I actually remember doing this activity when the show was first broadcast! Mum wouldn't let me, so I did it at Grandma's house. Worked... but there was indeed some smoke that came out of the oven.
I do remember those kits that you showed with the metal frame and the coloured beads. I had one and my mother wasn't impressed with me cooking it in the oven.
I love this. I could just imagine how many warnings would have to be in place before airing it these days. Ventilated area, never leave a heat source alone, don't touch straight after doing it etc.... mind you I have a vague recollection of doing this or something similar as a kid with my brother when we were pre teens
"Yeah kid, put the plastic on the stove and then leave for twenty minutes, if you really have to you can check every ten minutes at most" Solid advice science man from the past 🔥
Yeah I was just thinking, there are so many crafts/experiments that they did on this show that absolutely 100% would not fly in modern kids edutainment these days. I get why, but also it's a shame.
You can do it like in the video, but don't leave the oven unattended and do it together with your parents. You should not inhale the vapors that are produced during heating. So hold your breath when checking and removing the lead light from the oven and ventilate the room well. Have fun and good luck!
great video! hows the ammount of fear in the comment section! any one living pre 2000 must be dead or diseased according to the pessimists! some pepole these days would starve to death on a desert island full of coconut trees.... because they havent got a saftey harness to climb the tree for the coconut... or maybe their working at heights ticket has expired!

Looks like we're all dead - we just don't know it! ;)
Electric frypan! Does the power connector have a long spike? Memories of mum cooking in the kitchen ❤

Back when we weren’t at all concerned about breathing fumes from heated plastic

Bonus points for telling the kids to look around the house for pill bottles.
If you can still find radioactive hair tonic or toothpaste from the past somewhere, you can also make "glow in the dark leadlights".
Do you get fumes when plastic melts or is it only when it catches fire? 🤔

At the beginning I was wondering how on earth it was possible to have such sophisticated LED lights back then 😅
My house burnt down from making this. "Just leave for twenty minutes"
great video!

or the coconuts on the uninhabited island aren't certified gluten free and organic.
Ah. You can't see it. So it musn't be real. Jesus just not indoors and as long as you hate your neighbors, enjoy
Mr curiosity, can you not let the novelty go? Please dont leave this advice on the internet if you wont remake it accurately
These plastics give off toxic fumes. Not recommended unless using adequate fume mask and adult supervision 🤔👍🏴🇬🇧💙
