Stonestreet couldn’t play Cam now because he’s not gay??!! Maybe Daniel Day Lewis shouldn’t have stared in My Left Foot because he’s not a paraplegic. The job is called “Acting”, ie, taking on a character that is different than yourself!! He played Cam Tucker to perfection and made me believe that Cam & Mitch truly loved each other.
It's a complicated debate -why give the role to a straight guy, but not to an actual gay man?(even though erick killed it, that's still a minority within the acting community) -If a straight actor gets cast as a gay man, there's more scrutiny over that casting, to not end up becoming a stereotype or a caricature or a mocking of the community, and also feel like a real person going through the kinds of problems LGBTQIA+ go through.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. Of course it’s best to cast minority actors in minority roles, but you hire the best person for the job. The casting was spot on for this show
Major missed opportunity in Modern Family was Hailey and Andy. They made more sense, had the greatest chemistry and would have had a worthy spin off show. Dylan was a forced character in my opinion. 😕

We definitely deserve a spinoff. They left so much out and could have made it keep going
the way Nolan has like 140 iQ and played Luke, the dumbest person on the show is just mind blowing.
