I love being being Creole ! My family is from Opelousas and Avoyelles amongst other places in Louisiana . I have Choctaw , Cherokee , Creek and Attakapa Native American ancestry . Proud to be Creole !
i have been searching for the longest time for this video, but i thought it was funny. i was looking everywhere and finally i remembered the title to type in. i was way off, i was just clicking on every video to do with mardis gras.
New Orleans was founded in 1718. The first Africans were not brought until 1721. In that interim three years, the French enslaved Amerindian prisoners of war (mostly women). The first generation of Creoles of color born in New Orleans were all Afro-Amerindian people and New Orleans Creole culture is a result of those people's interactions with the French and Spanish and with the other Amerindian people of the area (Atakapa, Houma etc). Creoles = Afro-Metis = indigenous.
Im intrigued by this culture but I have been seeing other American Indians that are offended by this why? It seems like these people have taken a great deal of pride and respect in what they are doing to celebrate the culture so how is it offensive
