but the quality of the songs is certainly not lacking. I would hold it up to other concept albums, like Operation Mindcrime or Quadrophenia. The storytelling is purposely vague to let the listener fill in the story. I have QOTMS on CD and vinyl, both autographed, because I am sure one day they will be collectors items. I am hoping one day it will be remastered and rereleased with better quality engineering. And perhaps one day The Warning will have a tour, like Queensryche did, and do the whole QOTMS album as a second of three sets, when they are headlining arenas around the world. To see them do this album live with a full stage production would be amazing!
Also, guys, I like the new song, although I am not a fan of growling vocals. Otherwise your vocals are awesome and sound very much like The Offspring. Cool Punky riffs, and a nice crunchy Bass! And a left-handed drummer that has a reverse kit setup is also very unusual. I am way up in Atlanta, but I have a friend in Sarasota. I will have to check out your schedule to see if I can catch one of your gigs when I am down visiting! Rock On Guys!!

Fun fact - the interference sound at the beginning and end of this song is running on the backing track for this live performance. During an early version of recording the studio version of this song (a demo I believe) that interference happened spontaneously. Its eerie vibe felt so perfect that they decided they had to keep that intro recording from the demo for the final recording as it wouldn't be easy to reproduce. Depending on my mood, this can be my favourite song from The Warning.

Somehow, the settings on the keyboard had changed (unexpectedly) when she went back to play, at the end of the song. It threw her for a small loop. SPOILER ALERT: it doesn't get fixed and comes back to haunt them later. You'll miss the kurfuffle, if you watch the individual videos of the songs, but it was handled as best they could, professionally and candidly; one of the things TWA loves about DPA.

They all started out playing piano. On the TedX University of Nevada Survive video, Ale opens the song on piano.
Edit - it looks like you have not done Survive from TedX. There are two iconic songs of their up and coming - Cover of Enter Sandman, in 2014. Survive at University of Nevada TedX - this song is attributed to a vast number of fans becoming hooked on this band. It was a thread song set, Survive by far elevated to way above there ages! ALSO - you noticed the drum stick. Keep your eyes open -you might see why by this performance, she has an easy to reach holder for replacement sticks!
Also, also. In one interview, the interviewer was trying to ask them about a particular performance, but they were having trouble remembering which one - until Pau suddenly said “that was the one where I didn’t break a stick!”

  • @jonpalmer450
    @jonpalmer450 Год назад +1

Yes, they can all play classical music on the piano. Piano is actually the first instrument that they learned, and Pau uses a piano when she is composing a new song.
I would suggest that after you finish all the QOTMS songs that you find Pau's cover of Creep, that she plays on their home piano with just a cell phone. They also have some songs with a lot of piano parts on the Escape the Mind EP that came before their first album.
And you are right about the Orange amp. Even back to that viral video of Enter Sandman in 2014, she was using an Orange amp in the Warning Cave (their basement studio). Since you say that they are expensive, and she had one when they were still just playing songs for the family, I would assume that her parents have a pretty nice income. That studio and equipment they started with had to cost a pretty peso.

If I’m not mistaken on the song, those weird synth type sounds were something they accidentally captured while recording something else and thought it sounded so creepy they had to keep it and put it in at the beginning and end of Stalker. As to the Orange amps, someone commented somewhere that they were so used to seeing Dany’s Orange amp in their videos that it should be given a name and made part of the band. 😅. Also after your last video talking about Rush influences, not ten minutes later I saw a clip from one of their shows in the last few weeks and Ale had her Rush t-shirt on. Just found it an amusing coincidence. Thanks guys.

This song sounds deceivingly simple but like most of the songs on this album there are layers of complexity compounded to make this a stellar composition. The drum work is intricate. Notice that Pau not only replaces a stick during the song but she compensates for the missing stick by doubling up with the other stick. She does it so well tat most people never notice when it happens. The bass lines fill in well for the absence of a rhythm guitar. And Dany is just shining here.

Ale has broken bass straps and fell backwards (at least once) never missed a link. Pau, of course has broken many sticks and drum kits before. Dany has had to sing "Crimson Queen" with no lead guitar because the internal Amp was left on at sound check. Thus run down by show time.

She most likely destoryed her drum stick. Pau is known to break her drum sticks a lot. Watch the Ted Talk, or was it Ted Ex? Can't recall. But during Survive you can see her drum stick bust apart and a piece lands on a symbol and she has to reach down and grab a new one.
I believe she is nick-named The Shredder for how often she breaks a drum stick.
