    New Orleans was founded in 1718. The first Africans were not brought until 1721. In that interim three years, the French enslaved Amerindian prisoners of war (mostly women). The first generation of Creoles of color born in New Orleans were all Afro-Amerindian people and New Orleans Creole culture is a result of those people's interactions with the French and Spanish and with the other Amerindian people of the area (Atakapa, Houma etc).
    Creoles = Afro-Metis = indigenous.

    Im intrigued by this culture but I have been seeing other American Indians that are offended by this why? It seems like these people have taken a great deal of pride and respect in what they are doing to celebrate the culture so how is it offensive

    Indians? What band or tribe of Indians? I will say that this is offensive to any northern plains tribe or southern plains tribe nations.
