Actually, the main character of Kid Icarus was always known as "Pit", they just screwed up in Captain N.
I liked the name Kid Icarus more
His character in this show is odious maximus. It was like it was written by an Australopithecus. Watching him makes me so sickious. This plot is so insidious. The intelligence is so ambiguous. This show makes completely no sensicus. ARRIBA!!
And yes, I'm making a reference to both Kid Icarus in this show and the racist singing mice in NC first Animated Titanic review.

Another major screw up they did was make Mother Brain, the antagonist from Metroid the big bad and yet NO SAMUS ARAN!! They had to create a token girl character for the protagonists but NO SAMUS ARAN!! they had LINK do a guest part but NO SAMUS ARAN!!
The one that really pissed me off was Mega Man.
I MEAN HE'S THE FUCKING BLUE BOMBER. HIS SPRITE WAS BLUE.

Keiläs Philler I think Mother Brain and Simon are slightly worse. At this point in time you just had some words in a manual and an 8-bit sprite to get the idea of what you're supose to be thinking so you mostly had to fill in the blanks yourself....BUT WHAY WOULD YOU FILL IN *THAT* ?!?!?!
Keiläs Philler Don't mention the heroes that were cut out. Lil Mac, Samus, and various others. Not to mention there is no Mario and Luigi which should have been a part of this.
Crimson Ace Thing is though, Simon actually has a fair amount of badass moments in the show. He's arguably the best fighter on the team besides Kevin. It's just that his vanity and pride get played up far more.
Matthew Cavalier Adding Simon to that was an edit, I originaly just mentioned mother brain. However, can we atleast agree that this Simon does not fit the Dracula setting of the original game?
Crimson Ace Well, no. Of course not, but Castlevania isn't exactly kid-friendly. Simon was probably chosen because Nintendo didn't really have another realistic-ish adult male to compete for Lana's affections and be a rival to Kevin. At least they didn't go with Karnov.
Also, my auto correct tried to spell Castlevania as Castle vanilla.

@@augustwest5356I think stigma is probably due to pimp culture and overall overtly docile people that can be self manipulated as compared to getting a higher degree of education so you can succeed without the working for easy needs as compared to ambitions basically.
The boy who voiced Kid Icarus would eventually grow up to voice "Death Note"'s L (he was also Felix Gaeta in the newer "Battlestar Galactica". Come to think of it, Captain N is the guy who'd go on to do Ed from "Ed, Edd, and Eddy" (or Bankotsu from "Inuyasha" if you want to also go the anime route).

Light Yagami is the mild-mannered, over-achieving high school student no one would expect to be a mass murderer. But all he has to do to kill someone is.. *PAUSE* (whips out gun) *BAM*

Why did so many 90s cartoon child protagonists refuse to use their powers to their full potential?
Between the guy with the ability to freeze _time,_ and the band of 5 kids with environmental (and mind control) powers, it seems like a lot of potential badassery was completely looked over!

Yeah I always wanted to animate that. Five of nintendo's greatest heroes: Mario, Link, Samus Aran, Pit and Pikachu watched from afar by Master Hand entrigued by their strenght and spirit. Faced 5 trials together as a team forming a strong bond between each and Master Hand pulls them in to fight 27 other opponents where there skills are put to the test. It would be awesome; if only I was good at animating and would not get sued by nintendo. I just hope some in L A would get it and do it right.
I had a concept, sort of a Nintendo justice league, crossed with kingdom hearts. Starting with Mario, luigi, donkey kong, link, samus, kirby, yoshi, Fox mcloud, captain falcon, ness, ash( or red) with a team of pokemon, and misty( or another female trainer) form a team to fight evil in various game worlds. Other members like zelda, peach, pit, and meta knight would be added in later season's.
Would it be a good idea if said cartoon pulled a Total Drama by spoofing game shows, with challenges, eliminations, and even a little backstabbing?

With good writing, voices, and good animation I would watch it.
...And have a consistent plot, not make up shit about their characters and not have their characters use stupid ass gimmicks like being gay, saying "Mega" before every word, or adding "icus" at the end of every sentence.
+Tyler Rush The inconsistencies were one of the big game breakers for me. For example, the episode "Happy Birthday, Mega Man" has Mega Girl, who never appears again, and Mega Man becomes human, which is NEVER. MENTIONED. AGAIN.
Super Booster Boy and character development like Simon, ikarus and megaman were badasses while captain "N" Kevin game master is a weakling who scared of fighting.
Fun fact I just learned recently, the voice of Audrey Two, and Mother Brain is the late great Levi Stubbs, the lead vocalist of the Four Tops.
Those two characters were also the only voice acting Stubbs ever did. So, in a way, he WAS 'always' voicing gender-ambiguous monsters with no feet.

@@kingbowserthethird3707 For a hyper-critical adult, yes. But for a kid in the 90s, what more could you want? It follows the games very closely, even using sound effects from the game. And even though Link is obnoxious, you've gotta give the show credit for giving 2D sprites a lot of personality. They easily could've made Zelda another helpless damsel like Peach but fortunately they made her the badass we know today. And Link is not just a silent protagonist, he's a kid. And honestly, he's not far off from how I imagined him after reading the instruction manuals.
Fun Fact, Captain N had a comic series, and in them Samus was in love with him.
Just want to point out that Captain N himself is 16 years old.
And pretty sure Lana is supposed to be the same age as him. If they had to make Simon have this icky crush on her, did they need to age him further?

From what I understand, the creator of the show had never played any Nintendo games. He simply watched whenever his son would play and got everything based off that.

However, they had Frank Welker doing voices all the way from down in LA for the dog and Game Boy. Must've been what they did for Tara Strong in MLP and Jaleel White in AoStH.

If they rebooted this show with the lore of the recent games and took it seriously, it would be amazing. Make Simon a courteous Conan that you believe can kill Death, make Pit a friendly but cocky snarker, actually use Samus if you keep Mother Brain and/or bring in Hades or Dracula instead... and don't get me started with what you could do with the Zelda universe
Here's another idea: The Final Fantasy world! Have each game's events take place in a different part of that world!

lilturk726 I checked to see if he was pausing with the Select button. I think he is. But... But... You're only supposed to paused thing with the Start button. (Unless it's the Wii Remote you're using then you're supposed to hit the Home Menu button or the + button to pause.)

+Ashley Phillips Actually, there's quite a few NES games that use select to pause games for some reason. It's really goddamn annoying to get used to. I think there's even a few SNES games that did it. I never understood why. It's just as bad as pausing a game only for the music to keep playing.
TXF Oh, I didn't know that, thank you for telling me. ...But, then again, I've never owned a NES/SNES nor did I ever played with one. The Nintendo consoles I own/play with are the Nintendo 64, the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo Wii U, the Nintendo 3DS, and I think we have a Game Boy somewhere. Oh, and we also have a PlayStation 2 and a broken PlayStation (The first PlayStation that is).

I'm writing a series similar to Captain N, and I find it far more entertaining. First of all, in my series, the characters look and act closer to their game counterparts, but then again, since the protagonist can change any aspect of the game world around her, they have their own little traits and quirks. The protagonist also uses exploits this show couldn't (for example, when she makes a mistake, she presses the pause button and tries to fix it.) She can also enter and exit the game world anytime she likes, whereas Captain N seems trapped in this Nintendo knock-off world. My protagonist is also way more relatable and has more character than Captain N could ever have. Did I forget to mention that Mega Man is blue in my series?

The Japanese subtitle for Link's Awakening translates to The Island Where Dreams Are Seen. and the subtitle for Link to the Past is Triforce of the Gods. Adventure of Link is the only Zelda game (not counting spinoffs, but who does for LoZ?) that has Link's name in the title in its original language, further cementing its status as the red-headed stepchild of the series.

This show was actually enjoyable as a very young kid. Even though the character designs are atrocious, just seeing a cartoon based around video games was pretty cool when you're a nerdy kid. I mean, half of the cartoons you loved as a kid are hard to watch as an adult.

That is something that bugged us forever back then. Apparently they didn't have the rights to include Samus. But she was part of a short story in the comics, also based on the series.

Critic, you should know this, but this series is not considered to be based of games, we consider it to be based of the mis-colored cheap toy products that was based of games
It's interesting you mention that, because I can't help but think of them as bootlegged versions of cheap toys made in China if they were made in Thailand, the Philippines, or somewhere like that instead.

Apparently, the characters didn’t look like their official art because the animation studio, DIC, wasn’t sent any official art. They only got sent is a few games and had to play it on a crappy TV

I know that Alucard and Mother Brain aren't even close to their original design but I love their cartoon design, their voices and their personality.

I can think of one legit reason they're Princesses instead of Queens - because of that reduced responsibility, it gives them more agency to go hands-on. As Queen, they'd have to see to matters of State instead of personally helping the hero.

You think Simon Belmont was screwed up in this adaptation. Alucard was easily changed a whole lot worse. Literally the polar opposite of the Alucard we know and love from Draculas Curse and Symphony of the Night.
It makes the Dante from the DMC reboot look good.

Rift Shredder Of all the animated shows based on video games the only two I ever saw was Sonic Underground and that Donkey Kong Country show. I had heard apparently they both were made in France. That's all I know, I watched them and liked them cause Sonic and Donkey Kong were games I liked.
