It's not his fault it's the board/state fault. They don't care for teachers. The board/state needs to lower their standards, expectations, and the workload.
Lowering the barrier to entry IS NOT the solution. The issues are that teachers are underpaid, overworked, are forced to teach to a standardized test, and are working with students who are not disciplined at home. If you want to fix the teacher shortage fix these issues, don’t make it easier for bad teachers to enter the profession. Pay the teachers better, lower the workload, and encourage parents to discipline their children when they act out. Stop with the standardized testing or don’t put so much emphasis on it. At this point it has become a deterrent from a good education.
I am an esl teacher and SpEd and I can’t even pay my rent. You want teachers pay them more. I spent 5 to 6 years I have a master and I can’t even demand for 70 a year
Yall wondering why there is a teacher shortage. Its not because of Christie or COVID. Its because of the Board/state standards. The state makes it very hard for the teachers to enjoy their jobs. The standards, workload, and curriculum put too much stress and pressure on teachers. For one there's no direction for new aspiring teachers, the board dont pick up calls or respond to emails. So how would new aspiring teacher know what to do? Its like yall kill their desire to teach before they earn their teacher certificate. I'm in that process and have no direction and Im have second thoughts if I really want to be a teacher, I have questions about the praxis and other things. I called the board and email and no one is responding back. Another reason for teacher shortage is because this state standards are tooo high, yall expect teachers to do so much and pay so little, and alot of these kids are disrespectful but yall want teachers to gently baby them. Also yall think teachers are robots as if they have no life. The board/state are is the reason for the teacher shortage, whoever is creating the standards and curriculum is at fault. Lower your standards and treat teachers like humans and not working robots. Please teachers had a blast during covid. They noticed their potential and went elsewhere during covid.... Yall treat teachers like S### Sugar Honey Ice Tea and still trying to figure out why. Yall still cant find a solution to the problem that yall created. Dont play the blaming game, Just take accountability for your actions and make things easier for teachers.
If you cant pass the praxis exam what makes you think you would be able to successfully teach kids the content on the exam? Ill admit NJ has plenty of BS when it comes to getting certified to instruct, but praxis is definitely necessary as its the literal content you will teach.
@@420thebestdayever Not anymore. I didn't even have to take the Praxis. I have a degree in Elem Ed from 25 years ago. At 46 I started a new career as a teacher after being a substitute teacher for a year.
@@420thebestdayever the Praxis is bs and a waste of money and time. That's what teachers go to school for and take the traditional or the Alternate Route.

Christie treated teachers terribly and NJ loved him for it. Now NJ is reaping what it sowed.
